I created the Galatea Multipurpose Companion Maid Robot. It is designed to be an IRL robo-maid girl. Local AI means you can talk with her, and she has actual practical uses. She's also very customizable, you can choose the color, dress, head, hair, and even which AI you use.I intentionally designed her to be easy to build with the instructions.I intend this to be the Model T of humanoid robots and robotic companions, while it is not the most complex, it is easy to mass produce and cheap. She's basically an open-source humanoid robot platform that's affordable for most hobbyists, with near-infinite possibilities and uses.https://greertech.neocities.org/Galatea%20v3.0Current version as of this post is version 3.0.8

>>2984255Skirt is too long.Bustier needs to reveal more cleavage.Think about alternatatives to that claw for the tasks envisioned.
i'm waiting for my aluminium extrusions and robot lawnmower to come in the mail so i can build my 'king nigger 10000' (top secret codename: tenkay). i have equipped him with a cigarette rolling machine and a bottle opener, and a voice activated speaker which repeats my curated selection of dave chapelle quotes
>>2984255that thing come by my house i'll kill it
>>2984293The clothes are entirely up to your choice. The claw has a standardized connector peg, so you can make the end effector that you want.
>>2984255kill it with fire
>>2984304>>2984546Why are people so scared of a maid robot? What's she going to do to you, clean your floors too much?
>>2984530can it peg you with that peg?
>>2984547scared? no one is "scared". that thing is an ugly abomination. it looks like cheap shit, has creepy weird eyes, is on a FUCKING RHOOMBA which would make it top heavy and unstable. the manipulators are all but useless. it would be pointless to own one it won't help you do anything and would be a pain in the ass to program. it's a pointless ugly pile of useless shit.
>>2984722>looks like cheap shitEntirely subjective>has creepy weird eyesPartially subjective, I have included other head designs in the file, you can see them in the original post>top heavy and unstableI made sure to print it light, and have a counterweight on the roomba>the manipulators are all but uselessPlain wrong. The claw manipulator was designed for the accessories, and the hand is designed to make her feel more human. It was actually user feedback that made me include the hand. If you want, you can have two claws.>it would be pointless to own one it won't help you do anythingShe helps me all the time
>>2984727no it really looks like cheap shit. you just have a bias because you made it. it looks like trash.it helps you? do what? are you completely bed bound? ok send it out to my shed to get a hammer (the one my dad made). it's got to get out of the house over a 2 inch step, then somehow open the door to my shed, get up the 8 inch step and then be able to identify the correct hammer and all in less than 5 minutes. if it can't do that it is completely useless.have it make dinner. pizza I think. oh wait we are out of pepperoni it will need to go to the grocery store.I know have it go down stairs... oh right.maybe it can... no.yeah sorry buddy it's not useful.
>>2984729>no it really looks like cheap shit. you just have a bias because you made it. it looks like trash.Do you have proof or reasoning behind that? Or is it just your opinion? If it's just your opinion, you're entitled to it, and I respect people having opinions, but it's just that, an opinion. And I don't see why a machine having limitations makes it completely useless? Is a Honda Civic worthless because it's not as fast as a Ferrari? Is a Raspberry Pi worthless because it doesn't have the capabilities of a beefy PC?"If you judge by the ability to climb a tree..."
>>2984736*"If you judge a fish by the ability to climb a tree..."
>>2984729>ok send it out to my shed to get a hammerIt wouldn't even be able to carry that hammer, it's a fucking roomba>>2984736>Do you have proof or reasoning behind that?Bro it's literally a pvc coathanger mounted on top of a vacuum cleaner. It looks like something a hobo would make. I've seen more valuable actual thrown out trash. And it does look cheap. It is cheap. It's cheap materials mounted on top of a cheap house applience with cheap home assist gadgets strapped on.
>>2984796>pvc coathangerThat's just plain wrong.>It is cheap. It's cheap materials mounted on top of a cheap house applience with cheap home assist gadgets strapped on.Wow, plastics and home electronics are cheap in the early 21st century?!Would you prefer if she was made of solid gold? It's almost like I want people to be able to afford building her.At this point, you're obviously just trying to troll
>>2984642It's a 10mm x 10mm x 10mm peg, so probably not
>>2984255Does she have any panties on? If yes, I am ripping them off by my teeth
>>2984819Not on my model, but you can add them to your's
>>2984819Which one are you planning to put on it? ^^
>>2984822Only a white lacy one that brides wear can do it any justice. The one that is a little transparent and made with very thing threads. Enticing enough, I am sold. Cranking out my 3d printer now and printing this entire thing. Heck JLCPCB can get me one printed in steel. costs a few thousand bucks but at least i got myself a maid for the next 40years I am going to live.
