>>18605287Bro, I knew I didn't hallucinate that commercial.
In the year 2000, Daft Punk released the single "One More Time" from their second album, Discovery. Released on November 13, 2000, it was the first single from the album and became a major global club hit. >>18605298All made without AI too btw
>>18605299Mods thats fashion related its giving an idea of what people were into in popular culture.
When the future was fun instead of gay and brown
>>18605313Atleast we have good phones now.
Any suggestions for a basketball sneaker that isnt jordan 9 or foamposite?
Androgyny and terrible diet ideas were rife.
Puffer… Skirts? The time where metallic puffer coats come from. Boy bands started wearing white in music videos too in the y2k era
Oakley's most recent major celebrity hiring is artist and designer Travis Scott, who was appointed as the brand's first-ever Chief Visionary in June 2025. Im interested in this because thry didnt make many circle lenses that looked good to me. If he creates something quite nice i may cop.>>18605329 is the sub zero which is what i like but i think it could be a bit more creative.>>18605342This is winona ryder in 1998 btw. She was starring in alien iv.
>>18605355Objects turned blobby. they called it blobject-ification everything had to be silver and look like a puddles of silver.
>>18605375> they called it blobject-ification No they didn't
>>18605387The Term "Blobject"While "blobjectification" is not slang, the term "blobject" is an actual term used in design and art history, which ties into the Y2K aesthetic. Definition of Blobject: A "blobject" is a design product, often a household object, distinguished by smooth, flowing, organic, and often brightly colored or translucent shapes. Think of the translucent, colorful iMac G3 computers or certain types of furniture and accessories from that era.Y2K Aesthetic Connection: The Y2K aesthetic is known for its retrofuturistic style, which includes the use of metallic materials, reflective clothing, and these characteristic smooth-edged "blobjects".From google ai above. It was a known design choice used by artists and designers. I cant be bothered to find a magazine article explaining the design concept but it would be out there.
Before Y2K latex clothing was mainly used mainly in old fetish circles. Then during the Y2K period they were worn in music videos by celebrities like Britney Spears and cropped latex tops could be worn as a casual going-out outfit.
>>18605389Its called biomorphecism little AI slop zoomy
>>18605414Lol
>>18605414Isnt that what they used in the design of the alien eggs in the alien franchise tho. More of a design choice of organic nature.
>>18605292ali express. When I was a young teenager Oakley came out with them but I couldn't afford them. This summer I got ali express knock off ones, they look like the guys in OPs picrel.
>>18605324back in the day people were going crazy for that phone. The original moto razr thing was cool too. >>18605334Nike sport watches were also a desired item, kids in the playground thought these were the coolest shit. >>18605420shox (sic) will always be based.
>>18605342she was a sex symbol for a little bit. The times were the times back then.
>>18605435Those are actually the nike tn V they went really out there for that model. The sole does look very similar but its the air bag.

The belt buckles lol not a lot of these around anymore. Didnt even know it was y2k i thought everyone just liked belts.
>>18606400I think im way too round faced for these actually. They got these called the fuel cell that look like theyd suit most people.
>>18605441man, hacking used to be cool.
The windcheater suit was still a hit in y2k but they stopped making them colourful. Works better. nike made grey the airmax brand staple.
>>18606400Way too big imo.Nice thread OP, Y2K and cyberpunk is so much cooler than that Acronym techwear shit.
>>18605277there is a "beauty through repulsion" design ethos between 1999 and 2005 that i hate that i love.
>>18605416god i love this era of graphic design(especially in magazines)
>>18607686Thanks man, ive lurked for a long time. Might be doing this more in the future. Thanks to all who contributed so far.
Back street boys. Into the millennium concert.
>>18605435>The original moto razr thing was cool tooThe original Razr was THE phone to have, it had hype levels not too dissimilar from the debut iPhone. The Y2K era was cool to me since I was young enough to find all that shit really amazing. It felt like the future, even though now everything looks tacky, but at least it was pretty unique. Tech was also still exciting and designed to actually help you instead of just serve you ads or spy on you.

