they don't work

that's not how it works. it's not about what tradie wagies are wearing to work.
it's about historical menswear and how they have influenced modern menswear
americans and their denim and canvas lead to the japanese denim renaissance and the workwear aesthetic today. remember, these people are playing dress up, they're not actually working, because it's not about work.
actual workers wear the cheapest shittiest shit because they wear it out so fast or they get the ugliest shit because it needs to meet safety ratings
japanese workwear came from american workwear and is lots of denim and canvas.
french workwear was a lot of moleskin and mostly chore coats

indian and chinese workwear isn't a thing because they don't have a heritage of this stuff.

Not necessarily. Some workers will save up to buy the best possible quality so that they don't have to replace their gear often. In some circles the idea of bougie workwear came from employees who forego traditional luxuries to get a high quality item. Timberlands are the first example I can think ofJN842

okay, but when it comes to "workwear" we're referring to heritage workwear and for that it's really just the big 3 of american, french and japanese. and japanese is mostly just a reinterpretation of american styles
UK to a lesser extent has some

I think you're asking the right questions. Of course every culture has had "workwear", as we all must work. Although the recent centuries have led clothing in the direction of comfort and style over durability and utility, I think you could likely find many fairly recent examples of what could be considered workwear from countries outside the "big 3". Whether or not you would define it is workwear is another story, as clothing designed for a different type of work in a different climate may not meet your aesthetic sensibilities.

I wish I could inform you better on what that looks like in actuality, but I am only just getting back in to fashion and am unstudied on the topic. Happy hunting!
