So whats the deal with expensive watches over - let's say 10k USD. Would you even wear something like this daily or only on special occasions?
>>
>>18576865
Those watches are meant to be worn daily.
If you feel like you need to "preserve" your watch, or you fear you might get robbed, then your lifestyle and net worth aren't compatible with a watch like this.
You might be able to buy it, but it's still actually out of your budget.
Only buy watches you could lose and replace without issue.

Bros, just give it to me straight: is it true that when you walk into the Rolex boutique the Rolex lady will offer you a glass of her own piss?? Please wtf help I need to know
>>
>>18578003
Offer? Oh nononono. You have to beg for the piss. You have to work to earn the glass of piss.
A humiliation ritual only works if you are humiliated. You can’t just tough it out and keep your dignity intact.
So once you’re done begging and they feel you’ve appropriately debased yourself, they’ll offer you a watch. Not the watch you want, a different watch, a shitty watch. You have to buy it and smile and tell them you love it.
You will look at the misaligned rehaut and observe its terrible amplitude and be reminded that you’re only part way through the ritual.
But in the end, you will get to buy the Daytona you really wanted and you can throw your shitty OP/DJ/Exp1 into the river.

Next purchase will be a black tsuyosa with the rainbow dials. I thought these were a bit queer looking, but I got the light blue with a rainbow dial and it just brilliantly shines, you'd never notice the rainbow coloring unless you look at it dead on, in the right lighting.

hell yeah, sister. let us all know how it works out.

This is a long shot, but I'm searching for the model of watch my grandfather gave me in 2000, which I lost.
It was an analog watch with a small digital dial for a second time zone.
It had protective plastic bars at the top and bottom over the crystal.
It was not a Casio, probably some fashion brand.
Color scheme was black and yellow, with a black fabric strap with yellow stitching.

Reminder that Bittercel is obsessed with a guy who posted for a few weeks over three years ago. That guy gave him the name Bittercel and it completely broke his mind.
Remember that and picture him sobbing with every nasty thing he posts because some guy gave him a name and then left. (Like his dad)
>>

>>
>>18578128
This. He's obsessed with pretty much every avatarfag, but reversocel was his nemesis for reasons unknown. He still hasn't recovered from that.
>>
>>18578150
It’s for two reasons: he gave him the name Bittercel, after that, Bittercel started putting -cel after everything to try and water down the devastation he felt at his own name; and, secondly, he left. He forever robbed Bittercel of the chance to troll every pic the Reverso guy posted.
>>
>>18578077
If it's a 40mm, I rec a 7" wrist as a minimum. If not get a 37mm instead.

t. has 40mm tsuyosa with less than 7" wrist
>>
>>18578064
The dials are getting worse with newer models as they do more and more single-surface dials, going all-in on their entry-level collections. They're looking cheaper and cheaper as time goes.

after more digging: Citizen and Orient also have this kind of date window. Citizen has some similar designs, but I was not able to find that model yet.
Sort of related question: found a vintage Seiko 5 that hits this vibe, but the internals look way too degraded to use it. The case and bracelet are still good, so how realistic is it to replace the crystal, dial and movement with that of a modern Seiko 5?

I think I have pretty small wrists and I'd never wear a 47mm. Especially one that looks like that. It'd be a cool thing for Halloween if you were dressed as a weird time travel dork or something. Otherwise you'd need enormous wrists to pull that off. I don't even know why they make that shit.
This is a 47mm Invicta I retardedly bought 5 years ago when I didn't know anything about watches or sizes. It clearly looks ridiculous.
I can get away with 40 but I feel best as a 38mm man. Never again with this 'dinner plate' shit, as some anon called it.

Nope. The drug eliminates hunger. It doesn’t teach good lifestyle habits. As soon as they get off the drug, the hunger returns.

Think about it critically: why would anyone want to make a weight loss drug that worked when they could, instead, make a drug that users stay permanently dependent on?

>>
>>18613379
The easiest way to get over a watch obsession is to buy a Rolex, realize it's all you'll ever need or want to wear, and get rid of everything else except an inexpensive dress watch for the twice a year you wear a tuxedo. For some people this works with an Omega or a Grand Seiko, but usually it's a Rolex.

I can't afford a Rolex either. But my taste wouldn't change if I did. It's pretty generic that you think Rolex is the king of watches that all watch enthusiasts should aspire to having. Very ordinary and uneducated opinion. I'm sure you're "rich". Actual rich people just LOVE Rolex.
And I'm so very envious of you pretending to have one and be rich. Because people whose dads made money are better than me.

I bow to you and your refined taste in Rolex watches.

Am in the sane boat. I want something vaporwave/cyberpunk-y.

