The more resinous characters of vetiver and myrrh comes out in the drydown of Fat Electrician, so it remains sort of sweet but it's a different, somewhat candy-like type of sweetness, with the green side still very much there.

As long as they’re jus samples there’s nothing wrong with any of those.

Indigo Smoke is a pleasant tea scent, but short lived like most tea frags.
Tam Dao is one of if not the best sandalwood replica fragrances, just a very solid woody scent.
LADDM is a good oriental style fragrance, it has lost some of its former glory due to reformulations but is still a good, serviceable scent and example. Unfortunately it has also become considerably more expensive in recent times which further degrades its value.
Encre Noire is going to be closer to >>18591243 or >>18591270 don’t believe the people that wax poetic like >>18591244 it’s not remotely that pleasant, but it’s still a reasonable learning tool regarding vetiver in general, and more specifically the nigh ubiquitous material Iso-E Super and vetiveryl acetate simply because full bottles are dirt cheap.
Lonestar Memories is a quality leather scent but somewhat different than most due to how soft and almost even plush it is. Leather scents can be quite varied so do not consider it a singular proof of concept regarding leathers if you do or do not like it. Unfortunately like LADDM Tauer’s stuff has gone up in price, offsetting the value of the fragrance somewhat.

>reformulations
Not true, Tauer mentioned he has never reformulated anything other than Le Maroc Pour Elle due to changes in the allowed limit of jasmine absolute. I wish I could find some of it before he had to remove some of the jasmine, it's great but I feel it's kind of lacking.
>>
>>18591343
>the difference in longevity between legit colognes and cheap stuff is night and day
True, cheap stuff like Yatch Mood will last forever because they overdose cheap smelling aromachemicals like vanillin and mainstream consumers lap it up. The stuff that actually smells good uses very little of the aromachemicals that make perfumes last forever, so you can enjoy the high quality ingredients even if it does cost more.
>>
>>18591529
Everything will disappoint you after BI because it's cheap and last an insanely long time. Buying samples is a waste of money, money you could be spending on an actual fragrance. It only makes sense if you have no idea what you like. If you already wore BI you can determine what you like. Do you want to try something mass appealing, sweet, woody, floral, fresh, etc.? Make an effort to go to an actual store, take your time and try something on your skin.

TLDR: Get a $30 bottle of Bentley for Men Absolute on ebay and tell me what you think.

The best selling frags aren't the super sweet gourmands that smell like cherry or vanilla or honey or whatever. It's usually freshies and blue frags, I wouldn't say they aren't masculine. I’ve always regarded perfumery, at least on the clientele side of things as something you must be induced into. The product itself is omnipresent, and it is because of this exact reason that most people will only ever get acquainted with the most popular fragrances, unless of course they come into contact with someone who has already been induced, at which point their own induction begins. Then again, I talk with much reverence about something that is the manifestation of cosmopolitan consumerism so it’s all a big nothingburger in the end

Ironically, that one smells very similar to the sweet synthetic slop all the zoomers are wearing now.
>>

I can't speak on newer bottles but vintage bottles of Body Kouros from the early 2000s are not synthetic at all. That's probably your unrefined taste filtering you from understanding the complexity of an incense fragrance.

Sprayed most of the vintage stuff.

If you want to attract women, buy the newer fragrances. Wear the vintage stuff for yourself sparingly.

The best vintage imo:
OG kouros
OG paco rabanne pour Homme
Antaeus

Everything else is probably not worth owning.

Best modern'ish:
Creed Aventus (older batches)
Oud Wood

Most fragrances overstay their welcome.

I will be sampling these soon:

Aventus absolu
Elysium Eau intense
Light blue intense
Wulon Cha + X
Royal Oud
Aventus Cologne

My order of White Musk Attar just arrived. Honestly, I didn't expect how warm it smells. I get clean musk with a background white lily, iris, heliotropes and a very small amount of vanilla. It sits very close to skin, but the sillage is good. It feels like wearing a silk pajama in a cold cozy night. Good for minimal scent people.

It came along with a sample of Viktor and Rolf Spicebomb Extreme — this one reminds me of Grand Soir dry down. It's boozy, sweet, with a bit of animalicness from cumin. The cumin isn't that overpowering, it reminds me of an oriental restaurant with cozy lighting.

The US does have nice discontinued stuff but it isn't cheap because boomers need to fund their lavish lifestyles with the old junk they never use. No, since "men's" fragrances today are equally mislabelled women's fragrances. It's false advertising since most of them are just women's fragrances they want men to buy. There are companies who just completely got rid of properly labeling their fragrances and call everything unisex. Unfortunately there are fragrances that are legitimately unisex, which doesn't mean "woman + men", it means neutral. Most of the commonly used natural scents, bergamot, patchouli, sandalwood, jasmine, lavender, etc. are neutral and only when mixed with other ingredients do they become gendered. I wear some unisex perfumes and even feminine perfumes, but anything made after 2007 is going to be improperly labelled if it says "unisex" or "mens". You have to go on a case by case basis since companies just gave up on proper labelling to appeal to the lowest common denominator of "I can't wear it unless the company says I'm allowed to wear it." It would be ideal if they just did proper labelling and showed their little celebrities of the opposite gender wearing it but the reality is that those always flop so they just call women's perfumes "men's" and "unisex" to fit the current tastes trends.

tldr: most "unisex" and "men's" fragrances have been mislabeled since 2007, just go by who actually buys and owns the perfume and what you want to wear

Haven’t tried Absinthe but Viride is certainly “green” and a touch earthy. Ymmv

SOTD: Prada L’Homme

Wore it to class today, made two women sit really close to me and get really chatty. Honestly it smells like a high quality version of what I remember Axe Essence from the 2000s to be.Also get a hint of Montblanc Individuel and Sung Homme. floral(neroli, iris, violet) soap. Very purple. Swanky bathroom in a luxe Miami Beach art deco condo. This shits so good!!! Like i said it will go crazy with some linen and pastels. Not getting the full effect wearing autumn flannels and such.

Local store has been stocking up on Arab clones for $20-$30. Grabbed a lattafa tobacco a few weeks ago when it started getting cooler outside. It's very similar to the Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille sample I got. Yesterday I grabbed a boss bottle, and an Armaf club de nuit intense man. I like the boss, it's not as flooring as the absolut. My buddy grabbed an Asad and Kaffra(sp?). The lattafa kaffra smells like the boss absolut but with a plum sweetness, and when it matures it smells more like the absolut and the sweetness fades slightly

Yeah I've been sold on versace eros and flame. Very subtle. I wasn't impressed with the aqua di gio sample I got(the highly recommended ones were sold out). I'd like to find something like Asad for summer.

I'm looking to sample the coffee one, or to find a scent with that "baked bread" note

I just blind buy since I find samples to be poor representations of the actual bottle. Also the longer I test the less decisive I become.
>>
>>18593434
I think most people prefer aqua di gio profondo (not sure if EDT or EDP are more popular but they are very similar) or the elixir one
>>
>>18593455
I smelled the Asad and it's apparently a decent clone of the elixir. The profondo was out of stock when I got my samples

Did you personally make this meme? Loewe 7, the original is the milf magnet, not Loewe 7 cobalt, which is more or less a fairly generic blue frag

oriental fougère, so right up my alley.
blind-bought for a price I could not resist so I can't describe it further yet.

>>18593760
your point being?
I'm looking for good and interesting scents, not necessarily modern scents and definitely not generic gourmand panty dropper 9001, and based on the descriptions it is at least interesting enough.
