2026 here, how do we feel about huge baggy shorts that are only a few inches away from being pants?
>>
I mean I like them I guess but then again I hate wearing shorts in general so it's just easier for me to wear shorts that are almost pants.

massive fan personally. always thought above the knee shorts were faggy anyway
>>
>>18649407
I see gen alphas/ late z wearing shit like this but it doesn't look right on them. It just looked stiffer for some reason and didn't have the same swagger as they did back in the day.
>>
I only ever see hispanics wear this

>>

I fucking hate them
>>
>>18649407
Do this shirtless with baggy boxers puffing out the top.
>>
>>18649407
In high school I used to wear these with basketball shorts underneath.
>>
I agree with what most people are saying here. Whenever I see shorts that go above the knees all I can think of is douchey preppy frat guys who constantly say that their dad is a lawyer and that they'll sue you. Meanwhile the long shorts that go below the knee are worn by men who go hiking and fix stuff and always carry lots of tools with them. The guys in the long shorts are more manly and could absolutely beat the shit out of the frat guys in the short shorts while they constantly cry for their lawyer dad throughout the whole fight.
>>
>>18649407
I'm gay so that might have some influence on my opinion but I fucking hate them with a passion. Not sure what so many straight men have against showing some thigh.

And I'm not saying to wear short shorts from the 70s, I myself don't wear those either, but come on, at least an inch or two above the knee please? It just looks so much better.

It makes your legs look longer, makes you look taller, ends at a more flattering place on your legs, and overall just makes you look so much more put together.

I grew up during the peak of the long shorts era where you got bullied for having shorts above your knees and I secretly always hated them even during that time. I really hope we don't revert back to that.
>>
>>18649498
>I'm gay
respectfully i'm gonna have to stop you right there. i don't give a shit about impressing gay dudes. if anything that only makes me wanna wear even longer shorts
>>
>>18649498
>legs look longer, makes you look taller, ends at a more flattering place on your legs
this isnt a good thing if youre already tall and very thin
>>
>>18649407
unless you're doing a sport that requires physical contact or you're a runner theres literally no reason to have your shorts above the knee.
>>
>>18649407
For me the worst thing about shorts above the knee isn't even how they look but how antipractical they are. Like first of all they tend to be rather tight, so uncomfortable. Second they allow for far less pocket space, meaning I can't carry any of my shit. And third they actually make me feel even hotter in the heat because of the sun hitting more of my bare legs plus extra risk of sunburn and having to put on extra sunscreen.
I really don't see the benefits of shorts above the knee unless you're specifically looking to show off your legs.
>>
>>18649407
It's what they make now so I wear them. Wish they were just a few inches shorter. Just under the knee is fine.
>>
>>18649407
You won't ever catch me dead in these but really only because my girlfriend absolutely hates them. My girlfriend absolutely loves shorts that show some thigh.
For me it doesn't really make a difference either way. To me personally it doesn't really make a difference what length my shorts are anyway so might as well wear the length that makes my girlfriend the happiest.

whenever i see a guy in shorts that go above his knees i just assume he's gay or at the very least bisexual. that's all. i haven't been wrong so far
every straight guy i ever met myself included wears the really long shorts
>>
>>18649407
Just above the knee looks good on everybody. Knee length or just below is the longest they should be and they only look good if you've got muscular calves. Short shorts are great if you've got muscular quads
>>
>>18649425
>>18649951
Only 1 and 4 look good because of their calves. OP pic looks like nerdy losers
>>
>>18649407
In my opinion this is the perfect length for men's shorts and I don't see how it's even up for debate. Any longer OR shorter (except for swim trunks) looks stupid. And to be clear I'm talking just about the length not the material, color, fit or anything else like that. Not saying all shorts need to look just like the pic but just be that same length.
>>
>>18649962
naaaaah bruh if i wore shorts that short my dick and balls would constantly be plopping out of the leg holes
>>
>>18649969
Bro shut the fuck up your dick and your balls are NOT that big, probably not even close. That length in specific is a 9 inch inseam. Like for real stop lying bro your flaccid cock is not 9 inches long. I hear guys say this all the time and my immediate thoughts are and I quote "liar liar pants on fire."
>>
>>18649977
true and not only that but guys who are truly hung usually don't feel the need to constantly mention it or brag about it. similar to how if someone repeatedly states they are a good person over and over again it usually means that they're actually kind of a dick
>>
So this is what we're back to huh. It seems like it was just yesterday when people were going crazy (in a good way) over 5 inch inseam shorts on TikTok...and that was back in...2020...and now we're in...FUCKING 2026?!?! More than halfway through the 2020s?!?!