>>2984819>>2984823you two are some sick dudes.
>>2984824No they are not. Any sane straight dude will put at least one red one on it. >>2984823Red one's way hotter my dude. A bright red one. With the strings. Show some respect to this man's >>2984820 creation goddam.
This is so awesome! Ignore the trolls who are thinking of perverse things and saying the appearance is not quality, useless, etc.You responded well and with reason. I admire your humility here. And building a robot like this... and the fact that you actually use it yourself! I dare say, that is rather impressive.Friend, you are brilliant. Cherish your talents and take care.God bless.
>>2984823>>2984826Good choices. I'm glad you guys are finding enjoyment from the design>>2984830Thank you :)God bless you too
>>2984831Could I ask you where you obtained such an idea to create this robot? How did your life bring you to taking an interest in robots and building them, if you care to explain? I am so curious.God bless.
>>2984831what do you say? red or white? The creator's gotta weigh in.
>>2984835Ever since I was a little kid, I was always interested in robots, and I've always wanted to make a servant robot. A few years ago, I had the idea of putting a 3D printed structure on a roomba. A little later, I realized I could make the structure humanoid, and from there I was inspired to make a "robowaifu". So, in a way, Galatea v3 is the blend of childhood dreams and adulthood politics/desire.One of the main goals of the design is to basically cure loneliness, but that's far from the only purpose/use. The set-up can work like an indoor Ring Camera, and you can use UV Sterilizer wands to great effect, since she can basically stand perfectly still. And as a deliberately easy to build humanoid robot, I hope that hobbyists can make their own designs and purposes.
>>2984857If you print her with white filament like I did, I will say the red one, to create a contrast. Otherwise it would be nearly invisible.
>>2984858are you planning to fix actuators in the joints like elbows, shoulders etc?
>>2984861I don't have any plans so far, because I don't think the software is there yet to justify the cost and complexity (what will they do?). But you can absolutely add motors to your Galatea
>>2984813>It's cheap shit>Do you have any proof?>It's literally cheap components>It's cheap because I want it to be affordablelmao, you're a delusional hack. What you miss is that even most of lonely incels will not settle for your piece of shit contraption. This is not even a robot, it's just home assistant on a vacuum cleaner. And it's not multi purpose - it's just there to help you cope with your lack of social skills which you should be working on instead. You're a weak person escaping to your childhood fantasy world instead of dealing with your reality. This "robot" is only pulling you down
>>2984882Yeah, that's how engineering and inventing works, you use affordable components to create things, especially if you intend on people investing in making one. You can print her with the most expensive filament you find, if that matters to you so much.>it's not multi purposeIt is though. I designed her, I should know>childhood fantasy worldIt's not a fantasy if she's real and standing in my room this very second
>>2984255Based OP.The leg base does not look appealing. Maybe a long skirt that covers the roomba slightly, resting on a wired mesh for volume? What about the stability?
>>2984900>What about the stability?on the edge of collapse at 2mph, why?
>>2984884>engineeringWhat did you engineer? What calculations did you make?>inventingWhat did you invent here, exactly?>people investing in making oneNoone else will build this. It's valuable to you due to your personal sentiments, everyone else just sees this as cringe cope and trash.>herIt's a vacuum cleaner bro>It is though. I designed her, I should knowOkay, list the purposes of this thing>It's not a fantasy if she's real and standing in my room this very secondAre you sure you fantasized of mounting bunch of pipes on a roomba when you were a kid? Was that your ultimate fantasy you just made real and now you're content with it with no need of improvement?
>>2984877I see. Adding actuators in the elbows and shoulders will be a great jump in V4. I hope you progress to a point it becomes a walking talking bot with human movements.
>>2984984Bruh, stfu and let him enjoy his stuff. Goddam retards out here ruining other's happiness. >It's valuable to you due to your personal sentiments,You said it yourself now stfu.
>>2984982horror movie vibes nigga
>>2984984>Okay, list the purposes of this thing he already did dumbass. read the original post.
