Fade update on the Freewheelers 1947
>>18526920what is the loose / classic fit on levi's? is it the 505? I think I'd like a bit less slim
>>18526967Yes, but if you buy a 1950s 501 cut it will also fit more relaxed
>>18526970I always had trouble with slim jeans (in this case is super skinny) because when I started hitting the gym, by some weird reason I loved to do quads exercise, and now I have this weird shape around my quads (of course not in the same level of picrel, but is overdeveloped in comparison to my entire body)what jeans should I look for?
>>18526920'member when 9oz was considered heavy weight? Yeah.... Where did we go wrong? How did we become such roidheads?
>>18526982Just depends on your budget. I also have thicker quads from the gym and I fit nicely into:>Warehouse 1001xx 1953>TCB 50s>Wrangler 13MWZ>Fullcount 0105 (pic related)Most of those are jap made 501 repros with the exception of the Wranglers, so they will range in price from $180-300. Wranglers are the more budget pair with a slightly more slim cut, but they generally look really fucking good on dudes with athletic builds and their relative value is basically unmatched. If you want a pair of jap made 501 repros, the better value pair is the TCB 50s which are around $180 last time I checked. If you want the absolute widest and most comfortable out of all those, the Fullcount 0105 is the one. In my opinion, the absolute best looking, most well rounded cut are the Warehouse 1001xx 1953. They also make a pair of 1001xx that replicate a pair of 1947 repros, but the 1953 version is slightly more relaxed. Beside all of these, I've heard great things about the Left Field Smokestacks.
>>18526982Freenote Modesto
>>18526982Obviously, OBVIOUSLY you have to wear Dries Van Noten type ultra high-rise, ultra- baggy fits since they will fit you like straight legs.
>>18526967The original 505 from 1967 was a slimmer version of the 501 with a zip fly. During the 80s and 90s the rise got a bit higher and the overal cut a bit roomier. The 551 model is also a somewhat loose cut, also introduced in the 60s.But if you just want a classic jean that fits roomier than the 501 you can try the '54 501. Basically a 501 with wider legs and seat while the waist is about the same. >>18526982If you want a slim cut, most brands carry a variation of the athletic fit, which is a tapered cut but wider in the legs and seat. Levis has the 541 model.
got my pendleton wool shirt I bought off ebaythis shit is comfy as fuck
>>18526987>8 oz US made selvedge for the equivalent of 20 bucksthat's the real tragedy
How bad is 1% elasthane on jeans? I've got these '93 501s 99% cotton and 1% elasthane which I like a lot. But I've heard elasthane jeans age poorly.
>>185272891 percent won’t mess with the durability of the jeans much. I personally prefer jeans with a 1-2 percent synthetic blend since it gives the jeans a bit of stretch.
>>18527289I would guess it only helps with durability, less repetitive stress. Somehow I prefer pure cotton because it feels more like you're wearing something substantial, but in reality having elasticity is clearly a boon.
>>18527824To me the draw toward denim is all the imperfections and character. A well worn in pair of cotton selvedge denim is going to look and feel way better than some mall slop elastane jeans. Apart from the cut, the imperfections in the weave and the eventual blowouts in the knees are what make a pair of selvedge jeans look great. To a certain extent, I’d argue that distressed clothing even outside of denim generally looks better. I only care about “durability” to a certain degree. Then again, I’m not working some job on a concrete crew where I subject my clothing to massive amounts of daily stress.
>>18526920How dark do you guys like your denim? I bought this pair the other day and I really like the dark indigo color on them. Some like lighter washes, but I want to make the dark wash lighter myself over time.
>>18527824It's not a boon. Most of the times they elastane will just blow out after a few washes and stretch the whole pants by a size or two. My size 30 jeans with 2% spandex fit more like 32 now.
>>18526920Jeans are starting to fade. Fucks sake, hate this shit. Looks like something an Indian would wear.
>>18527919Depends on the season I guess. But that usually is the best colour denim.
If I could find a pair of jeans that'd fit me like Ed Chigliak's I'd happily throw all my other jeans away. Of course Darren E. Burrows has chadlike proportions. What's the best fitting jeans you've ever had?
What is anon's opinion on thick denim jeans for winter time? Do they look funny with their structured shape?