Holy shit has time been flying fast and I've been getting old. I swear so far the 2020s have just been blending together so much for me. To me it still feels like we're in 2020.

Existential crisis aside it has been 6 years since 2020 so makes sense that in that time we'd go from 5 inch inseam to...whatever inseam these current shorts are. 13 inch inseam? 15? Whatever, just a really long inseam.
>>
>>18650012
let me guess in 2019 you were in your late teens and then entered your 20s for the first time starting in 2020 and now time is suddenly going super fast while before it was going really slow? welcome to the party pal

We get it bro. You're old.
>>
>>18649407
I've seen my fair share of men going commando in short shorts so I love these shorts. Don't ask me how I knew they were going commando. Use your imagination.
>>
>>18649962
This right here. It's just the most practical length overall. Short enough so you can enjoy the sun and get a nice tan on most of your legs but also long enough so that it doesn't look like you're wearing boxers or anything. I personally like mine a bit baggier and in a different color but still that exact same length like you said.
>>
>>18649859
Uh me and my girlfriend shop for clothes together and we don't necessarily go for a specific length, the length is not even the first thing we look for, but the rule my girlfriend likes for me to follow and I quote is "yo damn shorts cannot be friends with yo damn knees."
So basically we find a pair of shorts that looks nice, do the "length test" to make sure they don't touch my knees, and then we buy them if they don't touch my knees.
This translates to all my shorts being somewhere from just barely above the knee to mid-thigh, or even upper thigh in the case of athletic shorts and swim trunks. Though recently we've been going for just barely above the knee only because the very short shorts are becoming harder and harder to find around here.
If in the probably not too distant future all the shorts in stores are knee-length or longer me and my girlfriend will have to start cutting pants into shorts, lol.
>>
>>18650339
>"yo damn shorts cannot be friends with yo damn knees."
holy shit i could almost hear this. let me guess your girlfriend is a very stereotypical minority?
>>
>>18650356
She is actually. Even straight up "ghetto" sometimes for the lack of better words. I'm kind of surprised a woman like her went for a nerdy White guy like me. Despite her ghetto exterior though she's the literal nicest woman I've ever met in my life. Thought she was kind of a bitch on first impression but she changed that fast.
I'm also surprised she likes guys in above the knee shorts because men in her culture are associated with wearing the longest, baggiest shorts out there. In fact they're the ones who started the trend in the first place.
I'm not complaining about any of this though. It's perfect how it is.

this is the second time ive seen you trauma dump, about the frat boys who used to bully you, in a thread about shorts. go to therapy anon, inseam lengths are not that deep.
>>
>>18649407
They used to do this back when I was a kid in the 90s
>>
>>18649407
At this point you may as well wear capris. I don't mind shorts going to the knee or slightly below like most anons here but I never liked these. Unless you're a skater, somehow they can pull it off.
>>
>>18650374
I love how hard you're trying to not admit that she's black. Like bro even a blind man can tell that she's black based on your description of her just say that she's black
>>
>>18650412
I mean they basically ARE capris just a lot wider, looser, and baggier. The only reason they aren't called capris is because capris by this point in time is a feminine associated term that men don't want applied to their clothes. If the terms were currently being made up it'd just be skinny capris vs baggy capris similar to skinny jeans vs baggy jeans.

Yeah...that's gonna be a no from me. I just switched to 5 inch inseams not too long ago and low-key one of the best decisions I've ever made in my life, like top 10 at least. It may sound small but in a hot and humid climate a shorter inseam just makes an absolutely massive difference. Just so much more comfortable and breathable. And as a bonus I get a surprisingly high amount of compliments from women over it and I'm not even hot. I highly doubt I'm ever going back to long shorts again, regardless of what current trends are. Days where I wear shorts in general are not days where I'm really trying to be fashionable anyway.
>>
>>18650442
it's funny because i hear a lot of guys say this but i've had the exact opposite experience
i used to wear short chino shorts just simply because that's what everyone around here used to wear but i switched to really long cargo shorts and literally burned all of my old shorts immediately
now i have enough space to carry all of my shit, i don't need to use an excessive amount of sunscreen on my legs because the vast majority of my legs is protected, it's more comfortable because they're much looser than the short shorts, and i've also gotten many compliments from women because they know that my shorts are huge enough to carry all of their shit no problem so they don't even need to bring purses
i also don't really care about being fashionable in shorts but they also look better in my opinion. they look more rugged. manly. the short shorts look a little fruity to me

I was alive in the late-'90s/early-'00s, when baggy was cool. I hated it. I thought it was ugly. I was glad when it died and twee tumblr hipster slim fit replaced it. Now that '00s baggy has cyclically returned, I hate it even more. It is still very ugly.

