Which would be still fine for the most of Casios. My AW80-1AV works well after years of rain and close encounters with rocks and metal handrails, my AQ230 survived a lot of brawls.
>>18676348Bro Ibe invented the G-Shock exactly because he broke his mechanical watch and was fed up with it.

I don't expect you to believe me, but I personally make over four times the max for "lower middle class," and my household income is even more than that. They are not supposed to be pretty or classy at all, just functional and durable with no nonsense. Basically the pickup truck of watches. If they were trendy at some point that is just because it is trendy. At some point recently IIRC striped polos were in. And barrel pants. I didn't and won't give a shit if something is in style or not if it makes you look like a ten year old wearing it and striped polos etc are that. Are G-shocks that? No but they do look like a shitty watch for kids, even though they absolutely are not. As for me I don't have any unusual tastes, I like Seikos and Tags etc like any rando. I don't dislike Rolexes but the prices running away on them make me just roll my eyes. A watch shouldn't cost more than a car unless it was platinum and studded with diamonds etc which I mean does happen too, it's just more of a jewelry piece at that point to me however.

>>18676287G-shocks enter that weird territory for me where unless you are doing some sort of extreme sports/activity, the question is always why? Even if the watch breaks on you, is not knowing the time going to fuck you? Unless you are doing a week/month long foreign trip or scuba diving, etc. Not knowing the time for a day trip is a nothingburger. If you are like >>18676508 and claim they are “cheap”, then why not go for a f-91w? They are sturdy watches that can take a beating, and if you are so active/adventurous that you bust through 5-10 of them in one lifetime…then sure, the g-shock was probably right for you. And congrats for surviving all of your wicked adventures. Its when I see guys own multiple g-shocks and wear them to their office job where I just sort of roll my eyes at the larp. At least with something like a Garmin, it is clearly a fashion statement/money flex as well as a larp.

G-Shocks are literally the Glock pistols of the watch world. They are a no nonsense practical tool that is for actual workers such as myself (warehousing). They just work. Plain and simple. No need for updates or having to charge the battery like in smartwatches. There are people out there who still have the 1980s version of the DW-5600 square watch and they still work as the day they bought it (battery swap of course). Wearing a watch for status and shine is for pure fucking losers who are the true larpers of society.

It's okay to own something just because you think it's cool, even if you've never going to fully utilize it's ability or use case. As someone with both a G-shock and actual mechanical watch I personally think it's really nice to have a watch that I can mow the yard in, or go to the gym with, or go on a hike and sweat on it and not have to worry about if it's going to be okay through that stuff. Sometimes it's nice to have overbuilt things you can use everyday and not have to stress over every door jam or desk edge you accidently banged your watch into. Will a $20 FW91 also survive those things? Probably, but it's nice to know that it's not even a question with the G-shock.

The people who really like them over more sophisticated watches either see them as a better tool than a mechanical, or they enjoy a chunky and rugged looking watch, They are also a low hanging fruit, you get no disrespect while wearing one and are inexpensive. I bought this Baby G around 2001, having no idea about watches. It is cumbersome to set the time and date due to the built-in crown guard. The 80's-90's themed integrated bullbars (original color was light grey but oxidized to yellow) keep the removable bezel in place but also visually block the hour markers. >>18676287I have no clue what you're talking about. No one has ever mentioned anything about my gshock. I wake up knowing I need a watch that's going to survive all the bs I'm gonna encounter at work and so I put it on. That's about it.