>>18528460His look like a relatively more slim variation of the 501 with some taper. I would check out Freewheelers 1951 or the TCB 50s
>>18527853>Apart from the cutthis is where im fucked. the 511s suit my slim silhouette but the last pair i bought was 70% cotton, 28% lyocel and 2% elastine. can i get 100% 501s? yeah. but in my case:fit/silhouette/what looks best > material. what good are the 100% jap selvedge cotton if i look like a clown?
>>18528588What jap raws did you wear? They didn’t fit you well assuming because they were too relaxed or the seat was too large?
>>18528520My problem is that I have big thighs and ass, so most straight jeans tend to have too much fabric from the knee down. The tapered cuts have too much taper and make my legs look completely unbalanced, very top heavy.
>>18526967555
>>18528950Go for Fullcount 0105 or Black Sign Vocalion jeans. They have very large top blocks with not much taper
>>18528491Umm, what do people wear in winter if not jeans?
>>18528460nudie rad rufus for me. i have big legs from squats and they fit perfectly. no stretch, a bit of taper but not too much. no need to size up in the waist.
thoughts on this jap denim for everyday all around
>>18528491I wear my iron heart 634s in -20c tempsthey're just fine
>>18527919I love rigid/raw. That goes for trucker jackets and denim shirts too.Pic related is the model I'm currently wearing.
how many times do you guys roll up your jeans? what's the acceptable amount to length ratio
>>18527919i already have that wash, but since i habe so many itd take forever to get them lighter so got picrel for 30 bucks
>>18529536I’m 6’1 and my perfect cuff is a single 1.75” - 2” cuff, it’s just what worked with me. There’s not really a one size fits all approach to cuffing since the thickness of the cuff should look balanced in relation to your overall height and proportions. However, you should not triple cuff and I think if you want to double cuff it should be absolutely no bigger than 2” thick. It also looks goofy if the bottom of your cuff/hem is resting above your ankles, totally unnatural way to wear your pants. My gauge of where to rest the bottom of my cuff is based off of the position of my cuff in relation to the star symbol on the interior ankle of a pair of high top chucks. If the bottom of my cuff is resting halfway up that symbol or higher, the cuff is too high and looks tryhard and unnatural. This is why I generally like to have a tiny break/stack on top of my footwear, it looks and feels better to me
>>18526932How long have you been fading those? How often do you wear them?
>>18529536I do the tokyo cuff, so twice.
>>18527919Dark indigo is the best color in the world and it is a shame that jeans are designed to loose exactly that feature. We have the means to create everlasting indigo denim, but they keep pushing that shitty muh fadez narrative for NPCs. “It’S like A wOrK oF ArT dudE xD”. Not really, you just lost the only thing that made your jeans interesting and not reddit: their color.
>>18529525>>18529650I love the look and feel of a dark, crisp indigo, rigid new pair of jeans. However I also love how they change and mold with use. It's kind of a trap, really, to get you to buy new jeans every so often.I enjoy the process and don't speedrun the fading. Also I got too many pairs to commit to just one for a thousand wears.
>>18529643I got them in January and have had different periods where I wear them more frequently. Been cycling between these, some Iron Heart 1955s, and Real McCoys Lot 001xx. I’ve been pretty committed to them the last couple weeks, and whenever I do wear them it’s usually like 1.5-2 weeks at a time. 4 washes so far. After some good time with them, I actually think Freewheelers is arguably the absolute best repro 501 company. The overwhelming majority of repros are not much different from one another in terms of “quality” or “durability”, so you usually end up just going with whichever cuts fit you best. Freewheelers on the other hand not only have 10/10 cuts, but they also have an actual tangible increase in durability due to the thicker density of stitching, and the construction of these are literally flawless with what is definitely the cleanest stitch work ive ever seen. All their hardware and details are just a step above everyone else in quality too. Their leather patch uses an actual dense, sturdy piece of veg tan and the ink is not volatile at all, it’s like it got embedded into the fibers of the leather.
>>18529798Yeah, they look great. I take it you like them better than the ih 1955?