Yes, almost like wearing proper pants, like a man.
>>
>>18650455
Right? I always see/hear people say this and if you were going out hiking or to fix some stuff that requires a lot of tools to use it'd be perfectly understandable but what the fuck do you need to carry if all you're doing is going to work, going to college, going to a restaurant, playing video games with friends, or just going for a simple walk at the park? You just look like a slob if you're not actually hiking or fixing stuff. And for me personally having that much stuff in my pockets is just uncomfortable, especially if it keeps hitting my legs as I walk. Sensory thing maybe but I don't like it.

Any man who carries more than these things is a certified woman who should just transition and get it over with. A lot of places these days won't let you carry knives for security, so that's one less shit to worry about. You rarely need it anyway.
>>
Lesbian here so not even attracted to men but guys please don't wear shorts like this. Shorter just looks so much better in terms of aesthetics. And I know that standards for women's shorts are different and that my shorts are long for those standards but I wear 5 inch inseams and I don't think that'd change if I woke up as a guy. At most I'd bump up to a 7 inch inseam max.
>>
>>18650552
Nothing wrong with wearing longer shorts as long as they aren't baggy. Baggy shorts just make your legs look like twigs. That's not a good look. Picrel is how below the knee shorts should fit.

I can't imagine a grown man wearing those. Not if he cares remotely about how he looks, its like a wallet chain. You do get a pass for those shorts if you're performing in a nu-metal band. Even then you should probably change out of them once you're done with your set.

I think it's telling that the only people ITT who approve are guys who think it's gay to have other people see their knees. Even living out in the sticks like I do I don't think I've encountered made up "guy rules" that stupid before.

This cut is objectively the equivalent of baggy 90s jeans and is what I would have worn in the 90s as a kid.
>>18650572
>>
>>18650572
Oh I am aware and I don't disagree. I always tell my lesbian friends how bad they look. They look especially bad on me because they make my legs look so fucking short. I look much better in something mid-thigh.
>>
>>18650577
>This cut is objectively the equivalent of baggy 90s jeans and is what I would have worn in the 90s as a kid.
Yeah, I know. I saw the tail end of all that, but that's why I specified "grown man". I was wearing cardigans and skinny jeans when I was that age. It doesn't mean I'd dress like that now. Unless, of course, I was performing in an electroclash revival band.
>>
>>18650572
Right? Kind of ironic that she'd say that. I haven't seen a guy wear those types of shorts in a long time meanwhile I see fat butch lesbians doing it daily. It's almost like it's forbidden for fat butch lesbians to show their knees. Meanwhile guys regularly go several inches above.

Agreed. It seems this mindset first started off in the 90s and picked up even more in the early 2000s. No idea who started it or why but it's always been dumb as hell.

First of all a lot of fashion is based on made up rules, but as far as "living in the sticks" is concerned I think it's more of a class delineation than anything. Nobody would think some rich Chad was gay just for showing knees but if you are a twink and show up to the TPUSA halftime watch party wearing short shorts you will look out of place and gay.

Like looking at those pics one thing I can say is that the long shorts make their legs look stumpy as fuck while the ones that are slightly above the knee make the legs look a million times better.
>>

>>
i only wear workout shorts. if im wearing shorts im either working out or its 100 degrees outside and im grocery shopping or eating lunch or at the park or something. no need for chino or anything in those scenarios. cut some cheap sweat pants down to size
>>
>>18650966
Yeah...unfortunately the thing about being gay for showing your knees or thighs is very strongly ingrained within the brains of weak minded individuals.
>>
>>18650970
It's such a cultural difference. As an Australian, tradies wear short shorts. Footy players wear short shorts. Wearing short shorts is just what normal, masculine blokes wear.
>>
>>18650972
Yeah! I think wearing short shorts is the norm everywhere outside of America. They just make logical sense because they're called "shorts" for a reason NOT "longs," plus in hot weather showing more skin just makes more sense. There's a reason people wear swimsuits at the beach and not burqas. Just make sure to apply sunscreen.
>>
>>18650934
Sweatie, calf length 3/4th pants have been a part of traditional European outfits for centuries. They look way better than gay little shorts, because they're short enough to not get in the way while you walk and work, and long enough to not be overly short and gay.
And if you wear a proper traditional European outfit with 3/4th pants, you can make your socks a seamless part of your outfit and not just hide them under your pants, or have them stick out awkwardly as a utilitarian tool with (above knee) shorts.

