I think dressing well is highly dependent on your job and where you are. Context matters. If you’re a lawyer and live in New York, you shouldn’t dress the same way a carpenter in Pittsburgh dresses. That said, both would do well to incorporate some simple button down shirts, namely oxford cloth, classic jeans and chinos, and decent looking boots like service boots and loafers. It’s a pretty classic mature look that will see you stand out a little because all of the other white collar workers are LARPing as blue collar or athletes while all the blue collar workers are dressing like slobs.
