/wt/ edition This thread offers a forum to discuss and debate wristwatches, pocket watches, and clocks. Several members here are highly knowledgeable in specified areas of horology, so please contribute to the thread by asking questions and/or asking for advice if you are planning on purchasing a watch from an AD or the grey market. Please post pics of your watches here; it doesn't matter if it's worth 5$ or 50000$, because there might be someone who wishes to eventually purchase the same model that you own and would love to hear some real-world advice regarding ownership. The experience matters the most, not the price.Everyone is welcome in this thread, because we are all Frens here.Previous Based Thread: >>18548534

Will crosspost here, too.Thoughts?I like the green dial a little more because the color is unique and it seems more textured, but my brain is telling me blue is the safer choice that will be easier to match.Keep going back and forth.
Post your perfectly balanced four watch collection.

>>18552574Which one am I?
>>18552616I also make autistic watch charts in GIMP, but after seeing yours I think I finally understand what the 4 categories should be."Beater" is not a specific type of watch, which is good. Your "Beater" could be a digital watch, a field watch, a dive watch, or something else. It's the USE of the watch that makes it a "Beater.""Dress", "field", and "aquatic" are all too specific, unlike beater. "Formal", "Casual", and "Tool" works better. But then we run into the issue that "Tool" and "Beater" have a lot of overlap. For this, I propose we add the "Stealth" category, which is a watch you specifically wear when you don't want to attract attention, but still want a watch. You can absolutely have an expensive or flashy "Tool" watch that you use as a "Beater" which will not overlap with the use-case of your "Stealth" watch. With the four categories "Stealth" "Tool" "Casual" "Formal" you can express the full breadth of the four-watch collection without type-specific limitations.Of course you could then argue that "Casual" and "Tool" overlap, but I don't think so, because tool watches take advantage of larger case sizes that would be overkill for a casual watch styled with normal attire.Your thoughts?

>>18552711>TudorNow that you mentioned Tudor... It... It just dawned on me; Tudor is actually better than Rolex.Tudor is a master chronometer while Rolex is "superlative". What does that mean in practise? Rolex doesn't even do third party certification on them, instead they do their own testing and deem it "better".I'm so glad I went with my BB54, after getting it, I don't even think about Rolex. In a world where Rolex screams status, Tudor whispers taste. A Rolex is the billboard of success, but Tudor? It’s the secret handshake of those who know better. You pay less, yet get a sibling forged in the same fires—Swiss precision, timeless design, and none of the "look-at-me" hysteria. A Tudor is a poet's watch; a Rolex, a salesman’s pitch. Why spend double to impress strangers when you could spend less and impress yourself?

He can hear if your watch beats at 36000 ticks per hour or if it's 36001.But to some, he's just a friendly neighborhood rodent who can give you advice even for 100 year old Soviet Watches.Between heaven and /wt/, he alone is the honoured one.

What is even the point of the third hand on a watch with a non-hacking movement? With hacking, I can set the time precisely every morning and expect the watch to still be precise to a couple seconds in the evening. But if I can't stop the third hand to set it, it's always in a completely random position, so it serves no purpose.

