How do you feel about men's jewelry?

I'd like something special but feel self conscious
>>
>>18628272
Not for me. I don't have cool tanned arms and big hands. I'm pale and my hands look stupidly small with almost tapered fingers. I don't want to bring any attention to my hands. Women already tend to see them and make some sort of mental ineligibility note as if I FOR SURE have no dick based on my hands.
Shallow bitches.
>>
>>18628272
A watch and a cross necklace under my shirt is the extent of the jewellery I wear. Also cufflinks rarely when the dress code necessitates it.
>>
>>18628272
Watch, wedding ring, crucifix. Anything other than that is superficial, feminine adornment.

Would you care to elaborate? It's there for a personal reason to remind me of Christ and also holds sentimental value since my deceased mother gave it to me as a confirmation gift. It's not to flaunt, be performative or a style choice.
>>
>>18628272
I think it can look good on a guy that has a more "out there" vibe. If you wanted to go this route id recommend only wearing tasteful, high quality jewelry. Avoid skulls, or anything that looks like its from 2006 era Hot Topic. Religious jewelry is normally never even specifically noticed unless it looks really good or it looks expensive. In order of least to most risky fit; rings>necklace>piercings>bracelets. If you have a facial piercing then its easier to wear more outlandish jewelry.

I only do rings, bracelets complete the look but I have more fun finding and wearing rings. They are more fun to match with each other and the mood of the day. My ring collection is growing but I'm glad it hasn't reached saturation levels which keeps prices reasonable. You can even get gold rings for spot so it's free money with prices going up.

>tell me.... without telling me

Really, that's enough of those. Unoriginal and really a bore to see. You don't get to tell me what I "actually believe". The fact that you believe any of that shit instantly makes you 10 times dumber than I am. It's a huge weakness in your mental ability to fall for such silly ancient scams.
How did people like you end up on this website? Really, I'd like to know. Less than ten years you've been here. That much is for certain. But what was it? Did you get booted off traditional social media for your views? What attracted you to this place?
It's just so very strange that a "man of god" would be on this dumb forum righteously defending religious brainwashing. Christians don't act that way. I don't believe any of that shit but I know way more about it than you do. You're doing it all wrong. Turn the other cheek.

To be fair, a wedding ring, a watch, and a crucifix are actually good advice since we're on /fa/ and people's taste here is generally terrible. >>
>>18628272
i like silver but a lot of silver jewelry is shitty, like the rings in that pic
rough cheap looking shit
however silver has a lot more variety than gold because it's so comparatively cheap to make
when it comes to gold jewelry with high quality standards there's a pretty strict amount of variety in the west. you have cubans, flat curbs, figaros francos ropes as what's super popular then some retro stuff like mariners, hermes links, and when it comes to rings there's much less variety unless you're buying vintage.
as far as what's being produced right now in various sizes it's all basically figaros francos ropes cubans and flat curbs. there's not nearly the same variation in modern rings let alone bangles or bracelets or pendants as you see in silver.
jesus piece, mary, the hamsa, etc.

i tend to like rarer niche pieces like gucci links, signets figaros and japanese stuff
>>
>>18629170

I like it but I don't care to the point of buying one for me.
I do got a question though. I've got this silver chain from father who died when I was a kid. It's literally the only item I got from him since he died in prison and shit.
Anyway my aunt kept this chain for the longest time (actually 22 years) so no one would lose it or take it and she wanted to give it to me. And i tought it was really cool of her.

The issue that it's fucking ugly as fuck. And I got a brother. So I was wondering if it's worth it to take this chain to a jeweler and make it into something else.
What requirements the chain have to have to be transformable?
>>
>>18633183
23k is not delicate but it has to be thick and heavy enough
i wouldn't go under like 2~mm and that's only with designs like a franco but to be safe i'd say 3-3.5
but even 2-3.5mm 22+k is expensive as fuck these days. it depends on the chain design too. some designs i would outright avoid like thin singapore links
>>
>>18633260
post the chain
it might just be tarnished, if it's real silver, and can be restored
if it's real a jeweler can do anything with it by melting it down and reshaping it but you'll be paying a lot for the labor + extra material
i would say just restore it maybe, post it i'll appraise it if possible

is there a smell? magnetic attraction?
definitely looks silver, in the franco/foxtail style. it's not ugly at all dude, you just need to detranish it. it may be thai. hopefully not indian but it looks 925 but there's a possibility it's 999. .950 is ideal for strength and appearance due to reduced copper content.

you can detarnish it by either getting the chemical kits or you can get some aluminum foil, shiny side up IIRC, boiling some water and dumping baking soda in the hot water with the chain and the tarnish will transfer to the foil. you may have to do it a few times if its heavily tarnished. i think you should just wear it honestly, it's handsome. that's what i like about silver, the designs are more unique and varied than high quality mass produced gold chains.

i tire of the same old rope, franco, cuban flat curb shit in gold. here's a small sample of what i most commonly wear >>18633118

i've picked up some 18k pendants since then and i plan to get a silver moissanite ring or something and some signets
>>
>>18633315
it looks high quality but stiff due to its construction so i wouldn't sleep in it unless it's a choker, but man, you've got a relic. i would keep it and detarnish it if it bothers you but you should rock that shit. it's a treasure from your family and honestly most people love this design, it's in the same class as francos and those are extremely popular.

honor your father and rock it. even if he was a bad guy or something if that is the case you should rock it as a genuine family heirloom and put your own legacy in it
>>
>>18633336
Thanks for the tips, no it doesn't smell like anything special. I don't have any magnets to test either. The problem isn't that it's ugly really, it's that's it's too thick and short so when I'm wearing it it's just a metalic choker like a goth girl would wear. I can see how it would have been better looking in the 80's though.
>>18633337
Yeah it's a choker. Ngl I'd wear it if the style wasn't too much. I don't even swear jewelry and when I used to, I hade a thin silver necklace.
Thanks for the words man, yeah he was a bad man, left me pretty traumatized but yeah it's cool to have something from him. I don't know why I'm willing to put the effort but I will.
>>
>>18633347
where does it sit? slightly below, on the collarbone or slightly above? the kind of shirt and collar you wear influences how your piece looks a lot. chokers can look really good in button ups.

have you measured it? it looks 4-6mm thick and i imagine 40-60 grams and if it's a choker on you that means probably 18-20 inches.

you could take it to a jeweler to have it shortened into a bracelet, maybe two if it's long enough

if it is you could do that and give one to your brother and keep the other. bracelets are typically 6.5-8.5 inches

Thats was my initial thought. Exactly so I could give the other to my brother and we would have both an item from our old man.

Watches are a luxury.
