I got a new schott, it was nice, I worn it like 5 times, one day was heavy rain, just stood there for at least 10 minutes, it soaked, one arm started feeling heavier and just less soft than the other, I buy mink oil, apply it, it's full of white flakes now? Wtf do I do I wanna just end it right here
>>18652131Sorry dude, you almost certainly have ass cancer. Probably best to just end it
>>18652131Just whipe it off, retard. And use something like pecards to waterproof your jacket if you're going to be wearing it in the rain a lot.
>>18652131Just wipe it off with a damp rag and let it air dry completely. Brush it off with a horsehair brush like you'd use on leather shoes Afterward it might be a little stiff but just wear it and it will soften back up. It's a leather jacket and a Schott. They're pretty much indestructible. Bikers have been getting caught in the rain in their leather jackets for decades and been just fine No need to use any conditioners unless it looks and feels visibly dry
>>18652131you put mink oil on brown leather? why?
>>18652318because im retarded>>18652258>>18652276here are more pics, this is unwipeable, i try to wipe it with a damp cloth, i even added 50/50 vinegar, it curdles and flakes, and the mink oil becomes powdery, what the fuck man, and i don't want to add more fucking oil obviously
>>18654314Dumbass. Just leave it alone. Stop adding shit and stop putting fucking vinegar on it I'm 90% sure this is a troll thread so shame on me for even replying
opinion on this to waterproof the leather jacket?
>>18654314How the fuck do you do this, I clean my 10year old moto jacket with fucking Swarfega and people think I'm a retard, I'm not it is excellent and cheap.Drop of dishsoap warm water and a cloth should be enough to clean it, then literally any conditioning product, and any huge scuffs or scrapes can be touched with boot polish or left desu they add character
>>18654385Never used that one but nikwax in general are based, all their techwash and goretex DWR restorer etc is all I use on my textile Moto gear
>>18654377i wish i was trolling i swear to god>>18654402ill just try to find somewhere professional to wash it at this point or i'm gonna off me
>>18652131you've overconditioned to the point where the leather is pushing out the mink oil in white spots
>>18654314>>18654412what brand of """""""""""mink""""""""""" oil are you using
>>18652131stop cumming on your leather jacket anon
>>18652131Try to clean it with a soft leather cleaner or saddle soap. Do not overclean. Maybe 2 times or so.Then wear it until the mink oil fades on its own. Mink oil is extremely hard to get off. Here’s a few tips: DO NOT use mink oil or dubbin on anything else than hard work/military boots. Mink oil is extremely thick and can alter the leather. It’s not a conditioner. For leather jackets: use a light leather cleanser or mild saddle soap and a light conditioner with no shine like bick4. Do not apply too much.Only clean when dirty. Only condition when needed (leather gets matte, grey etc).
>>18652131>it's full of white flakes now? It's the mink oil coming out, you can use a cloth to rub it back in.Honestly you don't need to oil a jacket for 50 years.
>>18654485>>18654592ur right, i think it looks slightly better than it did 2 days ago when i applied the oil, and it's no longer as sticky, so i just give up, i'm gonna be wearing it every day and hopefully in a few weeks all the white cum will have gone away, the weather being cold doesn't help, it probably makes it harder for it to dry, thanks anons
>>18654987stop overconditioning your leathers
>>18654485dont use saddle soap either, it isnt some general purpose leather detergent
>>18652131A word of advice if you ever do more conditioning of jackets or boots or whatever The leather will absorb as much of the conditioner as it needs and then reject the rest. A good practice is always to condition, wipe away any excess and let it dry The white stuff you're seeing is the mink oil that didn't get absorbed and dried on the surface. Next time wipe it off. Always brush it when it's dry so you can heat it up and push it into the leather
