Yeah, I'd say it's pretty safe. I blind bought it, and although it wasn't exactly what I was expecting, it still smells good and I've gotten compliments on it.
Compared to other "spicy" colognes I've tried, it's much heavier on the spice and not as sweet.
In any case, it's popular for a reason. Very strong, but not polarizing. Most people either love it or don't mind it, at worst.
