I don't think there's ever been a /shave/ general in here, am I wrong? I find this suprising considering how much people here obviously love buying gear, and there's loads in the shaving world among safety razors, straight edge, blades, soaps, care products, etc etc.
I'm so tired of shaving. Every 1, 2, 3 days of our lives we have to do this ritualistic practice of cutting hair off our face but I will not look like a sloppy beard user. Someone make this easier.
I love the Speick shaving range.
>>18608077>shaving range
Mach3 and whatever foam/gel that's on sale.
>>18608050Take the home laser pill
>>18608050Just trim it to a stubble every Sunday or something. No need to slash your face up every couple of days with a razor blade like a masochistic psychopath.
>>18608050isn't that what electric shavers are for? quick and easy in the morning
>>18608050I assume you shave with either the usual gillete mach3 razor or an electric trimmer? I was like you, had an electric trimmer and would hate shaving even though I would only do it once per week. Sometimes I would skip a whole week. And bear in mind that it would only take me 10mins or less so it wasn't even time consuming and I still hated it.Then I bought a DE safety razor and I went from hating shaving to absolutely craving it every single day; I can't explain why because I spend more money and more time than I ever did with the electric trimmer. But fuck, it just feels fucking good.
If you shave in the shower you don't even need shaving cream.
>>18608050You people over complicate everything. Do it every morning after a shower and use some moisturizer and its painless. You get good at it and it takes like 5 minutes because you just have slight stubble.
>>18608022>Hot water in the shower>Henson>Feather I don't need more
>>18608050Generations did it daily without complaining. Stop being a bitch.
>>18608050Sometimes I used to wonder about laser hair removal for facial hair, but I also wonder if that has some some weird side effect. Shaving daily is just pissing me off at this point and the hair is insanely thick.
this with astra blades
>>18608022I usually just use shaving cream and safety razor after a shower, is there anything else I should be doing? Is preshave, aftershave, ect worth it?
>>18608361It just depends; do you get ingrown hairs from shaving? irritation/razor burn? You can take this as far as you want if you look at it as pampering.
>>18608050use an electric trimmer to get it short and do one (1) pass with your razor simple as
Let me guess, you -need- more?
>>18608391I'd be very surprised if I could shave the hairs of my arm with that thing.
>>18608022I use a cheapo buzzer for my weekly touch up. I will use a safety razor if I need a close shave for some occasion.
>>18608077That semogue is a boar brush right? I've read that a good boar brush can become just as soft as a good badger brush, is that true? how long did it take you to get it to that point?
>>18608398You'd be very surprised.
>>18608102These basically leave you with five o clock shadow. They've never been a viable alternative.
Shaving is awful, there's not a single good thing about it except for not having the hair on your face.
>>18608513shaving exfoliates your face without having to use weird chemicals
>>18608099can i use that on my balls?
>>18608102in my experience, they work if you use them diligently every day however miss a day and suddenly you have a worthless device
>>18608022imagine shaving, lol
>>18608533Yes, it's only effective if you have good contrast between your skin tone and your hair color.
>>18608361Alum block works for me. Soothes my skin.
>>18608391based
>>18608099facial hair is too deep for this.
>>18608506The stubble is less noticeable if your facial hair matches your skin tone.
I use the fake aliexpress Futura. It's really nice. I just wish they sold the whole set like you see in the picture

>Saving money with DE, SE, AC, or SR shaving.Man have you tried the soaps and aftershaves. All that savings goes out the window once you start chasing frag's and comfort from those 2 items. The razors and blades can be even worse for some since there is an entire cottage industry around machinists making razors. 640 ish EUR. And the only blade for this is the Personna GEM Single Edge. Speaking of DE blades the Personna Diamond GEM is fantastic. I can get 22ish shaves from a single blade. Pic related about 16ish USD
>>18612704Vestige razorhttps://atelierdurdan.com/en/products/rasoir-vestige
>>18608391anon kinda based tho
I don't mind shaving too much but if there was a convenient drug to stop facial hair from growing that'd be nice. It's so annoying having to shave my face everyday to avoid growing a neckbeard.
been shaving with merkur 41c for 8 years, but it was pissing me off recently, cause the handle is too short and it's quite difficult to shave everything around the mouth and chin, so I bought muhle r41, what am I in for? can't be that le aggressive as they say
>>18608644never used alum, do you use anything AS/balm after? doesn't the alum dry out your skin in the long run? how does the skin feel after it?
