The more resinous characters of vetiver and myrrh comes out in the drydown of Fat Electrician, so it remains sort of sweet but it's a different, somewhat candy-like type of sweetness, with the green side still very much there.Good frag.

How do we feel about Caswell-Massey? OAIRE is a really nice pepper/patchouli/cedarwood frag that smells godly, especially in cooler weather. They also make Number Six, which was worn by George Washington. So that's pretty neat.

>>18591038It's one of their best, maybe it will get even more popular than the classic boss bottled which is still massive in Europe. I did notice something funky or off about the leather note in the opening after not using it for the last 6 months or so since it was too hot
Perhaps getting Egoiste from 1994 soon. He described it as 1993 but it's the second version launched in 1994. I guess that's not much worse is it?
>>18591147waste of money desu, the current Egoiste batches are also fine
>>18591074I like it, but it's very similar to Shalimar. the Extreme version is a much more typical modern fragrance, not as fun but more people seem to buy it

>>18591315As long as they’re jus samples there’s nothing wrong with any of those. Indigo Smoke is a pleasant tea scent, but short lived like most tea frags. Tam Dao is one of if not the best sandalwood replica fragrances, just a very solid woody scent. LADDM is a good oriental style fragrance, it has lost some of its former glory due to reformulations but is still a good, serviceable scent and example. Unfortunately it has also become considerably more expensive in recent times which further degrades its value. Encre Noire is going to be closer to >>18591243 or >>18591270 don’t believe the people that wax poetic like >>18591244 it’s not remotely that pleasant, but it’s still a reasonable learning tool regarding vetiver in general, and more specifically the nigh ubiquitous material Iso-E Super and vetiveryl acetate simply because full bottles are dirt cheap. Lonestar Memories is a quality leather scent but somewhat different than most due to how soft and almost even plush it is. Leather scents can be quite varied so do not consider it a singular proof of concept regarding leathers if you do or do not like it. Unfortunately like LADDM Tauer’s stuff has gone up in price, offsetting the value of the fragrance somewhat.

>>18591447It has a decent sillage, I use it on hot days, mid-drydown kinda smells like the yellow flower used in Catholic churches, but still green in characteristic
>>18590863I've been trying frags recommended online. It was a quick and hard redpill that no red blooded white heterosexual males will talk about perfumes at all. >>18591477That's your own fault for not doing research on what you are buying. A lot of fragrances marketed to men today are sweet slop. That is the trend. You need to try fragrances that feminine men wouldn't be caught dead wearing like aromatic fougeres.

>>18591325>LADDM>reformulationsNot true, Tauer mentioned he has never reformulated anything other than Le Maroc Pour Elle due to changes in the allowed limit of jasmine absolute. I wish I could find some of it before he had to remove some of the jasmine, it's great but I feel it's kind of lacking.
>>18591343>the difference in longevity between legit colognes and cheap stuff is night and dayTrue, cheap stuff like Yatch Mood will last forever because they overdose cheap smelling aromachemicals like vanillin and mainstream consumers lap it up. The stuff that actually smells good uses very little of the aromachemicals that make perfumes last forever, so you can enjoy the high quality ingredients even if it does cost more.
>>18591529Everything will disappoint you after BI because it's cheap and last an insanely long time. Buying samples is a waste of money, money you could be spending on an actual fragrance. It only makes sense if you have no idea what you like. If you already wore BI you can determine what you like. Do you want to try something mass appealing, sweet, woody, floral, fresh, etc.? Make an effort to go to an actual store, take your time and try something on your skin.TLDR: Get a $30 bottle of Bentley for Men Absolute on ebay and tell me what you think.

>>18591850I’ve always regarded perfumery, at least on the clientele side of things as something you must be induced into. The product itself is omnipresent, and it is because of this exact reason that most people will only ever get acquainted with the most popular fragrances, unless of course they come into contact with someone who has already been induced, at which point their own induction begins. Then again, I talk with much reverence about something that is the manifestation of cosmopolitan consumerism so it’s all a big nothingburger in the end

My order of White Musk Attar just arrived. Honestly, I didn't expect how warm it smells. I get clean musk with a background white lily, iris, heliotropes and a very small amount of vanilla. It sits very close to skin, but the sillage is good. It feels like wearing a silk pajama in a cold cozy night. Good for minimal scent people. It came along with a sample of Viktor and Rolf Spicebomb Extreme — this one reminds me of Grand Soir dry down. It's boozy, sweet, with a bit of animalicness from cumin. >>18592452What's Rien like vs. RII? I want to order another sample pack from them, if Afternoon of a Faun ever comes back in stock.
>>18592452you misspelled aventus
>>18592459I can tell you tomorrow cause I already know RII and Rien sample is in transportApparently they are quite similar and RII was mid, never craved a full bottle
>>18592459Rien II is the same exact scent with more smoky incense.
>>18590863I finally copped Prada l’homme, shit is gonna go CRAZY with some pastels and linen this spring
>>18592459Rien II is like Rien but stronger and with more incense. ELDO doesn't sell samples of The Afternoon of a Faun.

