Especially if it's something they feel they deserve. The immediate response from most people is jealousy, followed by some internal explanation of why the other person doesn't actually deserve it, and how the world is conspiring against them to deny them what they're owed.These feelings really come out when people are experiencing a pronounced gap between the levels of what they and this other person have, if a woman is a 6/10 looking at a 7/10, she can justify a situation in her mind where she's more attractive, and move on, same with a man that's 5'9 being able to make peace around a man that's 5'11. But when that 6/10 is around a 9/10, or that 5'9 man is around a guy that's 6'3? The illusion is gone, they can't convince themselves they're on the same level, and the mental gymnastics that usually go toward justifying that fantasy, just go toward hate