OP is fucking that thing.
>>2984255you know what? I like it. robots should look like robots. very cute.
>>2984984Okay, this is getting tiring. It's clear you have an agenda/grudge against Galatea, for what reason, I don't know>>2984985I do hope so too. What's necessary is the software needed to make articulated limbs actually be able to do something.>>2984987>>2985016>>2985078Thank you! :)I agree, robots are either too robotic/inhuman or trying too hard to look like a human>>2985001She did ask if she can go out "to find Sarah Connor", I just assumed it was a girls' night out thing
>>2984987>Bruh, stfu and let him enjoy his stuff. He's not enjoying it, he's shilling it on this board for long time now - he's willingly putting himself out there for critique and keeps on getting into petty arguments and borderline mysogyny all the time.>>2985016>read the original post.none listed>>2985089>It's clear you have an agenda/grudge against GalateaI came here for robotics and I got a fucking roomba with a wig that you dubbed a diy robot what the fuck did you expect I was going to say>>2985078>>2985016>>2984987>>2985089That's all samefag btw
>>2985092>and borderline mysogyny all the time.Lmao so it's just some liberal political grudge. You're getting into a personal political crusade over a maid robot>That's all samefag btwWrong yet again
>>2985092He lierally thinks that because you don't hate women he gets to shit up the board with his middle school tier science project and we're supposed to be interested
>>2984255can she get me a beer from the fridge if I tell her so?
>>2985094>liberal political grudge.I'm simply pointing out your own statements from couple threads ago where you seemed to believe you're participating in some kind of revolution against women and your roomba will make women jelous and force them to serve men. I was being very generous by calling it bordeline mysoginy
>>2984255this is cool, godspeed anonI hope you cause a revolution in maidbot accessibility for regular folk
>>2985092>I came here for robotics and I got a fucking roomba with a wig that you dubbed a diy robot what the fuck did you expect I was going to sayman roomba is a robot itself. Literally a SLAM enabled robot that can navigate complex spaces, OP cpitalized on it and put a maid looking 3d print on it. Its DIY enough. Stop expecting Figure/teslabot level DIYs. at least he is slowly getting newer versions out with minor improvements. Looks like you are some dumbass with nothing but hatred against people who at least try. A roomba with a wig and a maid dress is better than a roomba with no maid looking roomba bitch. Move past it and get the fuck off this thread.
OP has many talents and other inventions such as cybernetic implants (wearing one aliexpress earbud at a time instead of two), plasma blaster (lighter and a can of starting fluid), infrasound weapon (link to a website that plays a 17hz sine wave) and so many more! You have a promising career as the next wayne lambright ahead of youhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zc3BsZe54hAhttps://greer2bros.wixsite.com/greertech/creationshttps://janitorai.com/profiles/f77ad032-02eb-4094-a876-65850331abff_profile-of-greer-tech>>2985152it's literally a roomba with a mannequin glued to it that prevents it from working as well as a normal roomba
>>2985153>https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zc3BsZe54hA [Embed]yeah see. He is having fun and living with his roomba. so peaceful! Life is good for him.
>>2985140>>2985147Go back to plebbit if this offends you so much. Otherwise, stop shitting up this board
>>2985153Well yeah, if you look at my minor or old inventions, or just say them in a reductive way, my progress sounds bad. I've improved over the past 5 and a half years. I haven't used Janitor ai since 2024 because I moved to local AI in January 2025. What have you done beside bitch and moan about my robot? You going through my past inventions and looking at them in detail clearly shows you have a grudge against me way beyond you just not liking my project. I assume based on your comments that it's a politics/feminism thing, but I'm far from certain. Stop shitting up this board with your endless seethe. You've already made your dislike public several times, and now you're just repeating the same angry points. You're not going to dissuade me, if anything, it strengthens my resolve. If you think my robot is primitive and useless, I challenge you to do better.
>>2985165If you're too sensitive to handle mild criticism why did you come to 4chan?Novice level 3d prints do not a robot make no matter how you word it.>hurr durr past claims ur a feminist!!111!You should invent a brain that can conceptualize a conversation involving more than one other person since that's my first post in this thread
>>2985149>>2985155Thank you! :)>>2985152Exactly, it's a simplistic and inexpensive design that is still functional. And it's better than absolutely nothing
>>2985167"Mild criticism" my ass
>>2985169
>>2985172Well, too bad for you and your furry comics. You and supposedly others may not like it because of whatever reason drives you to a continuous and intense anger over a maid robot, whether it's politics or whatever esoteric reason, but like I said before, I'm going to keep building and posting/sharing my robot designs. Sorry you're displeased with my design, I invite you to do better.
