>might stop doing melatonin myself
So far this has not gone well... acne's actually gotten worse since I stopped taking melatonin. All I can hope is that it's some kind of transition period due to the hormonal change, but I didn't think it stayed in your system that long from supplements. Otherwise, then there's no correlation or maybe melatonin was actually helping and I should take more, lol, I fucking hate my life

Guys, rate skincare routine. How bad is it? 30y old fag

Morning:
CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser
La Roche-Posay Pure Vitamin C12 Serum
??? The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% - not sure
CeraVe Daily Moisturising Cream or CeraVe Facial Moisturising Lotion SPF50
Optional - Maybelline Poreless Jelly Primer

Evening:
Micellar water on a cotton pad to remove makeup followed by CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser
Retinoids - La Roche-Posay Retinol B3 serum - use every other night
Acids - The Ordinary Mandelic Acid 10% + HA (use only on non-Retinol nights)
??? The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% - not sure
CeraVe Skin Renewing Eye Cream
As face moisturizer - CeraVe Skin Renewing Peptide Cream + The Ordinary 100% Organic Cold-pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil
Nivea, Moisture Lip Care

Weekly:
Sheet Mask or Hydrating Mask (hydrating sheet mask or a cream mask)
Facial Exfoliation with a glove(no retinoids this day and day after)
Clay Mask for nose and T-zone - Beplain Mung Bean Pore Clay Mask
>>
>>18582198
since you're 30 i'd recommend retinoids as opposed to more expensive cosmetic retinol products. Build up tolerance slowly of course.

everything else looks fine
>>
>>18582206
Thank you

On an unrelated note - DAMN! I still can't believe I hit that age already
>>
Can you recommend any products to reduce the sunspots I already have on my face?
>>
>>18581374
sorry to hear that anon. have you been to derm?
>>18582198
its pretty good
>??? The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% - not sure
i would drop this as im pretty sure there is niacinamide in other products you already use. keep in mind only 2-5% concentration was clinically tested, 10% is often times a bit too harsh
>La Roche-Posay Pure Vitamin C12 Serum
>La Roche-Posay Retinol B3 serum
id get cheaper equivalents (but thats just me) though i know some people are willing to pay extra as they feel nice
>The Ordinary 100% Organic Cold-pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil
the oil at the end of pm routine is pretty good idea. i would switch it to some kind of mix of oils though than a single one (potentially more benefits) unless you dont tolerate some of them or you simply really like the one you use.
i used to get a cheap jojoba, macadamia, almond and raspberry seed oil with squalane (from a local company) but its not available anymore and been looking for something simialr
>Sheet Mask or Hydrating Mask (hydrating sheet mask or a cream mask)
id drop this, maybe slug with vaseline every now and then on exfoliating nights. i always thought hydrating/moisturizing masks are a scam selling a one-time use moisturizer but idk. up to you
>Facial Exfoliation with a glove(no retinoids this day and day after)
id drop this or replace with 30% aha peeling solution from the ordinary instead. again thats just me, i prefer chemical exfoliation. but if its too much and it works for you, leave it as is
>>18582946
alpha arbutin, retinoids, niacinamide, vitamin c serum, glycolic acid exfoliator and obviously sunscreen to prevent further damage
>>
>>18583100
>alpha arbutin, retinoids, niacinamide, vitamin c serum, glycolic acid exfoliator and obviously sunscreen to prevent further damage

Thanks anon, do you recommend any particular brands? I used to use vitamin C serums, but they irritated my skin.
>>
>>18583841
>vit c serum
geek&gorgeous or timeless
>retinoids
if you never tried any, cerave, olay24 or neutrogena were usually recommended. id go with cerave personally since it has niacinamide and other ingredients that helps
>alpha arbutin
the ordinary or whatever is available from your local market. just make sure its like 2% or something not 0,000000000000000000000000001%
>niacinamide
just make sure its in another product as an ingredient
>glycolic acid
the ordinary makes 7% and 30% concentration but i would look for something like 10-15% from different company if its your first one
>sunscreen
cerave am if you never had one, then try other ones

there is also this thing called faded cream which was shilled by doctorly on yt which is bretty gud and packs a few good actives. they also have a few vids on this topic
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j3yc9NMeGjk
i think dr dray also had vid on this so you can check what everyone is recommending and make an educated purchase

>I used to use vitamin C serums, but they irritated my skin.
maybe start with faded, a retinoid and a sunscreen in that case. give it 2 months of consistent use and see how it goes
>>
>>18584070
Thanks again. I've looked for Faded cream, but it's very expensive here. For now, I'll start with CeraVe's retinoid cream and an alpha arbutin serum. I'll wait and see how my skin responds before trying vitamin C, as it's quite sensitive. I've also heard about hydroquinone, which I saw mentioned in the video, but it's only available from pharmacies here.

