Also, social media and people's access to it 20 years ago doesn't resemble what it is today. Young women had to learn through printed media and experience. They would be well into their 20s or 30s before they got their shit together and learned what works for them. Today it's way easier for women to get good at it. There was also a societal shift that normalized more intensive makeup routines for daily wear and pressure for younger teenagers to follow suit. This partially substantiates why Gen-Z looks older than they should. Take off that makeup and they really aren't any hotter than the women of 20 years ago. Unless you're really into tattoos and nose piercings.