Finding it hard to find mens fits tbqh.
>>18608316https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=13EifDb4GYsThis was also inescapable. It felt to me like the quintessential new millennium song.
>>18608406Very meditative, ive given it many listens. I discovered it in the 2010’s though.More on the fashion topic it seems as tho if you look on the aesthetics wiki there is a new aesthetic that is the new successor to y2k futurism called “cybercore”. Mainly being used on the platforms tiktok and pinterest, that was coined in 2020.Feel free anyone to include that in my thread.
>>18608442>I discovered it in the 2010’s thoughIt was everywhere back then, especially in commercials and TV shows. I read not long ago that Moby did it on purpose for fun and tried to have every song on the album get licensed in at least one commercial each.Something I missed and didn't realize was ultra Y2K was stuff that was clear. I had a clear GameBoy, a clear N64 controller and even some CD player that was clear. Then all that kind of thing just vanished.
Oh and that reminds me, I always looked at this as being a very Y2K aesthetic car. I still see a few around sometimes but they're getting extremely rare.
>>18608480I just copped the triple back nike plus tn vii for 40% off from end. >>18608482Youll be happy to know i think that smart now makes these “forfours” and they are very much still a y2k looking car.
>>18608482>>18608496they need to lower these and put in some 21 inch rims. Add a big ass spoiler, and a front lip.
>>18605324What you consider "phones" are just tablets. I still have a phone. You don't.
>>18605342There's androgyny every single decade though.
>>18608649>a car thats bigger than an older small car is no longer a carOkay
Globe ctiv
>>18608668It's not about size, it's about functionality. You're suggesting the phones of 2000 were lacking somehow. Quite the contrary. They were suited for doing call stuff exclusively. Everything about the calling is superior. And just before your precious smartphones were released they had FINALLY gotten there with the physical keyboards for texting. I actually gave up my Razr for a slideout keyboard when it became apparent that texting wasn't going away. Don't tell me you prefer a small haptic keyboard at the bottom of your vertical display, because I know that isn't true. You're probably not even old enough to clearly remember adults using non-smartphones, let alone have used one yourself. Otherwise you'd concur that what I still drive is a car and you ride in a silly cybertruck that displays ads and runs off the road.
This had that futuristic feel at the time. Mine still works and I still use it.
>>18608721>You're probably not even old enough to clearly remember adults using non-smartphones, let alone have used one yourself.I was there for it and had a chunky brick Nokia myself in the late 90s, back when every phone also had a proprietary barrel charger. And I mean really chunky, not those small ones, this was some big ass thing with a little antenna nub on the top and a battery that was about the same size as a FireStick remote.>Otherwise you'd concur that what I still drive is a car and you ride in a silly cybertruck that displays ads and runs off the road. And yet I don't concur. Cybertrucks and EVs are over the top, but they're not representative of every car. There are varying degrees of cars and phones in what useful or useless features they have.
Thing's like an old tube TV. Only I can't seem to update its maps. If I go somewhere that's on a street that didn't exist in 2005, it goes all haywire and thinks I'm lost. I need to find a solution to this. And I refuse to Upgrayedd to some newer flat screen model.
I get annoyed when people think Y2K is 2000s pink meangirls bimbo aesthetic and don't know y2k is actually 1997-2002 futurism
The unmined tashion goldmine that is uranium glass glossed belts so they glow under blacklights and in the dark. Now this had been used in 20th century oddity western fashion before cold war but this has never been used in y2k futurism.
>>18608766That music video was WAY ahead of its time in terms of format.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZGo4WebNIjM

>>18609204This reads more zoomer kpop than y2k. The makeup is all wrong and the clothes look like temu.
>>18609216Nta, that looks to me like a cybercore stage outfit. Stuff like pic attached is cybercore but also edgy teen looks too, doesnt seem like a well defined aesthetic according to search algorithm.
>>18609216Tons of this stuff isn't 2000 era. I'm seeing smartphones and smartwatches in these lame photos.
>>18607686>acronym
>>18605467what movie or TV show is this? It's insane that you can identify an era by the phenotype the featured in media.
>>18609637>I'm seeing smartphones and smartwatches in these lame photos. No, you're not. You just saw the one guy in >>18608693 and lied about seeing ''tons'' of smart devices.
A.I. Artificial intelligence (2001) set piece
Cyberdog, and boohooman sell some stuff. The new brands i know nothing about.
If you wanted to try a few outfits in this y2k cyber stuff looks like you have to thrift for the authentic style.
>>186052772k5 is better
>>18605450I miss when women looked like this
>>18608245This pic brings me back. The youth dont know.
>>18608406I still have this on my Playlist in 2025 lol
>>18608480Remember the clear imacs?
>>18608762Ma$e record deal so bad he stopped recording for 10 years to get out of it kek
>>18611115Kek yeah, the art class at my school had a row of those big clear ones that we'd use. It was a lot of kids first experience with anything Apple (since the iPhone didn't even exist yet) and the mouse with only one button was some alien shit to us.
OP here, what do you think guys is this broad style of cyber something you would try out? Im tempted but in a bit a y2k pop music way with some raving culture influence.
>>18611212Bro, I swear I saw a news story when these were new about a guy who was buried with one along with a bunch of other shit representing "the best of humanity" or some shit at the time.
>>18611592Read William Gibson's Blue Ant trilogy and then rethink these life choices.
>>18611600Im more of an articles and news reader. But alright ill give it a shot.
>>18611122>>18611136These are zoomer tribals
>>18612260Yes, i decided half way through the thread to include the “cybercore” stuff including those cyber sigilism tattoos. I was learning about it as i was going.
>>18612266Forgot to crop that one. Here it is cropped
Letting thread die. I got the fucking flu. I might try another bread in a week.
>>18609896Earth: Final Conflict
I have been thinking about these glasses
>>18605334Can I still buy these anywhere? I would even buy a Aliexpress knockoff if there was any available. I love the design.