I've used moisturisers and serums from various brands. I really liked the Clarins moisturiser, but right now I use Neutrogena moisturisers and sunscreen. Honestly, they work pretty well for me and are reasonably priced.

So I've been going through the OP and read this
>Do not use soap, made from "saponified" vegetable/animal fats. They are generally far too alkaline for your skin, and dries your skin out and irritates it.
>You should use a cleanser that is not soap, that is non-irritating and with a somewhat skin-neutral pH. Use a cleanser based on only synthetic detergents ("syndet"). Not all of these synthetic cleansers are good, but most of them are.

Does this apply only for the face? Or should I also replace my normal hand soap with it?
>>

Do you use them? Should I use them? Does normal body stuff work or is there something special for those areas?
>>
>>18586978
Depends really on what skin problems you are trying to address. I had discoloration and rough texture so I use drunk elephants glycolic acid toner.

It worked well to fix some of the discoloration and just make my body softer. I wouldn’t use my face products down there not because they won’t work but because of the packaging size.

Basically my routine for body:
Shower every day
Use AHA/BHA (SomeByMi AHA/BHA/PHA 30 days) wash along side Hibiscrub (I have hidradentis suppertiva so this helps against the outbreaks)

Scrub my body with that mix using a African net sponge (I rotate them out every third wash to and sanitize them on Saturdays)

Dry myself off with a clean towel and use my hairdryer (the og Dyson hairdryer) just so I am dry af.

Coat my body in a very thin layer of the drunk elephant stuff while I do my face routine.
>>
>>18586997
>Dry myself off with a clean towel and use my hairdryer (the og Dyson hairdryer) just so I am dry af.
Drying body with hairdryer? Damn, that's some next level skincare routine.
>>
When I clean my skin with a light cleanser, I get dry flaky skin. When I apply a light moisturizer, I get oily skin after about 30 minutes. I have tried less and I have tried using the cleanser once a day, once every 2 days and even less. What kind of skintype do I have? I struggle figuring this shit out.

Hey guys, consummately ignorant person here.

Is there some kind of non-shampoo hair care product that is designed explicitly to moisturize the scalp?
>>
>>18587708
Do you want to use it during a shower? If so look up “cowashes” they are sort of a mix of conditioner and shampoos but not having any cleaning agents. They certainly won’t strip your scalp.

If not you could use jojoba oil on the dry spots. I have a middle part and when I was on accutane my middle part scalp would get insanely dry so a few drops there moisturized my scalp
>>
>>18587708
I'm in a similar situation where I'm in sort of need of that but there doesn't seem to be any dedicated products that are easy to absorb in the scalp and don't build up in hair.
Here's two methods I found so far
1. Wash your head only with conditioner. It kinda worked for me at some point, there's some guide on a reddit called "the curly girl method". I had long curly hair, but I started balding so I had to cut my hair, and I started using Minoxidil which triggered sebhoreic dermatitis and now I'm forced to use shampoo regularly so that's out of the question now.
2. Apply MCT oil to scalp after shampooing. I actually started this some days ago so I can't vouch for it yet, we'll see.
If you find something else, post it in the thread, I'll appreciate.
>>
Anons, my skin is not getting smoother, I've been trying this chemical exfoliatior
>pic related
for about a week every night, in the hope that the small acne scars would smooth out, and they look unscathed. I've never applied an exfoliator before and the only results seem to be a dry skin when I wake up.

It might take time, I'll report back in another week or so. I consider "The Ordinary" as a good producer as I've fixed my dark circles when I used their eye serum, so to this other product I give the benefit of the doubt.

i am in process of finding out routine for my scalp as well though i have normal hair. basically i realized that anti dandruff shampoos (all 4 kinds i went through) caused dandruff for me (the irony) and the more i look into moisturizing my scalp the less dandruff i have. i had moisturizing shampoo from petal fresh which was pretty cool and gave good results but pretty sure i can find something better. currently i wash with conditioner every second wash. realized my hair simply needs this so it does not smell as bad the next day.
also i was on the lookout for non foaming shampoo (thought there is equivalent of non foaming face cleansers but for hair) but not sure if such thing exists
lastly i had a period where i added a few drops of oil serum i had which extended the lack of bad smell to 2 days without washing which was cool

my doctor's telling me i should get off tret and do 15% azelaic acid instead. issue is that he's not gonna prescribe anymore tret (i've got 1 tube left). the issue was redness and irritation after shaving. i'm thinking of getting adapalene or tret from that greek site (i forgot the name)
>>

Adapalene 0.1%/differin is not OTC in your country? Btw the greek boderm sells adapalene now, both 0.1% and 0.3%. Unfortunately both in cream form, not gels.

