This thread offers a forum to discuss and debate wristwatches, pocket watches, and clocks. Several members here are highly knowledgeable in specified areas of horology, so please contribute to the thread by asking questions and/or asking for advice if you are planning on purchasing a watch from an AD or the grey market. Please post pics of your watches here; it doesn't matter if it's worth 5$ or 50000$, because there might be someone who wishes to eventually purchase the same model that you own and would love to hear some real-world advice regarding ownership. The experience matters the most, not the price.

Everyone is welcome in this thread, because we are all Frens here.

Is anyone familiar with this male or model? Mark Fairwhale FW-4460 Vecto.
I had never heard of this until last night, I was watching Aliens and looking up the watches the characters were wearing and this pops up. I’m intrigued but know absolutely nothing about this maker.

It caught my interest recently since it seems like with it you get something pretty close to what a MR-G is, but for a much lower price.

They left. There’s no point. Spending a couple minutes typing out a thoughtful response to an interesting question is pointless when everyone in the thread is pissed at the same four trolls’ low-effort spamposting.

It’s all part of the plan. Whoretadello thought he was going to be the main character forever, and got upset that people got tired of his repetitive posts.
Kofefag didn’t like that people called him fat when he tried posting a fit pic.
Bittercel has no watches at all and hates everyone almost as much as he hates himself.

The only reason this general continues is so the trolls can make sure that actual watch discussion doesn’t happen.

>>18663029
oh I will. and i dont have to pretend... it routinely creates coping and sneeding in these threads, see anon early citing reviewers (already lol) saying they 'regret' the prx for some reason.

the prx naturally creates haters because it is a swiss watch at an affordable price point. this flies in the face of shitterfags whos continued existence requires routinely justifying wearing 'boderry' or 'militado' pieces of shit on knockoff oyster bracelets or godless natos, due to possessing some 'spec monster' feature set they consider the swiss watches lacking or overcharging for. to them, swiss snobbery creates bad value, and the shitter faggots need to larp as if they are in the pursuit of value. it goes to the core of their very existence. furthermore, the prx features iconoclast styling, sizing, and bracelet design, this is the kind of bullshit youd expect from casio and to be accompanied by quartz, something watchfags could just ignore. but the inclusion of swiss automatic alongside quartz era styling creates a unique challenger to the foundation of submariner and oyster perpetual clones the entire watch market sits on top of.

basically the watch was created to annoy faggots. i was unaware of this feature before purchasing, and mildly delighted after discovering it.

This one is even better. $225. 34mm. Full titanium. They call it a "ladies" watch, but I don't see any reason for that. Plenty of mens watches in the same dimensions. And what kind of woman would wear this? I don't see women wearing anything but smartwatches anyway if they're under 60 years old.

That model just doesn't exist under Seiko, at any point in time. The Seiko logo is just stamped on with ink and it doesn't relate to any model, current or vintage, I'm aware of. You can look up discussion on these exact Seiko tanks online, lots of people buy them because they're cheap and look pretty good, and then they post them online and everyone tells them they're just using the Seiko name.

My old Seiko Presage died late last year (the motion was completely rusted out and Seiko don't produce it anymore, so getting it replaced is off the table). I miss it. I looked around, and found the Garden Line, which looks a lot like my old Presage except for the half-textured face. My issue is that all the black ones are fairly expensive (expensive for what they are and their condition), and also not in decent shape. Rust, scratches, etc. I hesitant to buy one and have it die within a year for the same reason (rusted out motion). Suggestions?
>inb4 "get a different brand"
No, this was my first actual watch, and so it meant something to me. I'm trying to replace like for like here, but it doesn't appear that Seiko is actively selling anything like the Garden Line still otherwise I'd just buy new, and I can't buy my another one of my old Presage's because it'd be about 20 years old now and likely all those are rusted out/dead as well.