They definitely remind me of the way I used to dress back when I was like 8 and was growing up really fast so it was just cheaper to buy clothes that were way too big. By high school though where I had mostly finished growing I began to wear shorts slightly above the knee. These days my shorts are slightly shorter than what I used to wear in high school but not by much.
>>
>>18652083
oh boy what school did you go to where they didn't make fun of you for having shorts above your knees
>>
>>18652099
Oh don't get me wrong they did make fun of me...kind of. By the time high school rolled around your shorts were still expected to be below the knee but just barely below the knee. As in ending at the bottom part of the knee cap rather than going all the way down to mid-calf. So my shorts weren't that short compared to the standard length. The length I wore was somewhat uncommon but not absurdly so. It was basically just banter over something they associated with me. And back in high school I was actually pretty popular and considered pretty attractive so it was seen more as a quirk than a truly bad thing. The girls in specifically made fun of it but at the same time admitted they found it pretty attractive. Then by college slightly above the knee became standard length so nobody had much to say about it anymore.
>>
>>18652103
That's not what making fun of means you dumb piece of shit. You yourself said it, it's just banter.
>>
>>18649407
I know that the mindset a lot of people have is that above the knee equals gay while below the knee equals manly but I've found it to be the other way around ironically enough. Guys that wear shorts above the knee from my experience are confident in their bodies and there's nothing more masculine than that. Meanwhile guys that wear shorts below the knee from my experience are constantly worried about being perceived as gay and in my opinion that only makes them seem more gay. Like if you're not gay why are you so worried about being seen as gay if you wear shorter shorts?

Real talk that show is seriously underrated. Yes it's an old show and yes a lot of the costumes and animatronics are kind of creepy but it's really funny and cleverly written. Almost like the early seasons of the Simpsons but with dinosaurs instead. And the ending is legit extremely sad if you've watched all 4 seasons all 65 episodes. I don't know if anyone cares about spoilers for a pretty obscure 1991 show, and since the characters are dinosaurs you can probably guess what happens, but "
the main character dad accidentally causes severe climate change which causes an ice age through his sheer stupidity and says "dinosaurs have been around for millions and millions of years it's not like we're just gonna disappear just like that" and then the family huddles together in the cold preparing for their death, though the deaths themselves are not explicitly shown, just heavily implied.
" I'm not someone who cries easily but that ending made me cry till my eyes were red. Even rewatching it today as an adult.
>>
>>18652955
Ps in case anyone actually cares for spoilers for a 35 year old show, I feel like a newfag but I tried to add spoiler tags and for some reason it would never actually hide the text. I tried deleting and reposting my comment like 10 times trying to get the spoiler tag to work but it just didn't.

Like
text example
or (
text example
) or ("
text example
") or "
text example
" etc.

Not sure what the fuck I did wrong and I feel like a complete and total dumbass but yeah.

for future reference bro the spoiler thing doesn't work on all boards. you can find the list in the rules but the spoiler thing only works for boards related to video games tv shows or comics. it doesn't apply to boards related to fashion cooking animals or basically anything else that's not video games tv shows or comics

omg you are speaking my mind! kind of sucks that it's borderline lost media by 2026 standards and will probably be forgotten completely in the future. it's amazing but unfortunately not very popular anymore

I'm bisexual and in my humble opinion these shorts are the literal least sexy thing anyone male or female can wear. They just look like they're unsure if they want to be pants or shorts. I hate capris for the exact same reason.

any time i see a guy in shorts like this all i can picture is Doug Funnie
>>
>>18654361
...is the one with shorter hair in the yellow shirt and blue shorts a woman or a man?
>>
>>18654365
Sometimes cartoon characters have really short or stubby legs as part of the art style making it hard to tell how short shorts, skirts, and dresses are but in that pic you can clearly see that the girl is showing a lot more leg than the boy and they are of similar heights and proportions. So you can tell that even for the art style they're really long shorts.