Not sure how expensive the shipping is to your country.

How do I, as a poorfag, dip my toes into korean skincare products without breaking the bank or letting the product go to waste. I've been on a barebones cerave-based routine for the past couple years and my skin is still shit. I still get acne, skin still dry, closed comedones, uneven texture, etc. I just use the cerave hydrating cleanser, the cerave tub, and some sunscreen but I don't feel like it's enough. I was on tret for a few months and I did enjoy it but I was too broke to renew my Rx.

Are there any websites that offer samples or smaller sizes of popular korean skincare products? I'm mainly interested in milky toners, hydrating cleansers, and sunscreens.

And what's your protocol for products that don't work for you? I've been too poor to venture out and try new stuff so I don't know what I'd do if I bought a massive bottle of toner and it made me breakout. I don't know anyone personally who is into skincare. Do I just facebook marketplace that shit? Do people really buy used skincare products?

1. Does cutting out sugar for just 1 week change your appearance noticeably? I'd use this if I want a boost on a specific day, then go back to eating what I want.
2. Do you just not eat desserts, or do you have to try hard and track the sugar content in everything you eat?
3. Does cutting back on sugar, but still eating desserts semi-regularly, over a period of time really help out your looks?

maybe check some educational materials about shaving (for example shave after shower or apply hot towel on shaving area before shaving etc) to ensure you are doing everything right first
20% is pretty strong and gives me irritation too so maybe try lower concentration or some other mild exfoliation (bha for example). urea creams could help too and there is pretty wide range of concentration (5%-70%). try some of these out and see how it goes. unfortunately skincare is trial and error

post routine. have you ever used retinoids? if not i would save up for retinol and see how it works. look for local companies (they are usually cheaper) or join some facebook groups for cheap recs in your area
>dip my toes into korean skincare products
>while being poor
just keep in mind they can be expensive.
>Are there any websites that offer samples or smaller sizes of popular korean skincare products?
its suprisingly quite often that there is smaller/travel size options but they are not particularly great in terms of $ per ml
>Do people really buy used skincare products?
well you can try looking for a used retinol but i would expect 2nd hand skincare to be traded on a dedicated facebook groups (like with perfumes). if not, perhaps make some skincare friends and exchange
>what's your protocol for products that don't work for you?
use on body, gift it, leave near trash bins for someone else to pick up

other than that review your diet in terms of slop/dairy intake. this is more important than anything above. there are certain parts of the world where being poor means you have to buy slop to survive which is really sad and unfortunate. also ensure your lifestyle/habits/environment/elements are not significantly affecting you like working in harsh conditions, smoking/drugs or stuff like hot showers (they dry you out), fresh pillow cover (or use old tshirts), allergy to laundry detergents. or perhaps your shower gel irritates you and you need something sls free or hard water etc. check archives for more tips

hope it helps

i did strip down my skincare routine some, stopped using the TO multi antioxidant serum, and the collagen mask coz it felt kinda gimmicky and i have noticed less irritation. also started using the paulas choice toner in the morning too and i think that helped + switching to my roomates biore watery essence sunscreen. tyyy for the advice <3

The pathways of these drugs are usually the same for humans but due to genetic and everyone having different lifestyle and diet, some will have different reaction to it. I just wrote some no shit stuff but that twitter dude wasnt wrong though a lot of these long form posters will try to shill brands, some brands are good, some bad gotta research further yourself. Before going on accutane, try looking for anti acne diet first, people usually add more zinc, vit c, vit a (accutane is derived from vit a),vit e, less dairy, if you need it, use a2 milk or goat milk, more fish for omega 3/6, and our highly processed diet will have omega-6 overloaded already, so you need to add more omega-3 high food to balance shit out . Youre already on twitter, you can look shit up.For diet stuff you can track food using myfitnesspal or cronometer.

