>Leave clothes a little too long in washing machine>Literal mold starts forming on itWtf man, Why do my clothes get mold like its a strawberry left too long in the fridge
>>18618256Not accusing you, but I've seen this before repairing my parents washer>high efficiency >doesn't use HE rated soaps and fabric softeners>WAY too much fabric softener >doesn't set washer to self clean, ever much less weekly >never uses vinegar, followed with baking soda to clean out the washing machine>never wipes the gasket, gunky shit piles >smells yucky, MOAR FABRIC SOFTENER!
>>18618910Thank you for the knowledge repairanon, you are right that I was doing a lot of these things. Fundamentally it doesn't bother me though, the mold, I just thought it was funny that the literal clothes on your back can mold and rot away like a flower during autumn's first chill or unrequited love. even our very vestments are ephemeral, truly the greatest wisdom is that of birth, death, and change
Run a few loads of bleach through the machine. You should be doing a bleach load of whites at least once a month to keep the machine clean, even if you only put a few items of clothing in with it. Cold water for bleach, hot water destroys it. Vinegar may also work, do not combine them, do not use ammonia or other solvents. Vinegar smell needs a few cycles to dissapate. CLR smell may never go away so definitely not recommended. And yeah if you’re up for it, do a bit of minor taking-apart, and see if there is anything you can clean by hand in there.

usually that's because the washer already has mold. also, those sodium percarbonate tabs are way better at cleaning a washer than vinegar
>>18618910>normgroids dumping a bunch of shit into their clothes and washer because they think dousing it in fragrance means it's cleanI still remember when some laundry expert went viral for telling everyone you only need like a tablespoon of detergent and a bunch of browns talked about how they use a ton of Tide and scent beads or else they don't "feel" clean.meanwhile my clean clothing smells like nothing, as it should.
>>18618910Fabric softener is fucking cancer. Who the fuck is using that shit?