>>18592504not really, all of them are quite similar powdery and/or soapy. you can tell the difference between them but none of them is a separate frag
>>18592341The US does have nice discontinued stuff but it isn't cheap because boomers need to fund their lavish lifestyles with the old junk they never use. Japan actually has some of the best and cheapest discontinued fragrances so if that's close you can try that. I hear Italy has great hole-in-the-wall shops filled with vintage perfumes but it might not be cheap because they are in no rush to sell.
>>18592541I'm Portuguese and I went to an open market where people sell old stuff to see if I could snag something nice. I only found an old dude selling obvious fakes for 5 euros a pop and a few old women selling random slop, pretty sure one of them was a gypsy too. Living in a third world country sucks
this thread is a bunch of contrarian shut-ins and indians suggesting bottom shelf drug store slop and it's gotten old.

>>18592504The original Infusion d'Homme has Somalian frankincense but it doesn't smell smoky or incensy, it just ads a slightly balsamic base.

I am relatively certain that a large portion of posts made on this imageboard stem from the same pen, that being the Indian individual who thus far has shown himself overly concerned with posting what I assume to be prostitutes engaged in their work. Regarding the supposed staleness of the imageboard I can unfortunately only concur, as it appears that the discussion has shifted, now having two different chat rooms as their main exponents. In my eyes, it’s very sad, especially since my first experiences in here were all things considered very pleasant

>love the ambery incensy top notes>love the intense woody middle notes>hate the drydownI can't pick up the medicinal notes reviews mention. Smells like burnt leather after an hour or so. Glad I got this for FREE. And I hope the note combo exists in a different frag, but with different base notes.

>>18592630I like this one, though it is a little too strong. How did you get it for free? The medicinal notes I think are the leather. Some leather notes can smell like antiseptic or bandages to some people. If you want something similar I would check out CDG Incense Kyoto or Aesop Hwyl.
>>18592679Got it as a "gift" from a friend who is way more impulsive than me lol.>If you want something similar I would check out CDG Incense Kyoto or Aesop HwylDamn I forgot about Hwyl. I need to try that again. I have Avignon and as much as I like it it's a little too airy for me. I'm guessing Kyoto has about the same performance and longevity.I think TF Ebene Fume is very close to what I'm looking for, but without the TF price tag.
>>18592679>Some leather notes can smell like antiseptic or bandages to some people. That might be me.
SOTD: Drakkar Noir 20 sprays
Can "unisex" category be avoided entirely as a man? They smell like it's the women (+lgbt) category rather than woman + man. Almost every time they smell effeminate
>>18592768Fragrance itself is feminine so it's natural that unisex leans towards feminine more

>>18592646L'Ombre Dans L'Eau is a masterpiece THOUGH
>>18592768No, since "men's" fragrances today are equally mislabelled women's fragrances. It's false advertising since most of them are just women's fragrances they want men to buy. There are companies who just completely got rid of properly labeling their fragrances and call everything unisex. Unfortunately there are fragrances that are legitimately unisex, which doesn't mean "woman + men", it means neutral. Most of the commonly used natural scents, bergamot, patchouli, sandalwood, jasmine, lavender, etc. are neutral and only when mixed with other ingredients do they become gendered. I wear some unisex perfumes and even feminine perfumes, but anything made after 2007 is going to be improperly labelled if it says "unisex" or "mens". You have to go on a case by case basis since companies just gave up on proper labelling to appeal to the lowest common denominator of "I can't wear it unless the company says I'm allowed to wear it." It would be ideal if they just did proper labelling and showed their little celebrities of the opposite gender wearing it but the reality is that those always flop so they just call women's perfumes "men's" and "unisex" to fit the current tastes trends.tldr: most "unisex" and "men's" fragrances have been mislabeled since 2007, just go by who actually buys and owns the perfume and what you want to wear

>>18592462okay just sprayed my rien decantit's milder than RII, less smoky and it doesn't have that clash between soapy aldehydes and incense, but I feel something like a molecular leather (I think leather in the intense was a bit more real). Overall Rien appeals to me more, not sure if it's enough for me to say I like it
>>18593171>Clearly not for me.where are you from, what is the weather today? unironically it's a frag for sunny spring/summer days and only the days you feel like a boss if you will, doesn't work when you stayed all night, are tired, sad etc

SOTD: Prada L’HommeWore it to class today, made two women sit really close to me and get really chatty. Honestly it smells like a high quality version of what I remember Axe Essence from the 2000s to be.Also get a hint of Montblanc Individuel and Sung Homme. floral(neroli, iris, violet) soap. Very purple. Swanky bathroom in a luxe Miami Beach art deco condo. This shits so good!!! Like i said it will go crazy with some linen and pastels. Not getting the full effect wearing autumn flannels and such.
>>18590863Local store has been stocking up on Arab clones for $20-$30. Grabbed a lattafa tobacco a few weeks ago when it started getting cooler outside. It's very similar to the Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille sample I got. Yesterday I grabbed a boss bottle, and an Armaf club de nuit intense man. I like the boss, it's not as flooring as the absolut. My buddy grabbed an Asad and Kaffra(sp?). The lattafa kaffra smells like the boss absolut but with a plum sweetness, and when it matures it smells more like the absolut and the sweetness fades slightly