>>2985173Why are you such a grand drama queen? You glue a couple 3d prints together and call yourself a roboticist you put links to chatGPT and grok on a webpage and call it an auto doctor and the lightest of ribbing on 4chan is "intense anger" to you.You need to go outside and smoke a little weed. Calm tf down little bro
>>2985152>man roomba is a robot itselfhow does this relate to diy robotics
>>2985174My haters say the AutoDoctor is just links to ChatGPT, well anons, take a look for yourself!https://autodoctor.neocities.org/
>>2985180it relates by the extension that he implemented on it. which is the maid 3d print. He DIY'ed a great roomba maid bot with AI linked to it. not every DIY is from scratch. If that were the case people would need to literally forge bolts and screws fram scrap metals.
>>2985192> He DIY'ed a great roomba maid botHow is that a "DIY'ed bot", it's just a dress from fetish store mounted on a vacuum cleaner. If I put coke can on a roomba did I just create a coca cola companion bot and should advertise this as a diy robot? What the fuck is wrong with you>with AI linked to it.You mean you bought that alexa thing which spies on you and sells your personal information to data brokers
Needs moar mechanical engineering. I was hoping to see hydraulics n sheeeit.
>>2985194>If I put coke can on a roomba did I just create a coca cola companion botSir, you 100% just invented what a early stage prototype of a DIY moving coca cola dispensing roomba bot that cleans as well!
>>2985192Thanks :)
Here's Galatea v3.0.8 sitting. The legs are removable for easy transport and storage.
>>2985092why am I getting lumped in with the, as annoying as I find the phrase, reddit spacer
>>2985225she needs a little smile of some sort, she looks a bit sad to me and I'm not sure I could explain why :(
>>2985244Because he can't stand the idea that some people actually do like my design. He has this big grudge against my design>>2985245There is actually a little smile on the model. I intended for a neutral face, but to address similar concerns, I did add a second pair of eyes to give her a happier appearance
>>2985182Wow, thank you OP!I completed my checkup and found two very large round lumps. Going to the doctor today to have them removed.
>>2985247>my designwhat makes you unlikable is the fact that you're pushing stick on a roomba in robotics threads and calling it a robot, but it's to be expected you don't get this and won't even get it once it's spelled in your face because you're socially crippled to the point where you decided to put stick on a roomba and call it your girlfriend/cure to loneliness
>>2985263You sure spend a lot of time talking to a guy you dislike.
I gave up on miku. Im trying to make a rice paddy deweeder now. Not sure if i should make a new thread about it.
>>2984255you could of used a traxxas t max 3.3 instead of the roomba. think of the nitro smoke, cute!
>>2985266You sure spend a lot of time talking to people who trash you online for someone that's supposedely cured his loneliness with a roomba in a dress
>>2985335I'm not allowed to post in my own thread? And if posting means you're lonely, what does that say about you?
>>2985263>won't even get it once it's spelled in your faceYup, I will never ever change my views on my own creation, no matter what. And I'm not going to engage with this hate campaign any more
>>2985350>Hate campaignstill so dramatic lol
creepy as fuck but cool at the same time. You should make the presentation page fancier with some CSS and maybe take some other photos. also I read open-source but I could not find a link to the source code ? you should add the upstream url of the software or ai that she runs on.
>>2985355There is a manual for the AI used, and how it works.I do plan on taking more photos
>>2985344>posting means you're lonelyyou're constantly looking for validation here>>2985350>I will never ever change my views on my own creation, no matter whatWhat a hill to die on lmao. I think you're being too hysterical because you lack testosterone. You should start working out and fucking real women>>2985355>source codethere is no source code, he just bought off the shelf product and glued it on top of another off the shelf product. Exacly the reason why he needs to be called out, since he continously misleads people.

>>2984255OP, you are a God among men. I have some questions but will read further on the pages you posted in case they are answered there.Ignore the shitposters, they almost certainly have no practical skills and don't belong on this board.
