why do yuppie millennial gen x like stretch cotton spandex polyester flat front 5 pocket slim fit/skinny fit pants
>>18566616millenials dressed like rockstars and androgynous skinnyboy twinks because that's who the media pushed as the male sex icons of our generation.zoomers dress like rappers and roblox characters because for the same reason, they're who's currently pushed as the male sex icons in the mainstream zeitgeist.young men are usually just trying to get laid.much like the baggy fit the skinny fit at its time was fresh, new, avant garde but eventually got diffused down to mainstream brands and normies and then got played out. all the sudden you had ultra slim tailoring being sold by brands like urban outfitters and uniqlo to customers who don't have the face, haircut, physique or frame to pull the very specific mod/heroin chic/hedi boy/etc look off. the same thing is happening to baggy fits now as people who aren't as fashion forward (laggards) start wearing it, styling it poorly and making it look like shit and all the fast fashion brands cash in.millenials went from baggy -> skinny fit then grew into traditional fits, its probably going to be the same just the other way around for zoomers. you always wind up settling into a timeless style agnostic to trends by 30-40 unless you're a suburban manchild and never grow up. or you get married and stop caring how you look.
you zoomers have no idea how great hedi shit looked back in the early 2000's when the style was gatekept to only the sort of guy who can actually pull it off.the problem is skinny fit and ultra tailored clothes are not democratic. they only look good on a small subset of the population: skinny but not skinnyfat + strong facial features + ideally a mod or long haircut + tall or with long limbs relative to body. if you don't check all the boxes you simply can't pull off the hedi boy look or anything downstream of it.this video's a decent retrospective: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kT1rDjIDUqk
that being said skinny chinos were a travesty. they were only ever popular with office dorks and streetwear sneaker guys at least in my area. now they're the pejeet uniform.
