I bought a swing for my garden. It's lovely. The problem though - it doesn't have a roof, and sometimes the sun shines perfectly in the most annoying way possible. I decided to make a roof myself. It's a frame with some lightweight fabric, and looks like pic rel.

It's a 2m x 1,5m rectangle. The frame is just the outer edge, plus one beam in the middle. The beam in the middle has holes, and these holes match a screw at the middle of the swing's top beam. The idea is that I can easily lift the roof and either change its position, or remove it - hence the funky mounting.

My first try was making the frame out of thin 2cm L-shaped plastic profiles, but it very quickly turned out that plastic bends and breaks.

I was wondering, if I replace plastic L-shaped profiles with aluminium or steel hollow section, will this help significantly? I understand that adding diagonal beams would make the whole construction more stable, but I'm trying to balance stability, weight, and cost and I have no idea what solution would be best here.

Forgive me the reddit lingo, I tried asking for help there before coming here.