every straight woman and gay man i have ever met agrees with you on this

this might be the most closeted homosexual post I've seen on this site, and that's saying something
>>
Ausfag, but rugby shorts are the perfect length and I'm not going back to this cringe shit
>>
>>18654398
the fact that you seem to be unironically "measuring" how much leg cartoon characters are showing is just sad as hell lol
>>
>>18649531
if youre tall and thin it doesnt matter what you wear, fashion is literally pointless atp. women will want to lay with you regardless
>>
>>18649531
even so below the knee shorts just end on an awkward spot on your legs. just wear shorts that are barely above the knee in that case
>>
>>18655237
Trust me buddy if you're tall enough with long enough legs even just barely above the knee will look extremely awkward on you. If I don't wear shorts down to my calves my body looks like it's 80% legs and only 20% torso.
>>
>>18655349
THANK YOU for saying this! I'm so tired of those people who preach that you MUST wear a very specific length to look fashionable. Like back when 5 inch inseam shorts were at the height of their popularity and people were saying over and over "you NEED to wear 5 inch inseams this summer!" Like trust me, 5 inch inseams would look so indecent on me for so many reasons. With 5 inch inseams I might as well be wearing a speedo.
>>
Why not get baggy capris like coastal fisherman used to wear?
>>
>>18655397
yes. shorts like this are basically capris anyway. calling them shorts is an insult to proper length shorts
>>
>>18655407
>proper length shorts
Well technically all the word shorts means is short pants. There's not a specified length they just have to be shorter than full length pants, be it really long shorts or really short shorts.

Fucking awful. People who wear them look like manlets regardless of their height. Picrel is how long all shorts should be.
>>
>>18655472
The shorts of the guy in the white shirt are the perfect length but the shorts of the guy in the purple shirt are too short. They look like literal women's shorts. Also doesn't help that his legs look so pale, smooth, and hairless. I feel like they could be mistaken for women's legs if you cropped out the top half of his body to show only the legs.
>>
>>18655948
>the guy in the purple shirt
>Gen Z doesn't even know the name of the 42nd president of the US
Jesus fucking Christ this world is truly doomed. And these retarded Gen Z kids are eventually gonna go on to have kids, grandchildren, great grandchildren, etc...till eventually Millennials and older are completely dead and the world is entirely run by Gen Z retards.
At this rate I wouldn't mind if we faced another extinction like with the dinosaurs. Hell I'd argue even dinosaurs were smarter than these Gen Z retards. How much we've devolved...
>>
>>18656294
at least dinosaurs lived in the real world and had to run around and hunt their prey and shit. the vast majority of gen z are online all the time never go outside and get a heart attack over having to say hello to their neighbors and shit
>>
>>18649407
Where I live it's basically 2003 all over again with everyone wearing the long and baggy shorts and you being made fun of and being called gay if you show your knees. Guess I'm old enough to have seen the trend when it first started, when it first left, and to see it now come back a second time huh.

Don't quote me on this but I have a few acquaintances who are teachers and they say that kids these days can't even read. Like they're in high school and they're reading at like a 2nd grade level. How their parents and previous teachers never tried correcting them I'll never know.
>>
>>18655948
>Also doesn't help that his legs look so pale, smooth, and hairless.
don't you know that some people have light colored body hair? all because it's not immediately visible doesn't mean it's not there dumbass
>>
>>18649994
guys with dicks that big have no need to ever care about fashion and probably hate every kinda trending fashion coz their giant cocks will be visible in EVERYTHING.
seriously try stuffing a 9 inch dildo down your pants, it is visible even if you wear the thickest workman's jeans or overalls.
there's a reason women clock them instantly and basically turn into their sex slaves - they are super rare and have their pick of the pack
>>
>>18650606
that's coz like baudrillard said would happen you have become disconnected from reality
prominent veins are directly linked to great cardio and vitality - anyone with them is usually really strong and can fuck like a horse.
tl;dr have sex
>>
i think capris or 3/4 pants look terrible even on women and with men's shorts it's no different
>>
>>18657279
>even on women
I agree but I'll take it a step even further than anyone else in this thread has thought of: I think that skirts and dresses below the knee (excluding maxi skirts) look awful on women.
To me skirts and dresses on women only look good if they're full length maxis or above the knees. Any length that's below the knee but not a maxi looks horrible.
>>
They're uncomfortable to walk in because of the way they flop around
>>
Long shorts make you look like a dwarf
>>
>>18657458
Holy fucking shit I've literally never ever thought about that in my whole entire fucking life but now that you're saying it I do kind of agree actually. It's just an awkward overall length. Incredibly unsexy too. It's not a beautiful long dress but it's not a sexy shorter dress that shows off a glimpse of thigh either. Showing only the calves but not the knees or thighs does nothing for me. It also reminds me of religious women who aren't allowed to wear dresses above the knees so they go for an awkward not quite short not quite long length that looks awful.
>>
>>18657458
Calf length dresses can look good if they're tight
>>
>>18649438
Lots of girls at bougie cafés wear these with a bob haircut and end up looking like very androgynous and childish. I suppose that there intention