>im actually kinda scared of rets ToT tried some olay retinol24 thingy a while back when i had even less of a clue as to what i was doing w my skin and it made me worse
purge is often times expected, some people experience it even with moisturizers or just new products in general
>any product recs?
id use up the olay one if you still have it. if not, cerave resurfacing retinol serum is pretty mild and good for acne (also contains niacinamide and licorice root). either that or adapalene which is a bit stronger. perhaps go for adapalene once you use up full bottle of retinol first
just remember to use it every few days at the beginning and work it up to every 2 days or every day if you tolerate it. first weeks of usage can be bad because its pulling the bad stuff out. retinoids purge is pretty well covered on the internet
>they wanted to put me straight on accutane :/ haven't started it yet, ive been trying to fix my skin on my own and keeping that as a last resort

Finally decided to try Korean skincare. Wish I did sooner. I wanted a new retinol product since the ones I keep buying irritate the hell out of my skin and make me break out like I'm 13 again.
I previously used
>neutrogena retinol
>RoC retinol
>Cerave retinol
All made me a dry mess, the breakout phase was never-ending, and made my face crazy red.
I am now using "By Wishtrend vitamin a-mazing bakuchiol night cream". It's greatly improved my skin without the flaking, redness, and acne. I've only been using since July too. My bumpy skin is now smooth, I have no redness. Wish I took before and after pics. It's much less expensive at least where I live compared to the western products. Only con is that is has a very chemical smell. Posting in case anyone had the same issue as I did with retinol products and want to try something new.

>>18589883

Adapalene 0.1% gel gives less redness, but creates more painful cystic acne on jaw, neck, and ear lobes. Also my cheek is rougher. Not sure if purging.

Tretinoin 0.025% gel I used to use gave good result until it doesn’t. It gave me scary redness at some point.

Tretinoin 0.05% gel smoothes the rough skin I got from adapalene. And is reducing my cystic acne also from adapalne. And my skin got brighter. But the general redness also came back. Not as severe as when I used 0.025%.

Aza 20% gel severely irritates certain parts of my face, like the left/right sides of my nose. But it seems to reduce deeper hyperpigmentation immediately. There is still general redness though.

Now what? FML lol. Adapalene is definitely doing something, but I really don’t want to deal with the cystic acnes. But I’m also afraid that my tret gels don’t actually dig out the deeper sebum plugs. Only small whiteheads or very mild acne, no stronger acnes like from adapalene.

I will try Tazarotene in a few months while trying to change my routine a bit.

27M, I tend to have more oily skin, and I don't really break out, maybe a small pimple every two or 3 weeks, but for the most part I'm blessed, no scarring and pretty healthy skin. I do have some slight dark circles under my eyes I'm trying to address. I'm thinking of upping my routine.

Right now, my routine is pretty simple

AM
Round Lab 1025 Dokdo Cleanser (In the shower)
Beauty of Josen Revive Eye Serum: Ginseng + Retinal
La Roche Posay Toleriane Double Repair Facial Moisturizer With SPF 30

PM
Wash my face with water

I'm pretty happy with the products I currently use, and after consulting with ChatGPT, it recommended I add an oil cleanser, a vitamin C serum, and a night cream. Told me to move my under-eye serum to the evening, and use a vitamin C serum in the morning.

My primary problem is that when I look up products, I can find 100 positive and 100 negative reviews for literally anything, plus 60/100 of the positive reviews will be sponsored. So I'm at the point where trial and error will be the only gauge.

ChatGPT recommended me Vitamin C 24 Surprise Serum by TIAM.

Also, I do get those routine tiny blackheads on my nose. Any way to address that?

at night

1 every 3 night : the ordinary sal acid
when no acid night : nia 10% from the ordinary too
finish with moisturizer in pic rel

I'm too autistic and suspîcious of spf so Id rather not, I always wear a cap anyway and there is no sun here

should I add something like vit c? I tried the loreal revitalift vit c orange mask, and I'm not gonna lie I could feel a difference on my skin, maybe it was just hydration? I would use the mask once, and the two following nights apply the rest of the serum I would squeeze from the mask

pray that you have good genes, build as much muscle as you can, avoid fasting and drastic weight loss methods. I went from ~110kg to sub 60kg and nothing really helped, still ended up with some loose skin.
remember that having some loose skin is MILES better than being fat, and if you can get even slightly leaner than the average (a particularly low standard), you'll still look really good.

I had the exact same problem as you. I went from having porcelain skin to having rough, dull, and acne-ridden skin in about a year-ish. I went to see a dermatologist, and they got me on tret, and I've been on it for about three months. The derm recommended me to see a doctor since my skin changed so starkly and suddenly. I'm getting back to my old skin, slowly but surely. I am eventually going to see a doctor to get my hormones checked.

This is probably right.