>>18530498Well, I consider the IH1955 to be a completely different category than the FWs. One is more of an accurate repro with 14 oz, the other is heavyweight with cut modifications. If I had to choose between the two, I’d probably have to go with the FW because:>Superior cut without any gay ass millennial taper >Denim is more interesting, slightly more texture >The combination of the regular weight and timeless cut makes it way easier to style
went back in my camera roll and saw pictures of my fresh century denim and got sadit was so much more beautiful before the wear
Any experiences with denim not made from cotton?
Use spirolactone. Spirolactone is a diuretic which, in large doses, inhibits DHT.It is regularly prescribed as an anti-estrogen for female to male HRT, and thus, comes with an astronomically lower risk of sexual side effects in men.
>>18532648>denim not made from cotton
>>18532654Contrary to popular belief, denim is a type of weave, not a fabric.
Are Levi's lvc still vanity sized? Can get Levi's 501 1954 half off for about 160 USD. Are they worth it?
>>18532725yes i haven't been a 31 waist since i was 14
>>18532725Nvm forgot it's probably shrink to fit lel
>>18532648I've had a pair with a cotton and hemp mix. Lightweigjh summer jeans, very comfy. >>18532725As far as I know all lvc will shrink a bit after the first wash. Sometimes a whole size. Probably a good idea to size up. The 1954 are a bit roomier than the standard 501, ask for meassures if you can. If they're 2cm or so bigger in the waist than your best fitting jeans, you should be good after the wash.
>>18529550What model is it ?
>>18532653This guy looks cool
>>18532725Not sure about LVC, but 1953-1955 are hands down the best years for the 501. Slightly boxier fit compared to the 1947 which ends up being more comfortable
>>18532834Thank you. I invented this thread and in fact was the first person to discuss denim on the internet. I am also a 38 year old unemployed manlet schizophrenic faggot.
Fuck bros. Just a bit less than a month till I can wear my overshirts and my thicker t-shirts over long pants and two months til I wear my work jackets with Dickies pants. I can't fucking believe it's almost cold again.
>>18534654Fall time is near. You know what that means, new iron heart flannels
>>18534685I'm not retarded enough to pay IH prices for anything. I bought 3 Wrangler flannels last year for 80 euro total and I'm set.
>>18534700Let me you haven’t worn an IH flannel without telling me you haven’t worn an IH flannel
>>18534654I’m considering blowing part of my annual bonus check on a Freewheelers N1 jacket
I'm poor, and I thrift Levi's almost exclusively, -- and only when the wash & material are really decent(dark blue, grey, etc.), -- and the only pairs I find that are decent are 510s. Although I go in desiring 501s, I find I am slowly being pussywhipped into liking skinny jeans. -- I am skinny and even have a thigh-gap(I'm a guy), -- but I doubt women comprehend that I'm not a faggot. I actually love my Levi's skinnies!>Question: are they Americana?>**I find Dwight Yoakam for instance, is a great example of man in skinny jeans.
Any wool jeans you'd recommend?
>>18534789>wool jeansUmmmmm
>>18534654Got a flannel shacket last spring at an outlet with inner and side pockets. Can't wait to wear the shit out of it this fall/winter.>>18534787I consider skinnies more rockstar than americana. I don't hate slim fits, just the low waist aggressive millennial taper. I don't think most guys (myself included) should wear skinny or slim fits at all. I wish I had long slender legs instead of tgese stubby boulders, but even before I touched a weight for the first time I've always had masdive quads. To the point tgat people used to ask me if I was a soccer player.
The pleated jeans from the recent Uniqlo C drop are tuff
How do I bleach/light-wash my old jeans in a way that the fade comes out evenly spread?
>>18534754You figured it out through the no retardation clause.
>>18526920Denim is not workware. It was when it was cheep, these days you'll see more working people wear slacks. Denim is for fake cowboys.
>>18535434So, americana?
>>18535435Unlikely... seen it run around in so many other cultures that I don't think we can call it ours.
>>18535434>be contractor >wear jeans on job sites>80% of contractors wear jeans too >”not workwear”lol
>>18535502Ha, you're old.
>>18535547>>18535441>>18535502You mean cargo pants?