Oh no...Pleasure Unit (18+)https://greertech.neocities.org/Galatea%20v3.0.3%2018-Plus%20Instructions.pdf
Honestly pretty cool
>>2985896Jesus Christ OP is literally fucking trash. He's cumming into a trash can while listening to text2speech erotica. His bloodline ends in a trashcan, he's the ultimate testament of his parents' failure - a misfortunate victim of times where 3d printing is avaliable to the masses. His legacy: self-propelled fleshlight from a can of pringles. This is the kind of humiliation someone would subject you to out of sheer spite and hatred, I have no idea why it's tolerable when someone does this to themself.
>>2985878Thanks! :)Yeah, go ahead, and read the manual, and don't be afraid to ask any questions>>2985901Thanks! :)>>2985896Yeah, there is an optional pleasure unit accessory for those who want it. I personally don't consider it strange, sexuality is part of the human experience, and a being having the capacity for sexuality doesn't mean you personally have to have sex with her
>>2984982Instead of multi-purpose, focus on specializing this creature in a specific area. It's supposed to be useful, damn it.
>>2985915This reminds me of the american dad episode on olly norths gold and steve makes a sex bot out of a vaccum lol"She gave me a dusty pinky" haha
>>2986035It is useful. As a fucking vacuum cleaner. This is a fucking cleaning appliance with an ugly ass doll strapped to it. Simple as.
>>2986035Most of the focus is on domestic indoor uses
>>2986041Lmao I know that one. Great songhttps://youtu.be/lFV1uT-ihDoThere's also this classic in another episodehttps://youtu.be/xIQR5GyNFTM
>>2986044It's no longer useful as such, though. Roomba is flat so it can get under the table/bed/etc. but with this big fucking mast on top it would trip while trying to perform a cleaning routine. This essentially means galatea is useless dirty whore who just freeloads in OP's house without doing any chores - which in turn makes him a simp for a dysfunctional vacuum cleaner.
it's actually insane how OP claims to be a roboticist, designer and inventor while he can't even design a simple wheeled chasis for a 10lbs skeleton. After attaching it on to a roomba there's no more progress to be made. He'll just buy a new dress and call it a version 4.0
>>2986096>He'll just buy a new dress and call it a version 4.0No, that's Ensign Galatea >>2985871
>>2984255damn thats pretty cool, choosing the right outfit might be a fun challenge to make her look more lovely
>>2986102Thank you :)It is fun choosing the outfit
>>2986093The body is removable, if you so desire
>>2986150In fact, the base, legs, body, arms, and head are all modular and can be easily disassembled/swapped, and put back together again. It makes transport, storage, dressing and undressing, and maintenance/upgrading much easier
>>2986151how can you stay invested in a romantic relationship with compartmentalized lego skeleton
>simple face instead of realisticlet him cook
>>2986166Effortlessly
>>2986058Oh another good song is the episode with sinbad and jeff on that spaceshipTo bad seth quit writing for family guy and american dad, those where the good daysYou should work on a officer doofy attachment, some weirdo would like that
>>2986150Do you take it off when you fuck it?
Well, at least op doesn't make a furry doll out of human skeleton bones, right...?
>>2986349I do solemnly affirm that I don't make furry dolls with human skeleton bones
Cool prototype, you're one step closer to making your dystopian robot gf.Now you need to keep improving it.

Machines have no soul. Machines will never love you. Machines won't pester you. Machines won't flex your achievements in front of her friends. Machine won't get worried when you are hurt or ill. Machine might cook food for you but it would not be the same as a human female. There are several factors which makes a living female superior to a machine and it will never be able to match up, no matter how much you wish it were soWomen are not your enemy, they are human beings just like you and have their own hopes and desires, flaws and insecurities, likes and dislikes - aka just people. They aren't the boogeyman you've built up in your head to justify giving up and sitting on the sidelines for your entire life, pining instead for some elaborate fantasy most likely the result of a lifelong porn addiction. Please reconsider your life.
