Early 00s (and just much of the 00s in general before thrift store hipsters popped out, remember when thrifting was good btw?) were too uniform. Tight top this, low-waist baggy bottom that. Not a good time for men who prefer personal style over fashion trends. You'd be very hard pressed to find the right clothes if you were aiming for a different silhouette. The natural silhouette of the 80s and early 90s was considered "dated", and the only thing that is positive about 2010s and 2020s is that there is no such concept as "dated" anymore unless we're talking about something extremely hyped on tiktok or whatever, but even then you have to be under 18 to care. We're allowed far more stylistic liberties nowadays.