Any updated recommended products to start with since the pastebin is from 2016, or just go with Cerave/Cetaphil anyway?
>>
>>18610724
id go with cerave, cetaphil is shit these days, smells awful and texture got worse. they probably reformulated judging from the reviews.
or whatever cheap drugstore/pharmacy products from your local brands. germany has some great stuff in their pharmacies, cheap af too
>>
>>18610724
If you're in the US, Vanicream.
If in EU, one of the French pharmacy brands. Avene, Bioderma, LRP.
If in Asia, Korean or Japanese brands. Too many to mention. I like Pyunkang Yul and Illiyoon.
>>
Fucking finally emailed my doctor...
>>
any moisturizer recs for sensitive oily skin?
>>
>>18611839
Probably really minimal ingredients Avene or LRP. But they kept changing formulations. Kinda annoying.
>>
cba with tret. cba with anything more than spf and moisturizer
>>
>n-no it's not your skin barrier being disrupted causing you acne
Actually, it is.

You're a pseud if you disagree btw.
>>
>>18611839
look for something oil free and recommended for eczema.
you can also paste inci to incidecoder or chatgpt to see if it has something sus in there but i would rely on reviews.

But I still need to fix other problems. Like wrinkles on the right side, huge pores around nose and "post acne pits". Forehead and frown wrinkles, and of course the dark circles under the eyes.

Mewing

you should try bumping up from retinol to a proper retinoid like tretinoin or tazarotene. that should help out with pore size. i would drop the mandelic acid

i'd also drop the eye cream (doesn't really provide anything)

you may also want to try a cleansing oil instead of micellar water

for the acne scars and wrinkles there are lasers that can soften those, but age comes for us all.
you should see a dermatologist for a consultation on the best lasers to use for your issues and skin type. (assuming us this is probably covered by insurance)
fraxel is very typical for this

Sounds like addiction/dependence.

can you fix nasolabial folds with skincare? I am too young to have them

What can I use to help strengthen my nails? They are always breaking. Vitamins, topical, pastes, anything.
Does anyone have specific products or brands that help with nail strengthening/hardening?
>>
>>18615100
Biotin, you need to look up the co-factors as well, just put in chatgpt. Its similar to how you would supplement for your hair health.

stop being fat

Unlikely. The different people online saying it improves vs worsens vs does nothing.

>ugly face
You shut right the fuck up, faggot. It looks like a normal face. Stop using edited pictures on social media as a reference for what a face should look like.
>>
not my pic, but my face has visible pores like this
is this normal and im just retarded, or is there something i can do to reduce it
also, any retinol recs? i was using the cerave retinol serum but found it didn't do much, got recommended the ordinary retinol but heard ordinary is kind of a meme
>>
>>18616642
normal, some people have larger pores. they can still be reduced in size.
instead of a retinol you should get a prescription for tretinoin or tazarotene.
for sunscreen look for something matte, like CeraVe Ultra-Light Moisturizing Lotion SPF30
there's also laser procedures that can reduce them - see you dermatologist.

if I work a messy kitchen job getting my face covered in grease and oil (smashing hamburger patties) but naturally have dryish skin, would you suggest cleaning my face with a cleanser and everything more frequently (twice a day?) or just rinsing the work gunk off and sticking to a daily/every second day schedule?
noticing a decline in skin quality recently and thinking of actually taking care of my skin properly for the first time in my life
>>
I think one of the Cerave Foaming Cleanser or PM Lotion I bought this week is breaking me out :// I'll give it some more time to see if it gets worse, but oh well. What could even be the problem here?
>>
>>18616998
I mean, cerave is known to break people out. At least, the internet says so. Also in my experience. Got a bunch of whiteheads after 1 usage lol.
>>
Any reccs for textured skin on face? I also think i have strawberry nose...is that the term?? Recently got my long hair routine down, now wanting to focus on skincare
>>
what can i do about acne scarring?
i'm finally acne free after several months of accutane but i hate how my face look
man am i gonna have to keep my hair long for the rest of my life just to hide the scarring a bit?
>>
>>18617232
Tret. May worsen things though. Have some courage and take chances.
>>
>>18617630
Ask the derm that prescribed your accutane? I've been fighting acne for decades. So I've been in many forums and subreddits. And honestly I still haven't seen truly impressive acne scar repair result. People blame the doctor or practitioner, but people on acne.org kept going to the meme doctors in other countries, and got meh results.

Need help by tomorrow please.

Ordered high molecular weight HA supply from owndoc (derminator 2 supplier) but due to holidays this is likely not coming until January. I need a proper substitute HA with at least 1.5m daltons in the next few days.

What are some prominent examples I can easily get from Amazon or nearby drug stores?
