So i'm trying to run a washer via filling it with a bucket instead of a household supply, it does nothing and the drain hose is locked open. Am i correct in assuming that it has a safety shutoff that prevents it from functioning unless at least the cold water inlet has pressure? The manual seems to indicate that it does. How do i bypass that so i can get it to run just by filling it with a bucket?
>>2980526> shutoff that prevents it from functioning unless at least the cold water inlet has pressureDoubt. Where’s the “safety” in that?Drains from the bottom.Raise hose to stop draining.Lower hose to drain.Send the water far away from the well.Really you want to get one of those 3rd world models that are designed to operate in those conditions
>>2980529According to the manual that is exactly what it does; if there is no inlet pressure not only will it not function it locks the outlet open. All the valves are connected, it works in reverse so if the outlet is open the inlets will not let water in either. The default is that the outlet is open when not in use, without inlet pressure it doesn't even power up.>one of those 3rd world models that are designed to operate in those conditionsWell then i wouldn't have a free washer would i?
>>2980526I've seen a level sensor that incorporates a "no spin/ no agitate" switch, but never one of the water service valves. They are just "dumb", solenoid fired valves.
>>2980530post manual description and parts schematic probably just a NO 3psi or something switch so you can just jump the leadsthese things arent rocket appliances to work on
simple option, little 20$ pump you hook up to a washer supply line?
>>2980526if you really want to be a cheapskate id recommend using gravity to generate water pressure. every foot in height of water column adds .43lbs of water pressure. hook a hose to the washing machine inlet and run it uphill. idk how much pressure your machine needs, but most need like 10-20psi of water pressure to operate. so youre looking at like 24-48ft in elevation difference.

>>2980526Post make & model, and a schematic if you already have it.
>>2980599It's a maytag PAV5158AWW. Basically i just want to cap the inlets and manually fill it.The reason i'm not just running a hose from a cheap pump or doing gravity feed is that for 4 months a year that well freezes and i'll be using water heated over a wood stove to wash clothes. Not shown in OP pic is the 25lb kettlebell tied to a rope that i use to hammer a hole through the ice to get water in the winter. The water has too many ice chunks to get through the outlet.https://www.manualslib.com/manual/524905/Maytag-Pav2300aww.html
>>2980601Also the well is too shallow to trust a pump not to just suck up dirt into my laundry, it gets shallow in the winter so i need to melt the ice chunks and screen out any silt i kicked up.
>>2980601>>2980604>20 21001060 HOSE, PRESSURE SWITCHAttached to the hot/cold union and marked on the wiring diagram as connected to the inlet solenoids, is this what i'm looking for?
>>2980605The other end of the hose goes to the switch in the control panel (#5). Close that switch.
>>2980605>HOSE, PRESSURE SWITCHThat's the hose that goes to the water level sensor switch. The machine won't run until the water level is sufficient to operate the switch for the level selected. You DID fill the tub with water, right?
>>2980608Thanks, that is where i thought it went to but i'm not a washing machine expert. You all have been quite helpful, i will up date in 12ish hours.I'll try that tommorow morning. I'll use a extension cord for the generator so i can hear what it is doing. It's all solenoids so i should be able to hear what is going on.
>>2980609The issue is without inlet pressure you can't, according to the manual it has a switch that leaves the drain pump open so if there is no inlet pressure it just empties out. It empties even if it isn't plugged in. I have used this machine before when it was hooked up to a household water supply, if you forget to open the valve for the water supply it will not even power up.
>>2980610Good luck dude. If worse comes to worse, then you could replace the control board with a tarduino.
>>2980526Thinking about doing something similar with my new "eco-friendly" bullshit washer. Something is wrong with it, I think. It's supposed to be auto-sensing, but it just fills and fills. You could put 2 t-shirts in and it will still fill the whole machine up. There is no way to manually set anything.Fucking piece of shit.
OP, bit of a delay as there has been a ice storm but i'll post results when i can.
