ive had a lovely jaimesons vest in fair isle pattern for years, also i think harley may have some fair isle options, i have a heavier harley sweater in an icelandic yoke pattern which is also amazing and get tons of compliments from nice old ladies all the time :)

well theres a long tradition of women knitting these patterns for their men to wear while out at sea. wool works really well in wet northern latitudes. and its nice to have a little bit of decoration. yoke patterns like this have a long tradition of interchange between both sides of the north sea and the indigenous people in greenland, its literal living history in a garment

How is the jamiesons fit? Looking to buy a Shetland but but the sizing is confusing. Seems like I’d be an XXL (big shoulders/chest) but the body must be massive at that size

the fit seems comparable to north american sizes. like i wear a large for most outerwear, jackets and vests and this one is a 42"/L. its not too snug but also not blowing in the wind.
