A simple mind will see a rolex and will think this person has money, but these things are such illogical purchases, if I put down that kind of money on a superficial thing like that, a smart girl will see early that I might not be financially responsible (if I don't own my own home, or have something greater to prove my status). The dumb "smart" girl that got with me because I wore a rolex will only want to be with me because she perceives I am rich, and will look to me for expensive dates and being spoiled. Maybe that is fine for some people, but that isn't the kind of girl I would keep around.

Watchfags know that there are some $8k watches that genuinely are worse than some $500 watches. Most people are completely blind to them anyways, unless they’re into watches themselves. We wear watches because we enjoy them, there’s literally nothing more to it than that. Watches are neat objects with a cool history and symbology, they feel nice to wear and look at the dial and case.