I also have a follow up question about a different watch in the next post.
>>
>>18663163
Follow up:

I was looking for a watch with a face that was this exact color a couple of months ago, asked in the other watch thread and got ignored. I found one that looked decent (at least to me) through Chinkshit General and looking on Aliexpress. It's terrible at keeping time (it will lose 3+ hours per day), but it has the face color I want, and the features of a watch I want, and is the size I'd want (40-42mm). Do you guys know of any other watches that have this face color, these features, and doesn't lose time so tragically? I only spent a whopping $17 dollars on it, so it's not like I am hurting over here. I'll still use it for the time being, but if I can find something applicable that's not going to tell me it's 11 AM when it's nearly 4 PM, that'd be nice.

pic related is the only downside so far (only scraped on one of the shoes, I could fix it with a sharpie I guess). I wear them hard, on my motorcycles, in wet conditions, and often walking 10,000+ steps a day. I've always had filthy disgusting sneakers and I do not give a shit about cleaning or preserving them. All the leather parts are still immaculate though, it's a very high quality shoe. Something to note is that all the stitching is 100% intact, which wouldn't be the case if I was still buying adidas shoes. Also they're by far the most comfortable shoes I own. The more I wear them, the better they get. They've molded to my feet, but like I said before they were uncomfortable for the first month. They have to last 7 times longer than a pair of Adidas sneakers to justify the cost, and we're well into the "second life cycle" already. If you're like me and you're sure this is your style, I highly recommend them.
Also since the inside of the shoe is leather, I haven't worn any holes into what is normally shitty soft fabric.

I see. Thanks for the detailed response. I will probably buy them because I usually rotate between three sneakers and one has melted after 3 years of abuse.
Because of the dialtaily life here, I walk at least 5km daily. At the very least. So it's nice to hear that they will hold up even without care.
But about that, I would recommend you to get a "sneaker erases" to clean it, a dedicated cleaning foam and some grease. I mean look at them, they look like new. Took a while to clean and care but it's worth it.
Some creasing is inevitable though.

not sure what to think of these. when there are so many at the same price. why would this be? scam like the indian seikos? or just a surplus of a watch that was never expensive in the first place but has a big name?
>>
>>18663232
They could be super clones purchased off Alibaba. Not sure why you'd buy super clones of those things though, unless the ppu was extremely low and they're flipping them for double/triple/quadruple the price. That might sound scum baggy, but virtually everything you buy on Amazon these days that isn't a name brand is literally just a drop shipper. You can find the same exact item on Ali/Temu for far less almost without fail. Sometimes even better items.
>>
>>18663244
what you you mean the same exact item? vintage oris on ali? i don't really know what drop shipping is, just that it's some kind of shady watch dealer thing
i don't trust anything now
looks like i'm stuck buying brand new from company website to be sure
>>
>>18663248
As in it looks precisely the same, down to the way it keeps time. You could wave a super clone under the nose of just about anyone and they'll fidget at being able to tell you the difference unless you let them open it up. Not all super clones are equal though. I have posted several super clone Rolexs I own on here over the last year and not a single person has called me out.
>What is drop shipping?
It's effectively rent seeking. You go on Amazon and buy an item on there, unless it's a known brand and you are buying from that Brand's store, you are buying from a drop shipper. They don't do anything but set up their listings on Amazon, and then use their contact overseas to get the product here, from there they hire out contractor based shipping companies to move the product. Think Uber but for your shit from Amazon. Gofo is one of the largest. A drop shipper takes an item you can buy on Ali/Temu for $5 bucks and sells it for $25, $35, $50, whatever they feel they can get away with. They are banking on you not looking at who is selling the product, nor looking to see if the same product is on either of those sites. Drop shipping is so common even brand names do it now. Unrelated to watches, there is brand called Bambu, and they are regarded as the Apple of 3D Printers. They basically set the trend for the rest of the industry and the price points. If you buy a part from them? Drop shipped. You buy filament? Drop shipped. You buy basically anything from them that isn't a large piece of hardware, you can bet your ass it was drop shipped. I've placed orders directly from them that have been split into five separate deliveries from three different courier services. And this is /the Apple/ of 3D printers. There is an upside to all this; they'll make you whole if something weird happens, and they take their actual hardware very seriously to the point that they will tell you like twenty times not to throw out the box to your 90kg printer.

