What kind of shoes should a man wear at 29 years old?

My current rotation
> Alden Penny Loafers
> Viberg Service Boots
> L.L. Bean Camp Mocassins
> Sperry Boat Shoes
> Blundstone Classic
> Filson Ropers
> whatever sneakers
I don’t really wear dress shoes. I just wear loafers, and the only good loafers are penny loafers. The service boots are for like casual wear and going out. Neither Alden or Viberg are objectively worth the price honestly. They just happen to be my personal favorites. The others are just for shit kicking.

>Oxford shoes originated in the early 19th century, evolving from 17th-century Scottish/Irish footwear and, most notably, the "Oxonian," a 1825 ankle boot with side slits popular at Oxford University. Students sought a comfortable alternative to high boots, gradually replacing slits with laces and shortening the design to a low-cut shoe.
>>
>>18652781
Thanks for the history lesson, but when would you ever wear a boot that can be dressed up? I'd rather wear a shoe that can be dressed down.
>>
>>18652051
The only expensive-ish shoes on that list are the Aldens and Vibergs
>>
>>18652786
Not him, but they are considered hyper-formalwear these days and are going to look out of place with almost anything you'll ever wear. So, to answer your question "when would you wear them?", you probably wouldn't.

my main shoes are either desert boots, ankle boots, or derbies. occasionally i'll wear penny loafers. i just ordered some camp mocs to hopefully be my new daily wear shoes.
any of these could be worn with jeans, chinos, wool trousers. you name it
i feel so out of place and childish wearing sneakers

I'm basically ride or die with Oxfords. This keeps me from wanting other styles, and I thus remain more focused. That said, I own a pair of Moccasins, and a cheap pair of Chelseas.
I may buy cowboy boots if it's opportune. I like when I see cute girls in those. I'm a guy, but I get jealous.
The reason why wearing Oxfords, for me as a grown-man, is important is because my preferred cut of dress pant is academic and baggy/spacious, my preferred casual shirt is an Oxford, and my preferred coat is a tweed.

>>
my current rotation:
>some 10-year-old Hilfiger premium line chelseas
that actually turned out to be decent and only required sole replacement 4 years ago because the original one was leather only
>Barker Bedale Hi-Shine
for smarter occasions
>Loake 1880 Lytham Oxblood Grain chukka boots
>Crockett & Jones Chelsea 5 rough-out suede in brown
>white Saint Laurent SL61
>beat-up black Nike Cortez
>off-white Adidas Continental 80
>Filling Pieces Low Top Aten - black upper/white midsole
some no-name Portuguese brand that turned out ok quality- and comfort-wise
>Loake Lymington boat shoes in brown leather and navy nubuck
>Bally Pilot black driver shoes

t. medical doctor in central Europe, age 35, I'm white and green-eyed. Guess it matters, as I heard that e.g. Nike Cortez is a trademark of gangs in certain parts of the USA.

why so many pairs? I bought them over many years, each pair is treated right, most have their own pair of shoe trees, and it's good for your shoes to leave them for a day after wearing, especially in the summer. I'm not into menswear or heritage wear, or any flavor-of-the-month trend, I just buy what I like at the moment, sometimes I got good deals for certain pieces. I'm not into skinny jeans or baggy plastic pants with tractor-soled boat shoes, platform sneakers, or hoove-like split-toed abominations.

tldr: wear what you want and what you feel comfortable in. most people don't give a fuck anyway, and women mostly care only about how clean and maintained your shoes are.
>>
>>18654086
I met a girl that really likes Onitsuka Tigers, so I'm considering those in the future. I think they look pretty good.
>>
>>18654088
I was completely unimpressed and disappointed with Onitsuka Tigers
I had a pair a few years back and after 1 year they were completely trashed and looked beat. Those things are complete junk but they jacked the prices way up to market them as "luxury" shoes and now they're selling that crap for ridiculous prices they aren't worth
I'd get another pair of the prices weren't so stupid, they are comfortable as beater shoes, but they are only beaters and nothing more
>>
>>18654086
and some Partenope black plain toe oxford shoes for smarter events in the summer
>>
>>18654088
Those are nice, but a bit skinny. I guess most of the hype comes from Kill Bill and Asian martial arts movies. I used to have similarly-structured Puma Speedcats in blue suede, which were extremely comfortable, but they got torn out inside and outside very quickly.
>>
>>18654088

>>

and also Puma Pirelli Replicat-X
because it says fucking Pirelli on the bottom and the thread was inspired by car tires, and how cool is that?
>>
>>18651942
Penny loafer
>>
Goodyear or Norwegian welted Derbies with rubber soles for general purpose, black if tyrolean, brown otherwise.
Blake stitched loafers in a lighter color for warm days.
Goodyear or Norwegian welted boots with lugged rubber soles for winter and intermediate weather, pick your style and color, boots are entirely casual and practical and should not be dressed up.
Avoid suede that isn't impregnated with wax, some "waxed" suede only has a sprayed on coating.

That's three shoes to get you through the whole year and 99% of occasions. Add a second pair in a different style in a category if you wear them a lot for a larger rotation and to extend the lifespan of each pair.

I was thinking I'd get slightly more expensive ones, not the really basic and cheap Mexico ones. Even in store those ones looked a little cheap but some of the more expensive ones like the EDR seem like they'd be pretty good. Mexico 66 prices seem to vary and I'm not sure why, some colors are about $30 cheaper than other colors. Am I missing something?

Also had no idea they were in Kill Bill or any martial arts movies kek.
>>

>>
>>18654089
>>18654100
what about the nippon made ones?
>>
>>18654656
Most people associate Onitsuka Tiger Mexico 66, especially in yellow, with Bruce Lee and Kill Bill. Mexico 66 is going to be less durable regardless of the price level, because of the very structure of the shoe. It's sleek, has an extremely thin sole and the shoe upper protrudes outside the sole, meaning it's going to be the first thing that takes hit from pretty much anything. As I mentioned before, I had similarly-structured Puma Speedcats. Great for driving your car, very soft, you get good tactile experience, but no shock absorption. Good for indoor jobs, driving your car, not for walking outside, especially with harsh weather, especially with Puma suede. The first area getting torn through was near toes, then at the heel inside the shoe. I guess Mexico 66 is going to have similar problems.
