been a model for 12 years, I get paid average $1500 a day rate, sometimes much more. I was cheap at the start and didnt pay for portfolio updates. once i hired some legit photographers the work rolled in.if ur not super lucky, and signed with multiple agencies. you'll probably be broke and stressed out. also acting is a big part of it now. not as much lines but there's video auditions online, and then these mfers have "Call backs" if ur seriously considered. Call backs are where they want you to mime dumbass scenarios for the shoot etc. So I just stopped doing those...fwiw I do lifestyle modeling in the south. lots of smiles. I did some fashion stuff when I was younger and it's a lot of sexual harassment and unpaid"editorial" shoots that make your book look like you're legit. imo go for lifestyle or just spare yourself. also if you want to go far as a fashion male model, you probably going to have to let someone diddle you. I got close enough to see how things really go down. There are some desperate guys out there. Sorry I didn't let anyone diddle me, but I know a few guys who did. And they all got depressed and quit soon after.