>>18553760>black turdyou got scammed
Tudor is actually better than Rolex.
>>18553907Then bracelets are not for you.
>>18554038This is my onion is well.I've never had on-the-fly micro-adjust, and half-links are more than enough to make a bracelet fit properly. People have been wearing these types of steel bracelets for what, 80 years? And only in the last few years - as a cope to make GS look bad - do we see an obsession with bracelet sizing. And of course, none of the people complaining even own a watch.
>>18554057Straps are better anyway. There is a use for bracelets but i think a nice watch belongs on a strap.
>>18554068forgot pic
>>18554035True.>>18554038>>18554074>>18554068>>18554057Heavier watches do better on straps and shift less from the friction of material vs. metal. Certain lugs don't look good on straps though, submariners look absolutely ass on a strap.
>>18554115I don't understand why you'd buy a rolex just to put it on a strap. The bracelet is the best part of their watches. It's like going to a steak house and ordering chicken. It's like watching Hitomi Tanaka porn for her ass.
>>18554129>I don't understand why you'd buy the most famous dive watch in the world only to put it on a bracelet that's entirely unusable for divingTruly a mystery.Rolex lost the plot a long time ago tbqfh.
>>18554136How on earth is it unusable for diving?
>>18554147Have you ever had a PADI cert?Try fitting a metal bracelet over a wetsuit, it is not going to fit even with the adjustments maxed out, the wetsuit increases the circumference of your wrist too much. Only bracelet that I've seen that solves that is the Pelagos bracelet with the extended spring loaded section that basically doubles the adjustable length.Even still, a bracelet is still a poor choice as it's going to slip and slide around due to the water, on a suit or on skin. Rubber straps are best as they grip, NATO straps work alright as long as you keep them tight.
>>18554057Up until recently though, nearly all metal bracelets had substantial microadjustability on their clasps, half links and clasps only having 2-3 adjustments places are quite contemporary. I’ve had a lot of watches, few cheap shitters like orients, a lot of vintage seikos, a Rolex Datejust, Rolex op39, 2 Omega Speedmasters and 3 Grand Seikos. I think it is poorly thought out not having a clasp where you can use a spring bar and a tool to make small adjustments (and the potential to make a lot of them), instead of one relative large adjustment with a half link.
>>18552574Serious question but lads. I’ve got $10k to spend on a watch, I would have already bought a Submariner, but the super case can look weird on a strap as >>18554115Points out. I want something with decent microadjustability
>>18553760I think this place is the only place on the internet that will pretend to hate this watch. What material is it? I can't tell, it looks like leather but at the same time not.
>>18554272Seamaster looks fantastic on a strap, which is great because the new omega bracelet kinda sucks. Most everything else doesn't look that different than the Rolex around the lugs.GO's Seaq would be a great choice quality wise over either, but to be honest I just don't care for the look of the seaq overall.
>>18554285Chopard bros... We're BACK
>>18554163Are you trolling or actually retarded? Be honest.
>>18554284A good option, I wish the Speedmaster and Seamaster weren’t so ((big))
>>18554304They wear smaller than you'd expect because of the bezels. Same with the FF 42mm, the bezel is like half the diameter. Yes, the watch is still big, but it doesn't LOOK so big if your wrist is even close to 15cm. If you consider something like the 40mm Richard Lange, it looks HUGE because it's all dial, no bezel.
>>18554298Certless larper detected.t. Advanced open water + nitrox
>>18554304It's a dive watch, 42mm is perfectly reasonable unless you have small wrists.>>18554365Also true. Only thing that is a negative on the FF is how thick it is, it's a bit tall when you see it.Still a dream list watch though if you could afford it.>>18554298Feel free to post your bracelet dive watch that you actually dive with.Rubber is king for an actual dive watch, like I said. NATO works, too, but needs to be washed/rinsed and they tend to fall apart/rot quickly regardless from saltwater.
>>18554383Yeah it's a thick watch. I would prefer a manual wind if it could be thinner (would be inconvenient with the crown). The finishing on the movement is also really nice, not sure if there are any other divers with open casebacks that have such quality finishing.I've thought about it, but I'd probably only wear it for diving and I don't dive nearly enough. Maybe one day I will. Better to spend that money on dive trips for now.
>>18554383>>18554366How thick is your wetsuit?
>>18554421About 3mm, so 6mm increase to wrist diameter. That's approx 19mm change in circumference! Below a certain depth it gets really cold even if you're in a warm climate so I basically always wear a wetsuit.
>>18552574Lads, maybe a 14060 Rolex Submariner might be up my alley

>>18554518Yeah, like 34 meters. Been in a wreck too, very memorable.>>18554520lol>>18554524The idea of pressing a button and sliding your bracelet to different sizes is really off-putting to me. I don't want to be fiddling with my watch. In this specific case however, that's pretty cool. Do you dive with that watch? Personally I don't wear a watch when diving because I usually never go near my limits and I'm diving with guys using dive computers who I just follow. Yes, I'm a casual. Like I said before, I hope I have the time to invest in taking diving seriously one day.

>>18554714What are you talking about? I don't own a Tudor or a Rolex. I have a Speedmaster and a Seiko and I've made a deposit on another watch that I'll recieve soon (but not Tudor or Rolex).