>>18613798I found the Muhle Rocca to be more aggressive. The R41 is a meme compared to when it came out since it was the only aggressive razor at the time. You will get nice comfortable shaves with a R41 provided that you don't try to shave in 30 seconds.
I have a Leaf and I use Astra blades + whatever cream was on sale last month. Took a little getting used to the technique but I got my shaving time down to about 15-18 minutes for both my head and face with no cuts or nicks. Not 100% BBS but damn near close enough. Works decently well on bodyhair too as long as you don't let it grow too long.
>>18613887Great razor to recommend for women who want a leg shave. You can buy dedicated half blades for them also. Perma sharp is a great recommendation if you do so.
why do people on leddit say that you're not supposed to go more than once over 1 area with a DE and to never go against the grain? personally i use a rockwell 6s and I do either go twice or go against the grain in different areas...
>>18608391I use disposable razors too
>>18614035They are retarded pussies anon. Besides if you clean your face or shower before shaving you can get away with as many passes as you want to. I personally do 5 passes 2 WTG, 2 ATG, 1 XTG. Zero irritation, zero weepers all due to a liberal application of soap.
>>18614038do you apply soap in between each pass?
>>18614039Yes but soap is cheap so i whip up quite a bit before shaving to have enough for 5 passes. I even have enough extra to put on my head before i take a shower.
>>18614040interesting I usually do 2 or maybe 3 passes (soap applications), but I'm kinda going over the same area a couple times in short succession i often find even in a single pass
>>18614042Well everyone shaves differently. On the off chance i use a cartridge i do ATG and XTG now. But with lot more usage of soap i can get away with multiple passes on cartridges when normally i could never do more than 2 passes. Not to mention washing your face with water or cleanser product used to remove makeup has also helped out since you're removing grease that disrupts soap bubbles. I am also using a brush and dedicated shaving soap but you can get away with a brush and Dove soap to get some of the same results so long as you get it dense enough.
How do I get rid of my nose hair? I heard plucking is dangerous.
>>18608102ive tried 3 different kinds of electric razors and none of them work. thick curly hair is the kryptonite of electric razors
>>18608022>shave with cartridge razor, hate it >everyone hypes up DE safety razors as the 2nd coming of christ>try it out for a few weeks, still hate iti refuse to believe people like these things for any reason other than aesthetic and because its 'cool'. There's less ingrown hair and blades are cheap, but its the same shit
>>18614058Don't bother. Just trim it.
>>18608506Better than having a disgusting soibeard. And unlike razors, electric shavers don't slash your face up and give you micro scars, making your face look rough and leathery.
>>18614066I can easily shave multiple days of growth on my face with a safety razor and get a closer shave at that than i ever could with cartridges. Other than that it's just another form of funko pops with the addition of fragrances(soaps, aftershaves) for most people. Real reason for people who don't blow their money is that its 100 blades for 5-15$ USD which is why most people switch.
>>18614058Nose hair exist for a reason. You don't get rid of them. They're your first line of defense against dust, bugs and other bigger particles from entering your respiratory system. Just trim them, enough to not have any hairs sticking out of your nostrils. Use nose hair scissors or electric trimmer.
>tfw my mustache grow so fast
Should I shave my chest hair?
>started noticing blemishes more and more after i started using a safety razor last yearDo I need to go back to shitt disposables? I never had this shit with those. I look like I've got acne scars.
>>18608391I just use this and soap.
>>18608391Yes I want to spend 10c less per shave
Anyone know of a lather kit that packs up to less than a can of cream?Minimum has a brush and bowl/mug.
