How feasible is it to turn a 12 foot box truck into a tiny apartment on wheels? I can afford this and a few thousand for materials and work on it myself, the problem is I live in a city and work in an area that may or may not be ok with having me bring in a box truck everyday. But if they did it would blend in well for the area. If monthly insurance isn't too expensive I would consider living in this full time. I don't own a company and am not sure if insurance companies
Try to park a regular truck anywhere for a week and see what happens. People will break into it and vandalise it. The other issue is that driving a truck, you have no car. So how do you go shopping in a one ton truck? You can't park in coscos loading bay.So it's viable to build inside a truck beed, will you have any insulation or noise protection? Or are other trucks just going to wake you up all night
Its totally possibleYou need to purchase a quality sturdy short metal trash can and super glue a toilet lid onto the rimThen have a Second oversized trash can next to itThe toilet, uses Standard size White Trash BagWhile the main trash can uses a very large Black Trash BagIn the toilet/white trash bag, you keep a mixture of cheapest bulk Kitty Litter + Baking Soda. You can piss in this all day no problem, just leave the bag in.When you need to shit, you also have to replace the bag.Simply shit in white trash bag (with kitty litter and baking soda) Spray it with cheap dollar tree air freshener, tie the bag off real tightThen place it in a SECOND white trash bag just in case, tie that one off real tight, then put that double-white-trash-bag-shit-piss-medley into the main plastic trashcan using the oversized Black trash bagAbout once every 3 days, you gotta sneak that black trash bag into a public restroom and just drop it off into their public trashcan, or if it's full, just set it down next to the can. This is pretty cheap way to shit and piss in your box truck, without compromising your health, comfortability or quality of life.
living in a windowless uhaul and having to shit in a garbage bag sounds worse than prison. and then on top doing it in a city devoid of nature might as well be helli cant imagine a circumstance that would justify that situation
>>2987898If it were me then I could do it temporarily. Lots of people live like this for travels or camping or just a step above being homeless on the street. You're not locked in the truck when your shift ends, you could find new hobbies and maybe have a small bike like a folding one for exercise and short trips to the store and such. If you get a gym membership to use the shower then you could spend more time there as well. I think the only thing I wouldn't do is piss in my shitting bags. I would probably just have a piss jug and a hole in the floor of the truck to covertly empty piss down storm drains and in the parking lots of stores I don't care for.
>>2987791It's not in my city. It's against the law to live in a vehicle on city streets. The City tracks these people and we also have a growing number of activists who have been cataloging people living in vehicles. Many try all sorts of tricks like relocating every night; masquerading as tourists by putting a canoe on top of their vehicle (bike racks is another ploy); placing magnetic signs advertising a fake company on the door or vehicle sides, etc. None of it works. Pictures are taken, licence plates recorded, in some cases the VIN# is also recorded, location where they are seen logged, and if possible pics of the occupant(s). These are all shared on a semi-private webpage and shared with bylaw officers and police if need be.Check your city's bylaws. As for insurance, i've never heard any of them inquiring if you are living in it. Just if it's for personal or business use. Dunno where you'll be bathing. Good luck with all that.

>>2987791Commercial type vehicles will give you away every time. At least try for a Sprinter as it stands out less. A regular old full size conversion van would blend in on residential streets the best but homeowners are quite aware of what belongs on their street and what does not and sometimes get aggressive toward those who dare to park on "their" section of the street. Probably have to stay around apartment complexes to avoid that. You'd think industrial parks would be a place to be ignored but business owners and employees are just as aware of what belongs as homeowners with the main difference being they'll just sic the cops on your ass instead of getting personal about it.
>>2987935Speaking of Mercedes/Dodge Sprinter vans, here's an idea. Since those things get used all time as courier/hotshot vehicles they're seen parking in the 4 wheeler sections of truckstops all the time (they park over there so as to not piss of a trucker by taking a truck parking spot). They usually look like hell but the main tell is they'll frequently have a generator chained to a receiver hitch mount and some shittily installed a/c unit hanging off the back of it, or on top of it someway. Go blend in with them.
>>2987898Nah im pretty sure the guy living in a box truck is devoid of a life from drugs, booze and foods inducing diarrhea at 4am.
>>2987791Just go to Canada and ask for the Canadian special at the nearest hospital. It's far better than living in a box truck.
