What is the best paint for wood dolls?I have a fist full of these and want to make a little village. Points if they are semi weather proof so they can stay in the guardian if needed.
>>2986703Rust-oleum enamel based has given me good results over the years. I've used it to paint plywood gnome cut outs for Christmas. Some are 10 years old with no issues.
>>2986724Is that something you can even get in craft quantities?
>>2986703You want to make a village? How far do you want to take it then? You could go full mini painting or just red shirt, blue shirt, white head black head.

>>2986833Reading it back it just sounds like a "Cake" lyric.... What did I do? This one is over my head.
>>2986833>>2986844Kek. Disregard, I checked it and yes my village will be all white. Just want to distinguish the gnomes humans and fairies for my garden village. It will be ethnically pure.
>>2986703If this is for your kids, make sure you put a flare at the bottom to avoid any trips to the hospital. Kids get creative
>>2986761Yes. They sell it in half pint cans.
>>2986950That's still a good bit more than I'll need. I'm going to try the stuff from the craft store, I just don't know much about paints.
>>2986876>put a flare at the bottom to avoid any trips to the hospital. Kids get creativewalmart had these in the toy section... those wings on the end are a lifesaver. dont ask how I know.
>>2986703apprenticed german wood toymaker here. we mostly use regular water-based acrylic paints, often thinned and applied in 2-3 layers, never thick. the final varnish coat sometimes has chemical thinners, but otherwise it's just regular acrylics. give the raw wood a thinned acrylic varnish first if you find the paint spreads uncontrollably on the raw wood.
>>2986976Thanks! I'll go get some.
