I don’t like to preface things because it makes me sound like an asshole know it all piece of shit.
But growing up I was in my Dad’s shop all the time, unsupervised, allowed to make what I wanted.
Bike trailers, beds, laptop stands. The later being one that my friends in high school thought I bought from a store.
I grew up working with my parents building, build a deck, gazebo, renovated 2 bathrooms including tiling.
I now work at a sign shop after teaching myself CNC, laser cutters, flatbed uv-printers, engravers, etc, and have continued this tradition of being able to make things however I want to.
I went to a big 10 university school for computer science, I hated that shit so much after graduating.
But now after quitting that (completely soulless, it will make you die an early death if you have any morals at all) industry where I was making an easy six figure salary I’m back at $25/hr.
What can I do?
I can make just about anything. I want to get into furniture maybe, or maybe building custom pizza ovens. Idk what to do. I don’t want to go back to writing code. I just feel lost.

Figure out a product that has a need and start cranking it out.

Use your skills to renovate houses and become a based landlord without a silly hat, only renting to other based people.

Maybe make some expensive custom stuff for rich people. God speed anon we need humans who can make things.

you were right even ignored your own instinct

Kind of like you dude, but I went to get a PhD in physics, and doing a postdoc later, not much money. Anyway, I am teaching for high-schools now, much more fun than university soulless bottomless pit of copying and pasting articles with small changes to the methodologies or the object of study. We live in a fucked up time, hope things get better when we manage to go synthetic or skynet is running. Teach kids how get your skills, it feels meaningful, but not always, sometimes it is also a disgrace, when they don't want to learn.