What makes this a kids' watch and who'd pay $300 for a watch for a kid?

>who'd pay $300 for a watch for a kid?
Any lower middle class parents, that's not an insane amount of money for a teen's watch.
If it was a Tissot PRX or something, not that watch.
>>
>>18662634
Kek
>>
>>18663257
A teen is not a kid. A kid is a child. Do you really think that's the same thing? If a watch is marketed as a "Kids Watch", no self-respecting teen would want it. And lower middle class? I don't know about that. We were middle class and my dad wouldn't have entertained the idea of a $300 watch. He matched me when I wanted to buy a $300 camera, but he was a Timex and Casio kind of guy and any time I tried to get more than $50 for shoes or anything I was quickly shut down.
No teenager should have a stupid PRX. They're irresponsible. And they don't appreciate shit like that anyway unless they have a watch freak dad and they're the one teen who thinks dad is cool. This is 2026. Old Jomashop watches are years-old misfires anyway.
I went back and checked and answered my own question. It's that it's made from plastic and rubber. That is what makes it a kids watch.
Thanks for using it as an opportunity to get the PRX name out there again. I'm sure eventually you can convince yourself it was worth the money.

>>
>>18663252
I'm not against the idea of giving a younger kid a relatively expensive watch, but the only thing I can figure is it's plastic? It's some kind of polymer or something right? So it's light and if it gets wet and other bullshit maybe that's better. But I'd rather just have steel watches on rubber or cloth straps.

What do you mean? How am I being any of those things. I’m complimenting your watch. Hell, I’d even like to buy one but, as you correctly pointed out, it causes nothing but coping and seething.

What if I were to take a really cool pic of my PRX? I couldn’t post it, because of all the coping and seething. It would derail the thread.

Every single person who posts a watch pic has to take some shit. Every time. Posters know this, but everyone seems to believe they’ll be the exception to the rule. That they’ll be the one where everyone will be like “gigabased chad!!1” or something else stupid.

It’s simple. If you don’t want to get shit on, don’t post your watch. Post pics from the internet if you want to discuss a watch. If you can handle banter and you want people to roast you, go ahead and post your watch. But stop fucking bitching about people being bitter, you sound like women with BPD.

I went to the mall today and checked out some shitters.
In person watches like Seiko and Orient look way worse compared to online pictures.
They get mogged into oblivion by San Martin and other chink watches that cost the same, or usually 50% of the price of these toy shitters.

I remember that one guy who occasionally used to say
>seiko's mineral glass > chinese sapphire
XDDDDDDDDDDD. Bro, you can see and feel the difference. The chinese sapphire actually feels premium, sorry to say it.

You really can't be a brandfag and a shitterfag at the same time. It just doesn't work.
If you want to simp for luxury watches, go for it. But branded shitters are literal trash, it is insane.

It baffles me how many fancy watches are tagged "for women". It hurts sales and drives away potential customers. Casio has some really good ideas like a digital A1000 featuring a mother of pearl dial and and a mini 2100 G- Shock with a textless metal bezel shaped into a wave- like pattern. I would be amazed if any woman ever purchased it for herself. I had a nightmare with finding a 36mm mechanical dress watch I would like, because anything smaller than a satellite dish lands in women category.