>>18617704Unironically just a tube and brush, I never even use a bowel.
>>18617706basic idea is a tube that hold the brush and some soap then the lid doubles as the mug.Might have to make what I want then market it as something revolutionary, should make it double as a stand.
>>18617720Its not new. But it hasn't been done in a long time. So you could turn a profit.
>>18617704why aren't you face lathering?
>>18613805Yes, a generic moisturizer. I don’t know, it’s on my skin only for maybe 30 seconds. Skin does not feel as irritated as without it that’s for sure.
>>18618134Cup should tripple as storage for a puck of soap
>>18618943>shouldcould
i still don't get how the fuck anyone shaves their face in the shower with anything other than an electricunless i'm staring intensely at a well lit fog free mirror i WILL miss spots or cut selfand you just let the water run the entire time or what?honestly, what the fuck is this voodoo?
>>18620215Yes I just let water run the whole time, if you put soap on the mirror and rinse it off it won't fog up for at least 10 minutes.
>>18620220>Yes I just let water run the whole timemy current place has an electric shower, i can't afford to do that. nor do i see why i'd want to>if you put soap on the mirror and rinse it off it won't fog up for at least 10 minutes.fuckin voodoo, man, i swear
I started using a straight razor 2 years ago. So far, the rivet on the part that holds the blade managed to fall off, so I did a DIY repair on it. It looks a lot uglier now, but it's working again.I think I like it more than cartridge shaving. With a cartridge, I feel like I have to shave every day. With a straight razor, I feel like I only have to do it every 2-3 days.
>>18614058Plucking is dangerous the same way that getting hickeys from a girl is dangerous. There is a non-zero chance of infection, but the chances are so low only dorks get worried about it.I don't pluck because it hurts like a bitch. I also don't trim because I don't want pointy stubble inside my nose.I actually wax them off. It doesn't hurt at all, and it's so much more satisfying.
whenever i get the odd hair poking out of the nose i enjoy the pain of plucking it out
>>18620275Why use a straight razor over a double-edge razor? inb4 "muh closer shave." I already get that with the DE.
>>18620420We both use the same type of razor. The only difference is that I have to break mine in half before using it.
>>18620215I tried it and I kept worrying about dropping the mirror so I couldn't focus on having the razor at the right angle to shave.
>>18620661This doesn't answer the question.
>>18620972Okay.
>>18617702These + a merkur safety razor is what I have used for like 20 years. It just werkz
anyone in here used an epilator? thinking about getting a cordless waterproof one so i can use it on body hair in the shower while i just regular shave my face since i find that to be easier, i dont want blades near my dick/balls or nips
Is BiC a good brand?
>tfw I love shaving with razors with aloe vera+vitamin E on themVery comfy
Shave every one or two weeks with the lowest guard. Don't like clean shaving because my skin gets irritated to the point people think I got a massive burn or cut. No cream worked.
>>18617702I am not worthy of the japanese steel. It’s almost TOO sharp. I personally don’t like em, but I get the appeal. With hot water to loosen everything up, my sensitive skin can best handle dry shaving with Derby (pretty good), Astra (really good), and Personna (absolutely amazing) blades (personna platinum, specifically. I think the other Personna-branded are made by a different company)
>>18614807Nahh the problem can likely be fixed by trying new blades. Look for a trial sampler pack with different brands. Derby, wilkinson sword, personna, feather, gillette naccet, voskod, merkur, etc. Everyone’s face is different–and a blade that hundreds swear by (such as Feather) might simply be too rough, whereas a different one that you don’t see a lot of discussion on (such as, let’s say, Voskod) might cut through like butter and never nick or irritate you or draw any blood. A safety razor is always going to be cheaper and provide a better shave than any disposable, in my opinion.
>>18620981I accept your concession.
there was a wet shaving/safety razor thread on and off for yearsanyway for me it's anything with a short handle plus an open comb, plus feather blades. Rn its a merkur
