Depends on the garment. Jeans can go a while without washing, same with jackets -- depending, of course, on how dirty they are.

Shirts, underwear, socks, et al. should be washed frequently with wear.

underwear and "at home" clothing like old band tees i constantly change and wash, pants when necessary and tops depends on season but i can usually stretch out a few more wears by spraying them with alcohol if i sweat to prevent bacteria and bad smells, letting me stick with spot cleaning instead of doing a huge swathe of laundry
