Him along with 90% of the heritage menswear influencers look like absolute dogshit. The same can be said for almostvintagestyle, the denimdentist, Carl whatever Jew last name, etc.. The only exception to this general circle of menswear influencers is VintageFuture or Bootsofmannishleather who doesn’t dress so incredibly gaudy and over the top.

The specific issues with Stridewise is that he focuses HEAVILY on slim/tapered cuts and is deathly allergic to respecting the proportional rule of thirds. He regularly gets called out for having complete shit choice in how his jeans fit, and instead of just ignoring the reasonable criticism and going on with his life, he takes the bait every single time and tries to play it off like he doesn’t care. He recently put out a video of him interviewing some random guys about the issue with tapered cuts. The guys gave a complete non-answer and avoided giving a direct response. I grilled him in the comments and gave him an actual response with very specific issues with heavily tapered cuts and pic related was his shitty ass reply. For one, it DOES in fact look weird if your shoes are proportionally big from the large degree of taper, and for two he is disingenuously resorting to a strawman. To him, if his knee dimension is 10” and his hem is 9.2”, that’s literally not tapered at all and instead he needs a knee of 9” and a hem of 6.5”. A lot of millennials completely had their minds broken in 2010-2016 and are incapable of seeing outside of the slim taper tunnel vision. The funny part is that he is literally men’s fashion influencer and cannot take a single bit of specific, direct criticism of his style and what he promotes. Im going to continue giving him shit if he keeps making videos like that

I don't know shit about fashion and even I can tell this looks terrible

I don't think he has a single pair of pants that isn't too tight or too short
>>
>>18651350
Literally over 80% of his complete lack of fashion would be solved if he wore actual straight or relaxed cuts. His silhouette is god awful
>>
>>18651350
The bottom part of his body screams HONK HONK
>>
>>18651359
The crazy thing is the pants in picrel are the Naked & Famous Strong guy, a straight jeans. Idk how he managed to make it fit like that
>>
>>18651359
see my post about his squat fetish. hes probably a power bottom and wants a juicy ass, but wants to dress like a skinny twink.
>>
>>18651362
The strong guy pretty much has zero taper. You couldn’t find a more complete opposite example from what he usually wears. This guy should be wearing 1940s-50s repros. Larger thigh width with a moderate but balanced taper. Even with the strong guy cut, he looks a million times better than what he usually looks like
>>
>>18651362
Theyre hemmed too short to begin with and then he not only cuffed them, but paired them with a low top shoe in a contrasting color. Basically did everything he could to emphasize how scrawny his ankles are and break up the silhouette of his legs.

If he either let them pool on his shoes a bit, or wore a taller boot (and had one bigger cuff instead of that little roll) he'd look much better.

Also not a fan of how slim the shirt is- that type of loose bottom works best with a shirt that blouses a bit when tucked to emphasize the cinching effect of the belt on the silhouette, but thats far from the worst offender here.

Tbh I wish I had a fraction of his misplaced confidence. I could monetize the shit out of it.

FUCK relaxed tapered cuts. Theyre the biggest dyel filter in denim. If you can fit them, you dont have big thighs, youre just fucking fat. Nobody who lifts can comfortably fit a knee measurement <9". I dont care what the pants measure through the seat- quads and hammies are thick all the way down. There was a period where every "Ive got big thighs from lifting, what jean should I buy" was met with Iron Heart 888, and then you look at whos making the comment and its either a pot bellied millennial who thinks that because he cant fit jcrew slims anymore he has big legs or just a legitimately fat dude who doesnt grasp that big thighs are only "big" relative to waist. If you need a 13" thigh to be comfortable but your waist is 36" you're just fucking fat and you have no business in a conversation about athletic fits.

no, he wears the safest most boring menswear/workwear stuff imaginable. it's like he's scared to wear anything that isn't blue or brown. all his fits looks the same.
he's STILL too scared to wear wider leg pants because he's a 39 year old older millennial and it's hardwired in his brain that his pants must be slim no matter what
also his accent is retarded as fuck.
t. been watching his channel since the very beginning and it's like he's an irl friend at this point
>>
>>18651327
>proportional rule of thirds.
That's not a thing, and you people need to stop saying it.
>>
>>18651472
It’s not an end-all-be-all rule, but it is a good rule of thumb if you’re looking to craft an appealing silhouette. How the fuck would anyone argue with this?
>>

100%. I cannot tell you how many times I’ve seen people recommend the 888 as a “weightlifter’s cut”. Prior to 2020, I had a pair. I am 6’1” and weighed around 180-185 lb with an actual athletic build. Those things fucking sucked. The thigh was not at all thick enough, the crotch mobility was shit, and they looked like a typical run of the mill slim cut. I was chatting with the sales reps at Self Edge a few years ago and I remember them saying something of the effect of, “the 888 is the cut for guys who literally don’t lift or who maybe do squats once a year”. If you actually have large thighs, there’s not a universe or plane of existence in which you should be wearing relaxed tapered, slim tapered, or slim cuts. I will never understand why Stridewise doesn’t just swallow his pride and accept that everyone probably has a good point when they tell him he looks like shit
>>
>>18651479
>It’s not an end-all-be-all rule
Then it's not a fucking rule. It's formulaic and it results in retarded faggots cropping the shit out of their shirts and wearing their pants at their nipples.
>>
>>18651483
>life is black and white, false dialectic
You are literally retarded. What are your “rules” then? Would you say that there are good outfits crafted outside of your rules? Obviously there are. What if I argued that just because classical music is objectively a great genre of music, you cannot listen to literally anything else? It’s clearly a retarded argument and the anatomy of your argument is fundamentally the same
>>
>>18651350
>tiny double cuff resting above the ankles
This shit drives me nuts. I’m a complete jap denim autist, so I always cuff my jeans. However, there are certain types of cuffing that look awful and there are unfortunately way too many retards out there who will do a 0.25” thick double cuff even though they don’t have enough inseam simply so that they can have a double cuff. It is THE definition of being a tryhard and it looks completely unnatural. Yes, you can say that cuffing in and of itself is tryhard, but this shit is on another level. None of these guys think that a single turn up cuff looks good and will always do stupid shit like this. I promise you that when you cuff above your ankles and/or when your double cuff is very tiny, it looks ridiculous
>>

You just described the majority of this board.

>>18651238
looks like shit
>>
>>18651507
>What are your “rules” then?
The one rule is that there are no rules.
>Obviously there are.
Nope.
>What if I argued that just because classical music is objectively a great
Your premise is false. So the rest doesn't matter.
>It’s clearly a retarded argument
Yes, because you're retarded.

This is incredibly astute and applies to many things.

I have been watching Stridewise since his first videos. I think he had maybe 2 videos up when I stumbled upon his channel
I feel like I know him personally at this point

these are both deeply homosexual

>>18651327
He's stuck in the early 2010s like every rapidly aging millennial. They will wear slim cuts till the very end.
>>
>>18651263
yeah, he's a millennial
>>
>>18651263
He's a powerlifter. Dude's actually in good shape for a 40 year old
>>
>>18651446
He does look like what an AI would output if you asked it for a summary of 2010s menswear styles.
>>
>>18651327
He looks fine, not great, not "effay", but perfectly fine, you're obviously in high school, you'll look back on your parachute pants in about 5 years and realize how silly this all sounds
>>
>>18651991
>if you don’t wear slim tapered cuts, you must be wearing JNCO jeans!!!
Absolute retard

Zoom zoom zoom, try not to trip on yourself zoomie, or the ER doctors will laugh at you, but then again that's the point of dressing like a clown isn't it? To make people laugh? The best medicine!
