They wanted only to be seen and heard. There is nothing wrong with praying to God with others in a public setting. But to do it for only recognition isn't a reason to be praying. I personally hate to be seen praying, but I dont mind praying with others. We're not making a scene. Not a spectacle. Not trying to get eyes on us. We just want to talk to and worship the Lord.
