Are traditionally made shoes (goodyear welted or blake etc.) better than cemented/vulcanized commonly seen today? They're more expensive for sure, but how much money actually goes towards:
- the product being more durable - upper leather from a known tannery or soles from Vibram, Dainite, Svig etc.
- the labor cost of a traditional craftsman

I never repair my cheap vulcanized shoes but I saw a video from a cobbler repairing a worn out tread. He sanded down the old sole, took a new Vibram one, re-vulcanized it to the old sole et voila.

I hate the "expanding comfort waistband" shit that they added because customers probably kept complaining that they like high waisted trousers, but it's restricting on the stomach. i was looking at Ralph Lauren, but i keep reading about Kamakura Shirts. while the reviews are good, im always hesitant of purchasing clothes online. i have wide shoulders and a big chest so i tend to get made my shirts custom made.

Ralph Lauren is Ralph Lauren. They're the quintessential OCBD for a lot of people. People complain about the collars, about the whatever else, and where they're made. You're in a really rough spot because you are both tall AND skinny. Best advice would be to start bulking up, you'll have more options at 6'3" with moderate muscular development than you do now.

I don't know too much about them but if $22 is a good price for you, try not to be too picky. If you are in college it could be perfect, I spent most of undergrad wearing a cheap thrifted blazer, you will spill beer on it, sweat in it, throw it on the ground, lay in the grass, etc.

3% elastine is all a shirt needs to be as stretchy as leggings. Clothing made with strech fabric uses less material and is typically cut slimmer because the stretch makes up for garbage pattern making. I'm not buying clothes with cuts that would be completely unwearable if they weren't strechy.
I made the mistake of buying chino shorts (mistake one) made out of 3% polyurethane or some other stretch garbage blend (second mistake) the fit is terrible because they aren't constrained by using fabric without elastic properties so why bother making a pattern that the human body can move naturally in.

Do these (I assume) French shirt patterns that Charvet and Husbands Paris sell have a name? Permanent Style's article about a bespoke shirt says the cloth is unique to Charvet. Proper Cloth has a few similar materials - they have "fancy stripe" or "multi stripe" in the name, but that's all I have.

It varies by brand. Sometimes you even wear a different size in different models of the same brand. Try to go by footbed length rather than size number (not all manufacturers provide that).