I feel I might be limited by a 13.2 cm wrists... but that's ironically why I'm looking at a dumb watch. I have anorexia and my Apple Watch keeps me in the maladaptive, gamification feedback loops of AN (step count, calorie burn, and my favorite: low heart rate notifications).
Getting a Casio would be tantamount to the scene in Easy Rider where Peter Fonda tosses his watch in rejection of conventional society, schedules, and the "time-bound" world he was leaving behind for a life of freedom on the open road.

$450. Holy lord. If you can afford it and you like it that much, go for it. Treat yourself. That's a goddamn beautiful watch. Too big for me and I'd have a hell of a time paying that for quartz, but it's going to be light and thin as hell because of it and I'm sure all the other specs are top notch at that price with quartz. They'd better fucking be. Chronos look so cool, and that one is just flawless, plus green is my color. But I know I would just never use the chrono features for anything. I still own one, but I never use it. So I'd almost buy that watch on looks alone if it weren't so large. Of course I love that shape the best, where the dial extends the whole case and the lugs are hardly noticeable. That's my favorite look by far. So many look like the two posted above you. They're okay too sometimes if they're not too big. If your chrono there was $350 and 40mm wild horses couldn't keep me away. You should definitely get it as soon as they become available again. And that's one of the best watches on the site.

Meanwhile I'm in love with this one. I just can't drop so much on a single watch. If I can keep from buying a watch for 40 days I will get it. I just know I can't.

Tell me about the chrono24 private seller phenomenon of people selling their used watch they've been wearing for two years at a higher price than some shops are even offering it new.
Not only is there the risk that they send you a box with a rock inside but they can't even offer a competitive price.
In fact I've pretty much never seen a watch sold by a private seller at a decent price, they're always 10% off MSRP at best.

Doesn't look too small to me. What's the case diameter on it? I've not seen any Marlins with that bezel style. Or is that just how extreme the dome is? The ones I've looked at all have dials to the edge and I think at least 12 and 6.
Is that a 38mm or something? If that watch was all dial it'd look fine on your big wrist. Or if the whole thing was a dark color.
Weird how that works. Kind of an optical illusion.
>>
>>18624347
I'm guessing this is at most 18mm lug width which is why it feels like that. And the strap is even thinner than the actual lug width.
I would try it on a padded leather strap if you're unsure, it will definitely add volume.

Yeah, 18mm lug width. I'll look into getting a padded leather strap, but part of the reason why I wanted to wear it was how "space age" retro-futurist it looks on a Milanese bracelet. It just feels a little bit too small, unfortunately.

I've been obsessing over this $200 citizen for a while now. Like the style and it's 36.5mm which is amazing for my 5.9 /15cm wrists. Tried it twice in Japan a few months ago and liked it, tried it again yesterday and realized how fucking silly the sizing actually looks.
I'm now looking for a diver that doesn't look like ass. Seiko's were disappointing and boring, and the last BN026 from citizen will be too big at 40mm.
Anyone with good recs is welcome. Max budget 300-ish.

You're too small, dive watches aren't small
>>
there are no midsize drivers in mainstream jew brands anymore

you have to go san martin or thorn or another ali brand

Orient Kamasu, Lorier Neptune, Aquatico Seastar/Expedition, or some Seiko 5 diver would be your best choices.

What the fuck are you talking about?

What's silly about the size? It should fit like a glove on you. Even on bigger wrists 36-38mm watches are criminally underrated. If you're coming in off of 40mm watches and you never wore anything smaller before it's going to feel strange, but once you get used to it you really don't want to look back.

I agree with you except look at it. I can't even imagine a diver with a bezel being fucking 36mm. I still need to see that on a wrist or next to a quarter or something because I kind of don't believe it.
38mm is my sweet zone and I like a 36mm for dressy vintage so I wouldn't wear a diver anyway, plus I just don't like them. But why even IS there a 36mm looking like that? It IS silly because it's a 36mm diver! So the fact that it's the only diver I feel I could pull off if I wanted to doesn't subtract from the fact that it shouldn't exist in the first place.

I have a 36mm field watch and love the size. But somehow on this diver the dial just felt minuscule.

Love the Lorier Neptune, I think it sits at 40mm tho and I would have to pay custom taxes. Will check your other recommendations.

Wait, why is the minute hand moving so fast?

>Yes I can afford it but I don't think watches are worth so much money
You don't thing ANY watches are worth the price of a Rolex?

I just don't understand why people think Nomos is better than Junghans. Yeah, Nomos has in house movements and good movement finishing, whatever, but Junghans watches just look so much better and more comfortable. The nomos have flat crystals that meet up 90 degrees with the case sides, the dials are so flat, it's all so sterile and inorganic. I love how the Max Bill looks like a smooth round little pebble. Not to mention Junghans doesn't use comically long lugs.
