I love the look of jean jackets. I The only thing I don’t like is that I have to wear black jeans or khakis with them. The blue jean on blue jean look is so hard to pull off… I just got a levi trucker jacket a few months ago but haven’t worn it much because I can’t quite nail the look. any tips?

what has become of this board

What is a good alternative?
>>
>>18525902
Stop it. Just be normal. Buy a normal jacket and wear it because it's a little cold out. That's the reason why you would wear a jacket. Not to "express yourself" or "the look". Be normal about it for once
>>
>>18525913
A denim jacket is a normal jacket
>>
>>18525918
Not for you. There's no real reason for you to be needing a denim jacket. Little boy wants to play big strong cowboy home on the range. Maybe if you wear the costume of your grandfather you might become as he was. You hope.

Denim on denim works if they're two separate shades (dark blue jacket, light blue pants)

Or embrace the Canadian Tuxedo

jeans are pants there is no such thing as a jean jacket
>>

Jeans is another name for denim.

So you don't buy a jacket because it looks nice? Then why the hell are you even on this board, /fa/ggot?

What you posted is a type iii denim jacket. That said denim jackets are inherently stupid and lack function. They're meant to be armor for your clothes when working. They have negative water resistance and are cold in winter and hot and unbreathable in summer. Denim is a horrible material and duck canvas has eclipsed it in its original function of duribility. You can work in it still, obviously. But you'll be a larper like wranglerstar.

>>18525822
imagine wearing a jean jacket while riding your bike LOL
>>
>>18527001
Levis did a special edition just for that. It was called the commuter jacket and it was waterproof, stretchy, and vented with 3m reflectors on the cinch buttons
>>
>>18527006
It also had a longer tail and sleeves to keep you dry
>>
>>18527006
i would not be caught dead wearing that
>>
>>18526637
I work on the railroad and wear jeans everyday for work pants. Half of my coworkers wear less thick but more breathable pants. Idk what the material is. They seem to work good, but they don’t last as long as denim. But then again, denim is less comfortable. It is all about whether you value comfort or durability more.
>>
>>18525822
You can generally pull off the double denim as long as your jacket and jeans are different shades. Do not go triple denim
>>
>>18527015
I never saw one with a packaway hood like that. But I remember them coming in multiple colors and they did run this for quite a few years with the 511s of them being particularly popular with a double gusset crotch and the 3m reflectors on the cuff seams. It also had a bike lock strap along thr beltline and was waterproof treated too. A lot of people waterproof with a mixture of clear silicon and mineral spirits which I think is how they did it considering how rubbery they felt. I don't think it was just a scotch guard treatment.

>>18527037
You can wear as much denim as you want in the modern meta.
>>
>>18525822
you can wear anything you want wit it it just depends on how you style it and the occasion. you can roll up the sleeves and run it with shorts and a tank top if its lightweight since it doesnt insulate much. as it fades it will be more flexible with blue jeans but you can roll like that anyway if you have other colors and accessories to break up the block of blue. dont be a yupie faggot pretending to be working class though,, if your one of them just wear a rainbow blazer instead.
>>
>>18527595
denim jackets aren't larping as working lmao
>>
All you guys do is make fun of people wanting to explore themselves, grow up…
>>
>>18527908
Excuse you. We never made fun of people for fingering themselves.
>>
>>18525920
What do you consider a normal jacket? Because if you actually go outside, you're going to see a lot of normal people wearing normal denim jackets.
>>
>>18525822
People wear blue on blue denim all the time, it looks fine as long as you're not some fat r*ddit neckbeard. Or just get a black jacket, they look better anyway.

>>18526637
You know they make waterproofing sprays, right?
>>
>>18525920
LMAO is a denim jacket now the same as suit jacket/blazer for you negrified faggots? Pretty soon the only thing that is not "larpy" enough for you niggers will be a wifebeater and boxers.
>>
>>18527999
For some reason /fa/ggots think ubiquitous garments that everyone and their mother wear are either imposdible to pull off or larping.

>>18528019
The larping argument is extremely retarded and something I've never heard outside of /fa/. It doesn't make sense.

Denim jacket
>LMAO, you're not a cowboy
Leather jacket
>LMAO, you're not a biker
Tweed jacket
>LMAO, you're not a college scholar
Blazer
>LMAO, le classy gentleman
Harrington
>LMAO, grandpa
Technical outdoorsy jacket
>LMAO, you're an urbanite

And do on and so forth.
>>
>>18525920
wtf i always worn a trucker jacket with my 511s nows that frown upon?
>>
>>18528064
If you don't wear a hoodie and sweatpants, you're too fancypants for /fa/.
>>
>>18527015
>>18527499
I have that exact jacket. Got it from a Buffalo exchange for $30 in the early 2010s. Fixed gear bikes were big back then. You have to remember that this was what people liked during the whole hipster era. Also found a pair of commuter 511s at savers later. The commuter line is gone, but Lee still makes jeans with diamond gussets.

I own a padded demin jacket and it's maybe the single most comfortable piece of clothing in my wardrobe.
It traps heat extremely well when closed and it's thick enough that even when it rains it's never been heavy enough for it to soak through before I'm able to take it off (and certainly not before whatrever pants I'm wearing soak through first). Really though it's pretty rare that I'll just stand outside in the rain getting wet, and by winter rain is generally rare (normally it's either nothing or snow).

It also just looks cool, and I think the light denim of the jacket pairs well with either classic navy jeans or brown chinos.
>>
>>18525920
Sounds like a denim cowboy fucked your crush.
>>
>>18525822
>>18525936
denim on denim = canadian tux no matter what, but
>Denim on denim works if they're two separate shades (dark blue jacket, light blue pants)
this but the opposite. blue dark wash jeans - > light wash blue jacket. it mimics natural light and much easier to style. but if you have nothing but medium/light wash jeans, then the opposite makes the most sense.
>>
>>18528139
You can waterproof anything with a mixture of clear silicone and mineral spirits. Mix 2/3 mineral spirits to 1/3 silicone up and then paint brush paint whatever fabric you want with the silicone and it will waterproof it without much color difference at all. And it's still washable. Just leave it outside to dry for a day and it's good to go.