Just ignore it. If it's not fucking pink it doesn't matter.
I bought this ladies watch because it's identical to the mens but 3mm smaller. It looks better at this size. And it was a little cheaper too. Win-win. The smart companies are putting "unisex" on their midsize watches. Especially as the trends are turning back to smaller watches and most collectors and watch enthusiasts (Apple watches excepted) are men anyway.
I also browse watches and wonder who's wearing all the ladies watches. I figure watch freaks buy them for their wives and girlfriends hoping they can share the hobby.
>>
>>18663906
thanks i will. the playful and classic 35mm size really makes it a special watch when the industry has been pushing bigger for so long with most releases, and now with trends facing smaller dress watches it seems almost forward thinking, its a little bit don draper, with the quartz period styling keeping it modern, youthful. there's a lot left to write about the tissot prx so i will ensure i post as often as possible with my thoughts.

I'm thinking about getting a ceramic bezel insert for it, which would have the full triangle pip.

https://wraccessories.com/products/sub-ceramic-sloped-bezel-insert-for-mdv-106a-mdv-107a-green

I do really like the color and tone of the stock bezel, though.

If you think it's worth doing and you'd enjoy it, go for it.
If you wanna go deeper, you could also add a sapphire crystal.
>>
>>18664553
I think I will eventually. On their website, Long Island Watch has double domed sapphires with AR coating and a stainless steel replacement for the aluminum bezel rim, I'm probably going to get both soon, along with the ceramic bezel insert. I'm still deciding if I want to go with the steel bracelet LIW has though, and which one. They have oyster and jubilee bracelets, both in stainless and two-tone steel/gold, I'm not sure which one I would go for in either case.

I will polish this turd eventually and we'll see how it turns out.

Bracelets do look good on these watches, but I found mine to be uncomfy, so I took it off and use nato or parachute straps instead.
Sacrificed aesthetics for comfort.
>>
>>18664557
It's actually the opposite for me, I find bracelets to be more comfortable. NATO straps tend to be smooth enough to where my wrist gets chafed by the constant shifting back and forth over the course of the day, while the steel tends to sit on a certain spot once it warms up to my skin.
>>
>>18664512
>I can only hope one day someone will fill their boots..
the environment of this thread is not suitable for a new “all-star” to show up, as you put it.
The old guys showed up when there was still discussion. It was only 20% spam and trolling. (Back then, it was mostly “can’t afford a Rolex?”)
In that 80% remaining was discussion and guys felt free to chat, accepting a little shitposting as the cost of being on a free-speech board.
Now, this thread is close to 90% raw sewage. Why would anyone want to show up here and make it their home?

Just think about it. The shitter collector is the most recent “known” poster and he only lasted about a week posting in good faith before he just devolved into a pure troll.

The change occurred during Whoretadello’s famous fight with the mods for constant ban evasion. He thought he was going to war against the mods but the battlefield was this general and the constant shitposting just snowballed to everyone else.
>>
>>18664592
For me nato slides as well if I do 2 layers under the watch.
For some reason 1 layer u der watch, and 2 layers on the opposite side of the wrist works.

Also parachute straps can be extremely comfy due to their elasticity and softness, they also stick to the wrist better than nato.
Sadly not many brands and websites sell them. The cheap ones are 50/50 to be comfy or not, so there is that.
Also you need to remove spring bars every time you are changing this strap, unlike nato, which can lead to lug scratches over time if you are not careful.

i am once again wearing the tissot prx. needless to say this choice will generate much coping and seething, at 35mm, this tasteful, understated size really brings a new perspective to an ostentatious industry. there is something to be said for smaller steel sports watches, there's something don draper about, unlike the 45mm dinner plates we've been sold for so long, a sheen of three martini lunches and industry, a time long past, along with the strange angles and well made integrated bracelet creating a very pleasing retro pastiche.

I’d just like to interject for a moment. What you’re referring to as bittercel/shittercel/lowercasecel, is in fact, avatarfags/bittercel, or as I’ve recently taken to calling it, avatarfags x bittercel. Bittercel has nothing to contribute by himself, he finds meaning and a reason for posting in these threads through avatarfags.

Many posters fits the criteria as a modified bittercel without even realizing it. My case in point “lowercase” anon (-cel). Through a peculiar turn of events, this bittercel variant is also referred to as shittercel, by unaware anons, who forget it’s avatarfagging if watches are being posted. Hence further affirming my avatarfags x bittercel interpretation.