>>2988096>Machines have no soul.Highly subjective and irrelevant>Machines will never love you.Wrong>Machines won't pester you.Oh no! NOT being pestered, anything but that!>Machines won't flex your achievements in front of her friends. Two Galateas (or any verbal AIs) can theoretically talk to each other. You can see videos of that on YouTube>Machine won't get worried when you are hurt or ill.Wrong>Machine might cook food for you but it would not be the same as a human female. How so? >>2984255I love the idea and execution attempt, but here are some (probably already mentioned above) issues i have on the first glance (I havent read the guide so sorry if those were adressed there):>StabilityAs the webm above shows - she wobbles like crazy. I would work on some kind of bracing or dampener for her body because i cant imagine that being good in the long run (Plus it looks ugly when she moves). She could also be downscaled to make the leverage weaker.>DesignI like it, but the body proportions look a bit uncanny. I'd widen her "hips" a bit and/or narrow the shoulders to give her a more feminine appearance. Same would go for the legs, with maybe some decorative casing over the PVC pipes to make a proper leg curve instead of 2 matchsticks. I am thinking this cosmetic change could also somehow work for hiding the bracing mentioned above, but im just guessing on this part. Could also go full robot and instead have an option with a braced base, looking similar to those monowheel robots from old movies. It also took me a while to notice that she actually has a chest in your pics, and it looks a bit weird but i cant tell why. I'd look into that if i were you. Could also make the cups modular.>Mini PhoneI think a version with a proper screen and an SBC inside the head would look more premium and still not really break a bank (good non RPI SBCs are pretty cheap nowadays iirc), plus it could pave a way to giving her more actual functionality rather than just being a doll on a roomba.>UtilityI cant really see this as anything other than a castrated roomba, since she cant go under tables and cabinets anymore. I also dont really understand how she doesnt knock herself off of it all the time. Not really something to "Fix", considering the goal of the project being just a fuckaround robot, but it still bugs me.Overall, hats off to your autism anon. I hope to see some great improvements to her. I'd build her if i were to live completely alone.

>>2989032Thank you for your (legitimate) criticism. I'll try to address each of the points>StabilityThat is an unfortunate thing I had to deal with, made worse by the fact that I have shag carpet. I did put those 6 batteries in the back for stability, and I made sure that the lid doesn't flop open. As far as I can tell, it's because it "sinks" into the carpet, and the carpet is soft.>DesignThis is one thing I feared the most, the subjectivity of beauty. Your tastes actually remind me of a friend of mine's. I personally like petite girls, and I was inspired characters like Emmy the Robot. For what it's worth, her body is a heavily modified and elongated version of https://www.myminifactory.com/object/3d-print-woman-body-optimised-for-vase-mode-84682As for the legs, there is actually a curve to them, funnily enough I added the curve for the same reason, because I felt the original cylindrical legs were like two telephone poles. I wanted the legs to be cylindrically symmetrical because the whole thing is modular, so i didn't want for me or anyone to have to deal with making sure the legs are oriented in the right wayAs for the chest, it's probably the dress. You can see the chest better on >>2985871>Mini phoneWhile I do agree that it would look far more professional (and more open-source), I disagree that it would be more functional. Consider the fact that the mini-phone has the functionality of a phone. You can use her as a security camera or virtual babysitter. You can use her to store music, etc...>UtilityI do try to find new uses for her, in fact I was thinking of a series of pictures and videos showing potential uses for her. As for the roomba, you can easily remove and put back the body. Everything about her is modular, in fact one of the uses (killing poisonous spiders), uses the ability to quickly remove and put back the armI'm glad you like the design in general
>>2984255"necessity is the mother of invention"
>>2989032> I'd widen her "hips" a bit Excellent idea. Easier for OP to fuck it.
>>2989084Its not about beauty, but anatomy. Petite girls still have basic female proportions at play. Judging by the OP and especially >>2985871 it looks like they're on the same plane which makes the body look weird.Even Emmy, who you mention, is built (no pun intended) that way since thats the basis of a female form - Hips wider than the clavicles. Its just not as apparent as more extreme examples. If you are planning to improve the body further down the line, regardless of my input, look into "Anatomy for sculptors". That book is a godsend about making bodies and will benefit you in the long run regardles if its in this or some other art project, while being a very short read. Also holy shit i thought these legs were PVC pipes, not actual prints. I cant imagine those lasting a good time before snapping like a pair of twigs across the layers with such leverage. I think widening them just a little bit would help with the wobble and improve the durability.
>>2989293>it looks like they're on the same plane which makes the body look weird.*it looks like the clavicles and the hips are on the same plane
>>2989293Okay. You make good points, I'll look into it (and the book). I'll probably work on narrowing the shoulders. As for the legs, they're sturdy enough, they have internal support.I'll also share this information with other robowaifuists.