>>18716056I am convinced that these will be considered classics in the long run
>>18716056These are so ugly, I love them.
I like my G-Shock because I wear it when I play soccer and lacrosse and am out hiking or fishing. I would not wear it to work or even to class though.
i got my bx5600 finally. i'm american so had to order off ebay, first one got lost (stolen) by DHL then after like 2 weeks of customer service back and forth, ordered the same watch again and got it this timeit's really nice, the MIP display is much better than i expected. normally just wear a 5000u but i think this one might be my new go to watchit's too bad there's not a 5000u but with MIP display because that'd be the perfect watch i think
How is it that they try every possible color and shape combination available in this universe, but nothing yet surpasses the DW5600 and DW5000?
>>18716482It’s a perfect and timeless design. No different than the Rolex Explorer. A century from now people will still be wearing them most likely.
>>18716594That’s for sure
>>18676287The cute girl at the USPS saw me wearing my hiking clothes with my g-shock and a fresh haircut and her eyes lit up. When I am 16% body fat I give myself permission to ask her out.
>>18703420>So you actually admit you're a white person with an inexplicable obsession with Japanese culture??Despite what some terminally online retard may have told you, there is absolutely no shame in that.
>>18676287>thinkpads>memesThanks to /g/ I've been rocking used thinkpads since 2013. it just werksI think most g-shocks are clunky and ugly. I currently rock the Casio A168WEMB-1BV
>>18685983Based i also have a Nardi wheel and a dw-6900>>18696817i have both and the dw-6900 looks 10 times better, at first i hated how bulky it was but it grew on me and now i can't live without it i wear it 24/7I put it on a classic green/yellow MN strap and it looks extremely cool and its comfy as fuck
>>18718106good choice, is the mesh good or is there something bad about it?
I am a chef and I wear my G-shock at work. Any other time I wear my automatic Seiko. The G-shock can get oil splattered on it from cooking and I dont care. If I had an apple watch I would be worried about it getting wet or dirty. And I would never wear a nice automatic in a kitchen. The Digital read out of the G-shock is perfect for when you are working and checking the time often for timing things.
>>18718319I was surprised at how much I liked the mesh band. So far I've only had hair pulled out from the screws on the back plate, but the band is pretty rigid and clasp way better compared to a stock A168. I really like it.
OP here. I still didn't buy a watch. Not sure what to get
>>18718106I think Dell is better. They come with ethernet ports
>>18718346I use digital- analogs as GMT. Digital display for precise local time, hands for the primary time.
Very tough watches that aren’t g-shocks?
>>18718690Buy a g shock 5600 spevial editipn or a 5610u
If you are doing any kind of work having a G-shock is probably the best idea. Or if you are doing some kind of active sport. You dont wanna wear your nice watch when doing these activites because you are probably going to get it dirty or hit it on something and scratch the nice watch. That is the entire point of the G-shock. It can take the hits / bumps and works. No having to worry or be careful. Some guys might not have to do any work or sports at all, they just pay people to mow their lawn etc. So they might not even need the G-shock. But a real working man will find it useful.
>>18676287put all g shock in trash k thx
>>18676287If they released a Tough Solar DW-6600 tomorrow, I would throw money at Casio.
G shocks are S tier. Good quality watches that can take a beating. They are utility watches not flex watches like rolex
Based G king>>18677638Only thing I dont like is the Bluetooth shit. I dont want Bluetooth in a watch. It was annoyingly slow to set the date manually and im not downloading some cancer app to set my fucking watch. My other GODshock has solar and atomic time. The atomic timekeeping is goated its literally always precisely accurate. The luxury watch fags are basically fountain pen collectors for watches, the automatic watches are inferior in accuracy and performance, they lose time and they need constant movement to keep working otherwise they desync. They are very fragile and the movements can break from magnets or impacts.
>>18720664>Only thing I dont like is the Bluetooth shit. I dont want Bluetooth in a watch.i felt the same way but i got a bx5600 recently that has bluetooth and it's so convenient for the time setting. i live in the US so i can get multiband 6, but it never registers in my apartment, so i have to use a phone app to do the radio signal. but with bluetooth just open the app once every few days, press one button on the watch, 2 seconds later it's set and i'm done.that being said i did not like that the default setup is for the watch to try to pair to your phone 4 times a day to set the time, i turned that off and just do it manually now.
Wow the projection.>>18676287
>>18720586not gw6900?
>>18721332NTA but I really don't like how the solar version of the 6900 doesn't let you see the time on stopwatch and countdown modes. They updated the non-solar versions to do just that, but not on the GW's.
>>18690261f91w is for lean and mean terrorists and gshocks are for bloated doughnut eating counter terrorists simple
why don't the put one of those ratcheting rings that are sometimes on analog 'diver' watches on digital watches so when you setting the countdown timer or alarm etc you don't press the buttons to change numbers you turn the dial
>>18717089Love an upgraded strap on an F-91W
>>18721332What about the GW-6900?
>>18676290that's just cope but responding to OP>>18676287some people don't pretend, they just want to be practical with getting the time out of a death trap device like phones, that's all, not liking fashion, and can even be considered a statement.>>18717089>they fill a niche no other watch really does. that's the thing. if i tried to wear some vintage style field watch bouldering or my meat packer friend tried to wear a rolex to work we'd fuck those thing up.this is also cope, if you can afford a rolex you can afford a good homage and they won't break easily, and if you care for wasting a $500 watch you're not rich, you can get good homages for like $200
>>18676287I have always hated watch-as-jewelry culture. multi-band solar g-shock is everything I would want in an actual watch.
Does anyone know what it is about Casio watches (including G shocks of course) that makes people seethe and freak out like this guy: >>18678021
>>18722625If something exists, there is someone out there who will hate it.
>>18722639thank you.
>>18722625they’re for tech boy dweebs of the past now they all wear smart watches unless they want to LARP as OG hacker boys or military dad types wear them
>>18722653hahahaha. I love my casio watches! And I'm so curious, what watches do you suggest one should purchase and wear?
>>18722658desu in 2026 a smart watch i have developed a fetish for these antique chronographs though
>>18722661Interesting. We don't see eye to eye about that but I appreciate your sharing your opinion. Antique chronograph? That might be fun.
>>18722663sexo
>>18722606a rolex would look so goofy on me lets be honest.

Very gay thread
Doom Guy's watch
>>18726129Are you just posting that in all the watch threads?
I posted it in one of the other 300 watch threads, but since this one is casio related I’ll post it here as well.If you have a bluetooth G-Shock, there’s an open source G-Shock app that lets you pull events from your Google Calendar into your watches reminders feature. It’s privacy focused unlike Casio’s official app which is super invasive.>>18725217There’s also a web app that lets you control your watch, so you don’t even need to download anything onto your phone.>>18725228
Can you wear a Gshock as a dress watch
>>18726335
>>18726335Why not?
G shocks are like the pocket protector of watches. The same people who go nuts for a PC case. It’s nerdy-coded.
