What are your thoughts on Wrangler Rustler Jeans?
Jap denim elitist here. I wear vintage 501 cuts most of the time (pic related), but the Wrangler 13MWZ is objectively a wonderful cut with zero restriction on comfort and functionality, and they are without a doubt the absolute best value pair you can buy. It’s not my favorite denim in the world, but they at least sell it raw and the fades you get are vibrant and look great. If you want a slim cut pair of jeans that does a great job of accentuating your ass and providing full movement in the crotch area at a price tag of $40, you cannot go wrong with them. Mega hyped, but completely deserving of their status
>>18549037Another denim snob checking in. Wrangler/Rustler gets the seal of approval. If you're not trying to spend jap prices or just want a pair of beaters they're as good as it gets. The fit is excellent, the fabrics blow everything else you can get at that price out of the water. These Rustlers made it through a couple years of construction and cost me less than lunch. Round House is also great if you want something made in USA with USA cotton at a USA mill. I think they might outsource the hardware/metal bits due to necessity but that's it.
Here's how the indigo Rustlers look when faded.
I like mine but I rarely wear them over my Iron Heart 634s or my dyed levi 505s
I bought three pairs of them several months ago on sale for less than $20 each. They're goofy dad jeans that I wouldn't be caught dead wearing outside of a physical labor context, but they're durable and a steal for that price.
>>18549037>Wrangler 13MWZhow do you rank them against redkap? imo redkaps denim is better, but they cheaped out on the actual sewing, loose beltrings and such
>>18549050What’s the sizing like on Rustlers? TTS?
>>18550153all my pairs are tag size 30, measure 29.5"-30", and are fully shrunk from cold washing and tumble drying. they probably run slightly big when new. fit is a slim straight if tumble dried and a straight fit on the slim side if not. the leg is just ever so slightly slimmer than 13mwz's. there is a relaxed fit version too.
Black ones fit well but don't hold up long unless you hand wash. Meanwhile I the pairs of levis I bought long before the wranglers have barely lost color after many machine washes.
>>18550196that's because there's a bunch of different methods dye black jeans. some are intended to fade, some not. https://www.nudiejeans.com/en-US/blog/diving-into-darkness-nudie-jeans-guide-to-black-denimthe rustlers are sulfur dyed which is the type that eventually fades to gray and sort of fades like indigo. the sulfur chemically reacts to heat and turns gray so yeah you ideally want to hand wash them cold and hang dry. you could machine wash cold/delicate and hang dry too, it takes them a long time to gray that way.
>>1854903713mwzs are only slim if you're a fatfuck with a dump truck ass, and you've washed all the shrink out of them.
>>18550185why does everyone keep telling themselves these cuts are slim? actual slim jeans that /fa/ hates are the only ones that fit that description. these things are baggy as shit on anyone with legs not built like dude bro farm boys.
>>18553441>>18550185So where do the skinny redneck white guys in the south and midwest get their jeans then?
>>18553441What you think are "slim" jeans are skinny jeans. What used to be skinny jeans in the 2000s are considered slim straight jeans today. This shit in picrel is what passes for "slim" jeans these days, when they're actually skinny jeans.
>>18553474These are the epitome of the default skinny jeans. Not stretch, not drainpipe, not super skinny, just plain basic skinny. They’re the kind you’d find at Old Navy or American Eagle. The skinniest jeans I’ve ever owned were these anorexic-tier jeans from Topman NY that only bony people could pull off.
>>18553513whats the differnece between skinny jeans, stretch jeans, drainpipe jeans, super skinny jeans, plain basic skinny jeans and anorexic tier skinniest jeans?
>>18549037>>18549050to be honest i really appreciate the discourse on getting good value from jeans for people who aren't denim masters. i was gonna buy some lee jeans but i might buy wranglers now. or at least keep them in mind because i had disregarded them.
>>18553515They get tighter and the rise is different. Skinny jeans in the UK, for example are like the jeans Hot Topic used to sell but with a higher rise and waist, thus making the legs look longer and slimmer.Super skinny jeans, at least the ones from Topman NY, were like the epitome of emo jeans. Super skinny legs like anime legs yet still ever so subtly had stacks along the calves. The crotch was also higher.
>>18553554Interesting
>>18553443Mall brands. Young dudes just end up with American Eagle, Levis, Lee, etc. The old dudes buy cheap shitty brands like Rural King or the Rustlers.
>>18553590They actually buy it from malls? Cuz all the malls near me are full of nigs and spics.
>>18553592Malls, department stores, whatever big box store/rural supply store is nearby. Thrift shops, discount stores.. There's plenty of places and I live smack dab in the middle of redneck land.
>>18553602Any of them wear wrangler?
>>18549012They are just basically Cowboy Cuts with less branding, right hand twill denim, a slightly shorter rise and bar tacks instead of rivets. Not amazing, but not terrible for what they are. The raw versions are slightly cheaper and seem to fade okay. They're pretty much exclusively what i wear for work anymore, and have seemed to hold up well enough aside from a few holes from welding.
>>18553604The cheap Walmart 5-star wranglers? Rarely but yes. I have seen maybe one person in the last five years in the wild that had Cowboy Cuts on. They don't really seem very popular outside of online spaces like this where I am.
>>18549037I like my 13mwz more than my Samurai’sIt’s all I wear now. Broken twill is a nice oddity, and the extra belt loops keep them from sagging even with a full size CZ75 in my waistband >>18553525Hard to go wrong with the 13mwz. At first they’re a bit too vibrant, but after a handful of washes they fade beautifully
>>18549037if you think 501s, any cut of them, are slim then you are either fat or need to skip leg day for once.
>>18553441bro im like 135 lean and my rustlers fit decently slim after being washed and tumble dried a bunch. of course i could hang dry them, but they're beaters.
>>18554903Where exactly did he say that 501s are slim? He’s talking about wranglers you literal tard
>>18554903they got pretty slim in the 60s levis even marketed them that way.
>>18551852do you know any commonly available black jeans that are meant to hold their color even after repeated washes
>>18549052were these the raw or prewashed rustlers?
>>18556996theyre a pic of a pair a redditor found at a thrift store and they probably started off as the indigo rigid ones. >>18556980nobody really ever says on their website. if they're raw though a reliable way to tell is if they smell like eggs they're sulfur dyed, if they don't they're not, but different chemical dyes have varying degrees of colorfastness themselves. its really hard to get info on this stuff. if you ever bleach random black non-sulfur dye jeans you'll notice they all turn different colors because of the different processes.
>>18557354I suppose polycotton jeans hold their color well too if you wanna bite the bullet.
>>18549012They're ok, I like Wrangler Cowboy Cuts better.
