These guys were so big they used to have their name attached to SUV's. What went wrong?
>>
They just ended up being a generic boring mall store made of Chinese plastic garbage
There was nothing good or special or interesting about them
>>
they were an "outdoor" brand with no technical outdoor gear
lost out to technical brands for actually outdoorsy shit, lost out to patagonia and northface or casual wear.
its a shame because i really like everything ive ever owned thats eddie bauer. its not quite as nice as LL bean but universally fits and looks better.

They were acquired by private equity. Quality tanked, everything outsourced, everything made of plastic, ridiculous prices
Tale as old as time. Anything private equity touches will eventually die

Reading the story, it seems it's banker tricks. Bought relatively recently by bankers, going BK to get out of leases. Further down in the story a euro stock trader says its brand quality is poor compared to others in the segment, probably due to earlier banker tricks of diluting quality while trading off the good brand name reputation.

When I was 14-19 I dated a girl whose mother owned a Ford Explorer Eddie bauer edition. That must have been 20, 25 years ago. I own a duffle bag from them, one of those packable gimmicks.
>>
i totally forgot they used to do 'brand' editions of cars. my dads friend had an L.L. Bean edition subaru.

i need a polo bear miata
>>
Good riddance.
What went wrong? Basically all the guys old enough to buy their clothes are dying.

lo they changed their logo because they wanted to tap into a younger audience and they thought gen z was too stupid to read cursive writing
>>

They closed brick and mortars online stilll exists and has less overhead for shareholders. I'm also wondering if they got a contract with a department store.
>>

They aren't wrong about that.

>produces boring boomer fashion
>wonders why he's bankrupt
Just go with bootcut jeans
>>
>>18650394
They put DEI hires into every image
Go woke go broke
There are better navy blue dress pants in the world
>>

The other way around: Boomer fashion, doomer smash in.

Mall shopping is dead, Anon.
This made them hardcore compete online... and damn are there a lot of "outdoor" brands they had to compete with for that.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed Eddie Bauer and some of my best pants and gear actually has their brand on it! But... those were purchased more than a decade ago, and "best" is "slightly better" than other extremely high quality stuff I have/had.

Back to L.L. Bean, Columbia, Patagonia, The North Face or shopping at REI for the casual "outdoor" brands.
>>
i like to go to the mall to look at things and try things on and try to fuck girls there
>>
I own a handful of basics from Eddie Bauer. They're all thrifted and range from 5-25ish years old. I visited their store a few times in recent years and they don't even sell most of those kind of basics anymore, let alone in 100% cotton. What a shame.

if you werent such a spammer faggot youd know in the 90s niggas wore eddie bauer jackets with their bootcut jeans.
>>
their primary demographic (old poor people) would rather but amazon NIGFAG brands now.