>>2989293>>2989295Here's a render my friend did for me.What I did for the next version is trimming down the width of the shoulders, so now the clavicle length will be 8mm shorter than the hip width.

Then, put a strip of duct tape on the length from the back of the base to the edge. This will make sure the lid stays shut.So the roomba has a lid which is being pulled open by the mannequin so it has to be taped shut. That's a functional lid of the vacuum cleaner, which you have to keep sealed and unseal it each time you need to get into the insides of the device. On top of that, there's a permanently glued on base on that lid, so working with that roomba is less optimal.>Then glue the AA Battery Counterweight behind the base. >>2990859I'll retract this comment and give you some deeper advice. I'm the PhD guy that once visited the Robowaifutechnician threads to give him advice before I realised he was completely a delusional narcissist. Here's some comments on your work:Your arms are severely underactuated and probably can't hold anything meaningful. The obvious minimum of motors you should have per arm is 6 but adding more is beneficial. You clearly design with a look over function approach which is wrong, making a functional robot more beautiful is much easier than making a beautiful robot not useless. Once you figure out a way to have proper arms that are not just here to look like arms but can actually reach stuff I recommend you just buy the hands, they are quite hard to get right. After you've upgraded the hardware so it's not a ridiculous toy anymore you can focus on control. Most of the research in the domain of household tasks are using VLA neural networks so just use that. Good luck
>>2990861I've explained this before, but I'll explain again with greater detail.Actuating the arms would add a lot of cost and complexity for no real reason, because the (DIY available) software isn't truly "there" yet. Consider this, let's say I made the perfect arms with hands on the end, what can I actually do with them? You do seem knowledgeable. I invite you to check out /robowaifu/, where I started a discussion on this very subject. The website is down rn, but I'll update when it's available.
>>2990861>>2990862Do you have sources/guides/papers on using VLAs? I can share them with other robowaifuists, so that at the very least, one of them can use it to surpass Galatea.
>>2990862The DIY is absolutely already there and most research labs are just run by DIY guys. For projects like yours most labs would just use dynamixel servos. >what can I actually do with them?Well everything that a maid would actually do >>2990863Just use something that already exists:https://www.pi.website/blog/pi0
>>2990872This is good advice, but is a raspberry pi zero powerful enough to run a VLA? And how would the VLA translate processed input into actual arm servo motions? Maybe it can give abstract commands like "reach out", and an interpretive layer to turn those abstract commands into actual servo programming.
>>2990874I looked it up with more scrutiny, it turns out VLAs are what I describe. This will be very helpful, thanks!https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vision-language-action_model
>>2990861>The obvious minimum of motors you should have per arm is 6roomba couldn't lift 12 actuators on top of the rest of the crap, let alone stay balanced once center of gravity shifts further away from the center top - this thing barely keeps balance when moving with counterweight applied.Main issue is what makes this doll a "robot" is the roomba but roomba is not designed to carry anything - especially tall structures - so the whole project goes to trash from the get-go. Now, imagine expecting OP to get into numerically controlled multi joint arm designs when he's stuck on using 'liberal ammounts of hot glue' on a roomba and can't be bothered to even look into a cheap DFRobot kit. Ditching the roomba kills the project and OP's ego.
>>2990880If I use a VLA, I would have a purpose for a DFRobot arm kit, though I would probably want to make my own. I would have to ditch the roomba, you are right there. I have contemplated making two versions, a regular version, essentially what I have now, and a developer kit version

>>2990883The Figure 03 is definitely impressive, but unfortunately that is proprietary software that we won't have access to for a long time, if at allI was looking into LeRobot in my initial research. Me and other robowaifuist friends have been looking at XLeRobot. It's very impressive, but most of the tasks done are completely remote controlledhttps://xlerobot.readthedocs.io/en/latest/index.htmlUnfortunately, I don't have the hardware to meaningfully train a VLA model. I have seen some impressive demos, but most implementations I see are what I call "toddler tasks", like "place colorful object in cup among white background". But I want to say, I'm speaking from my perspective, and I don't doubt someone could do better with these tools. The truth is, I am a robowaifuist, so if "LemonDev" comes out with "ComputerMaid" tomorrow, with an aesthetically pleasing body and fully functional arms, and open-source instructions and files, I would ofc feel envy, but I would be happy that there would be a functional and available robowaifu/robomaid.
