On my way home, a rock flung and punctured my transmission plan.

I spent all weekend trying to find a replacement locally with no luck. So I ordered one on rockauto, one with a drain plug built in, fancy.

So my transmission is going to be sitting open until I get the new pan, delivery estimate is Friday. It's dripping fluid. so I wonder. If I keep it as is until install the new pan, how much will it drain? Will the torque converter drain out too?

Keep a pan under it for the drips while you wait and treat it as if you're doing a full fluid change because you're gonna lose most of it if you haven't already.

My garage has a drain to collect fluids, so already done.

Not unless you start it. You won't have to refill the entire transmission, which is good.

What do you drive that that your pan is made of tin foil?

At the very most your torque converter should only halfway drain out. It is physically impossible for it to drain out the bottom half.

When the new pan comes in, swap it out, put a new transmission filter in there while you have it off, and then re-fill until the dipstick says it's full. Some new shit doesn't have a dipstick, so be aware of that bullshit.

yeah, no one believes his childish story
he probably did something utterly stupid but the "official" version is "a rock fling, haha", just like i was "searching for something" in my pants, when my parently almost got me masturbating furiously when i was a kid

Noice. Wish my Silverado would have had one. Filter change was a miserable job with the mess.

pro bubba tip: watch yootoob to see where the sensitive areas are then go out and blast a hole with the drill that hopefully misses aforementioned spots
let the fluid drain civilly then pull the pan and weld a half coupling weld o let over the hole for a convenient service thereafter

>drill a hole, weld coupling and THEN pull the pan
great