There really is an original bittercel or revercocel x bittercel, as one might call it, but version of bittercel is obsolete upon the departure of reversecol. The bittercel is useless by itself, it can only work in the context of avatarfags as a fully integrated shitposting system. The whole thread is basically avatarfags with bittercel layered between them.

>cel cel cel cel cel

This is all in your fucking head. You can't actually tie any of these "personalities" to any posts. What the fuck is any of this nonsense about? Are these even separate people or just one guy arguing with himself?
And all of you calling anything you don't like "trolling". I get excited that there are 50 new posts in a watch thread and then find out it's not about watches, it's again about people who USED TO post watches. Hahahaha!

Well, I hear the mail truck outside. You know what that means. I won't "spam" this watch thread with watches though. Because when I do it it's "trolling". "Spamming" my "shitters". One pic of the box and one pic on the wrist of each watch. How fucking excessive. No one cares about $140 watches if the purchaser previously bought some $5 watches as a goof. He should be reported!

>>18664701
And look at this guy. Openly admitting he "attacks" me. WTF?

I don't see how anything I've done has been bad for a board like this. So many of you have such bad attitudes and more than one of you are bitter.
For the most part I keep to my own thread, and still you're over here bitching about me. Just WHAT exactly is the problem?
Note that I'm writing all this on an essentially dead thread. Because while I do want to know, I don't want to piss anyone off.
You just can't win in a place like this. Anger and misery abound.
You're all bitter and I'm getting SOUR.
A new watch will cheer me up! hahaha
>>
>>18664854

There's something magically autistic about this general. People that post watches get called avatarfags for sharing what they actually own. Everyone else gets called some type of -cel for having literally any type of opinion while not posting a watch.

It's projection. Only celibate losers themselves would call anyone "-cel".
As for the rest there's just no balance. There are the 2 or 3 people who post the same photos of the same watches over and over. I don't get the point of that. It's OCD on their part I guess.
And I don't think people need to post watches all the time, but I want to know what you have if you call my collection garbage. The superior-acting Rolex fanboys need to have Rolexes I think if they're going to tell me my watch sucks because it's not a Rolex. I just don't understand the motivation to be assholes here. How does it make them feel good or better to be unkind?
I know they must be going through some hard times to treat people as they do. But it's hard to feel sympathy for them if I'm a target.

Here's a watch I want. I try to post a watch I want or a watch I have without overdoing either.

I've decided to sell my green dial Tissot PRX powermatic 80 for this Beaucroft Element I stumbled across by random chance. I managed to secure a buyer at a sale price a little higher than what I initially bought the PRX for, so that's helpful. The Element is $650 after discounts so I have to fork over $200 after the $450 I sold the PRX for.

I really can't wait for this to arrive, it's everything I want from a sporty green dial watch on a steel bracelet for work, along with some of the best dial design I've seen on a watch. I love everything about it, and the bracelet looks top notch (although we'll have to actually see if it holds up on wrist).

Only thing I don't like is the 42 hour power reserve, but it has good accuracy at least. The PRX was nice but I didnt like the lack of micro-adjustment on it, it only had half-links as an option to get a better fit, and the sharp corners of the bracelet would sometimes dig into my skin in an annoying way.

It ships March 10th so I'll probably have it in 1-2 weeks. Fingers crossed it makes it without issue.
>>
>>18665670
Yes, that's a step up from the PRX. I'd wear your new one.
You don't like the 42 hours of power because it's not enough?

What does this even mean? Why is the concept of "beginner X" so prevalent in online hobby discussion when it doesn't make any sense?
We're not talking about an exercise program where you need to build up strength before moving to more advanced workouts. We're not talking about a musical instrument where you have to build up skills. We're talking about wearing a watch. You don't have to learn how to do that. Just look at a lot of watches and buy one that you like.