>>18535434Yes it is. Jeans are still pretty fucking cheap. You can buy Rustlers and regular Wranglers for like 15-20 dollars. Jeans with plastic slop mixed in them are even cheaper. Even workers in 3rd world countries wear jeans because they're cheap and durable. Levi's and Japanese selvedge autism denim brands aren't the only brands in the world. There are 1000s of brands across the world that produce cheap as fuck denim.
>>18535434And what do you and the people around you wear everyday?
>>18535555I have rustlers for my beater jeans. They are decent but i do not expect them to last long based upon the reviews. It does however have decent stitching.
Any alternative to the Levi’s 513? The only jean cut that I get compliments on and I’ve tried a lot of different Levi’s. Would like something in raw denim or just an alternative brand to mix it up. It gives me a really nice shape. Slim in the thighs and just enough room in the calves to not be a skinny jean. 200% never owned a pair of jeans like these before.
>>18535561They're still much more durable than any slacks. I think he was confusing work pants with slacks.
>>18535569Never wore slacks how bad is it? I feel like some chino's have better working material than that. Also durability i find true spec/military cargo pants to be pretty decent.
recently copped a pair of these and they go well with everything
Thoughts on wearing wide leg jeans with no break at all?
>>18535863As long as they aren't women's baggy jeans that faggot zoomers wear these days. And never go wider than loose fit.
>>18535870Also, don't sag them. Wear them at your proper hips or waist (if they're mid or high rise respectively) to get the proper look. And wear your correct waist size. Don't size down and sag them like a fatty or a homosexual.
>>18535870>>18535874And still the same thoughts without a cuff too? I have some non-selvedge which I won't cuff with a 19" opening and they hang perfectly smoothly without a break at all since my thighs fill out the top pretty well, sometimes it feels like they could almost be too short but they're literally just kissing the top of my foot which is the perfect inseam I guess
This is the type of designer of these amazing japanese made americana items.
>>18536551>japanese designer looks japaneseShocking
>>18526920>workwear generaldo you bitchass fags even have jobs?
denim
I bought my hecking epic raws and worn them maybe 30 times they still look completely brand new? Is this normal??
>>18536909Yeah. One month isn’t really going to show much. Stay consistent and after about 3 months is typically when I start to see some noticeable fading. Sweat and movement are the two factors that cause fades
I have the fucking thunder thighs. I lost a lot of weight in the past few years but it just keeps happening. Is it over for me? Should I even bother with 100% cotton selvedge if it's just gonna rip at the crotch no matter what I do?
>>18537218Just buy really wide legged pairs
>>18536756I'm a welder and I've just bought a 33oz denim jacket I will be use during the winter because the shop gets hella cold and lighter jackets eventually beads jumping through the fabrics. I will regret this decision.
>>18537218Then stop wearing slim fit jeans you fag.
>RIPTime to dust the ole storm rider
What do you guys think of my new jacket
What do the no-wash denim guys do about keeping your jeans clean for months at a time? I have two pairs I rotate through out the week but I still fart in them, do labor in them, and get the occasional pee dribble by accident. I get tempted to wash them at least by hand after a while.
>>18538518them tits pockets are stupid and the wash is an ugly blue
i love black denim
>>18538531Denim and indigo dye are antibacterial so they are good at keeping smells at bay. I hang my jeans to air between wears and they rarely smell. However, the going months without washing is for when ypu want high contrast fades. If you don't care about them, you just wash when you feel they need it.
>>18538819>Denim and indigo dye are antibacterialDenim, the weave, is antibacterial? And indigo, the color itself, no longer made from natural indigo, is also antibacterial?Wow very nice, today I learned!
>>18536756yes
>>18536756I work from home doing software dev.
>>18538836Glad to be of help.
>>18538836>no longer made from natural indigoStop being poor and buy some actual denim for once anon.
>>18538974
>>18538988Or you could be not retarded.
>>18539000Interesting reaction to getting blown the fuck out.
>>18539025You think pointing out that you can buy natural indigo denim is blowing anyone the fuck out after they told you to just buy some?
I am too short for carharttit's so joever
I want to dress like a zoomer and less like a “mature and distinguished” unc. What are some good zoomer baggy or flared jeans that aren’t ridiculously expensive shit from Japan?
>>18539133Zoomers don't wear autist denim. Look at Abercrombie and Weekday for zoomer jeans
