Because of the briefcase. Briefcases are obsolete now that we have laptops and tablets. And also because of the glasses, those frames do not match the period of the rest of the cosplay.

>>18580913it looks off because he's wearing a hybrid 1930s 1960s 1990s outfit with weird choices. if he was tall, thin and had angular features the outfit would be fine (if he folded over his pants to expose some sock and wore more reasonable shoes and had his gloves on.it's like a time traveller walking in public wearing skinny jeans, a faux fur full length jacket, a pool duck around his waist red pump high heels and night vision goggles. yes those are all broadly late 20th century early 21st century items, but not worn together like that they aren't. if this guy went back in time people would assume because he's asian he doesn't know wtf he is wearing and just humor him. the boxy overcoat suit look worked well when men where very thin 6'2 and 150-170lbs, because their hollow sunken in features matched well with the oversized frame and silhouette, the same way girls today do the oversized fit to complement their elfin childlike qualities. tall thin men look like coathangers so the fashion matched the style. men got fatter and fashions changed. going back is hard unless you fit the perfect greek ideal, which our OP does not.

It doesn't look bad because he mixes things from slightly different time periods or because he's holding his briefcase wrong or the fit is off, that's pseud bullshit trying to contextualize why you instinctively hate it. The real reason is what you clothes say about you, just like a guy dressed in crisp and clean workwear immediately tells you what kind of person he is, so does a guy dressed in 1950s businessman cosplay say a lot about him and none of it is good. It's like those brazilians doing Peaky Blinders cosplay, it's cringe, but not because the clothes aren't perfectly tailored, it's cringe because why the fuck are you dressed like that and acting like that in the year two thousand twenty something.
