After lengthy discussions with my watch mentor and self analysis I've come to the conclusion that all watches are shitters.Yes, ALL watches. Your Rolex is a shitter because you overpaid for outdated brand slop. Even your Casio is a shitter, but at least it's cheap. You may think this seems depressing and defeatist, but it's no use trying to argue against logic. For me, this revelation ties horology to something called positive nihilism; nothing really matters and that's a good thing! You can do whatever you want, go anywhere you dare, eventually you'll still end up in the same place. This way of thinking has led me on a true path of discovery in horology. I am not seeking status recognition, I'm not trying to impress anyone, I am simply following my heart, buying what I truly want and I'll continue doing so till the day my short stay on this ball of dirt is over. All watches are shitters, and that's a good thing.
>>18677353>Your budget$15k>Preferred brand or manufacturenone>Watch type, e.g. dress, diver, pilot, etcWould prefer something somewhat versatile, sporty or a dressy sort of watch that can still be worn casually. Not a dive watch>Movement, e.g. automatic, hand-wound, quartz, etcHand wound or automatic>Desired features, e.g. water resistance, day/date, chronograph, etcA dial that's more legible than busy, a moonphase would be cool, I also like the look of small seconds. But I'm not looking for anything in particular here, just something that shows off quality/skilled watchmaking and design.>Preferred strap option, e.g. leather, nylon, bracelet, etcPrefer bracelet or leather>Wrist size or desired watch size6.5" wristI'm considering a used Breguet 7147 and a Glashutte Original Panomatic/Senator. In a few weeks I'm gonna go to check those out at ADs, anything else I should look at? Either those same brands or others.
>>18677373A lot a watches will fit your criteria. There are a lot of japanese watches that fit the "versatile between dressy and sporty" look. Grand Seiko, Bunkyo Tokyo. Since you like that Breguet maybe look at a used Blancpain villeret, maybe the quantieme complet (18k new), they have the best moonphase imo. Longines Ultra-chron (not the diver version). Omega Milano Cortina, there's a /wt/ anon who has a gold one, it's very nice. You've got a lot of room to work with in that budget. Zenith elite? I'd probably go for the Blancpain, the movement finishing is really nice as well. The only thing that turned me off them is how boring the dials are irl, they're super flat with no subtle texture or luster. If picrel is too busy then they have villeret models with fewer complications. Good luck anon.
>>18677353Fuck off, 'kofe' guy. No one would welcome you but you.
>>18677386Incel please. The whole thread can't accommodate just your needs!
The Explorer is really too good brehs. I’m deep in the honeymoon phase. The finishing is really nice and the angles mixed with curvature is well done. The oyster bracelet also deserves its praise.I’m just not sure if my buckle is centered… the AD removed two links from the same 6 o clock side rather than one from each side. It’s kind of bothering me now. I may have it adjusted. Is the buckle supposed to be in the middle of your wrist or more towards the right?
>>18677402just a small tip, skip pocari sweet and get OS1 instead. It's actually healthy and has only 2% sugar instead of the 7% on the pocari. You can find them at drugstores for ¥216
>>18677356Did Rexhep copy this or did they copy him, or is this an older design?
>>18677402Whenever i got my watches sized they would always remove links jut from one side, so that the curve on the clasp catches on the 'edge' of your wrist and keeps it in place.
>>18677380Thanks for the suggestions, specifically the Blancpain villeret I'll have to check out.
I love citizen attesa
>>18677403I didn’t fucking ask, faggot.
>>18677447Bittarutaruderoceru.
>>18677402The buckle should be wherever is most comfortable. It usually takes a few tries to get it perfect between removing links/adding links/setting a baseline for the micro-adjustment.

>>18677806Interesting, certified chronometer and way more information about the watch and movement than Cartier gives you on their respective websites, apparently LV has more respect/love for watch enthusiasts. I almost like it but the letters on the outside of the bezel kind of ruins it for me, and idk how I feel about the numerals. Cool suggestion that I'd never heard of before though, thanks.
>>18677813I haven't looked it up but last I looked they don't make a watch cheaper than $80k, so when you're asking that much for a watch you better have some pretty good information on what people are paying for.Cartier is like "yeah, $10k for a tank. It has a quartz movement. You're not buying it for the movement, lets be honest."
>>18677814you can find it ever so slightly used for 9Knew they go 18K iirc.>>18677813the only "problem" I see with the watch, or at least, a glaring compromise, is that it's not free-sprung. Which should be the norm on anything above 3K
If I get a Citizen The Citizen, with the washi blue dial, will I become as big of a sad meme as Kofe-poster? I am slightly drunk and have my finger hovering over the 'order now' button.
>>18677820I saw it up close and, it sadly isn't as nice as you might think irl. The case is extremely light though. Granted, I didn't spend much time with it and I don't want to discourage you from buying one, but I was a bit disappointed. It's like one of those "Never meet your heroes" kind of thing.
>>18677821
>>18677821Thanks Anon, I will sleep on it. I am interested because I don't have a good blue-faced watch and I like the idea of the set-it-and-forget-it solar powered accurate forever idea. But your pictures give me a little bit of pause, so I will think on it a little while. Cheers!
>>18677830apologies again for being so direct. It's not ugly by any means, it just lacked (in my subjective opinion) that "oomph" or that "wow" effect that's very crucial for buying a watch. If you're on the fence even a little bit, it means you don't really want it. It didn't click with me, but your tastes might differ.afaik, it's a limited edition, 500 worldwide. Also, you're right, having to set a watch once and forget about it for literally 20 years+ is a huge bonus. The specs are there to justify the price.

Why are these threads actively bumped to page one on purpose and constantly updated?

after much deliberation, I considered buying the GW-5000HS-1 as my one and only watch, but then I reconsidered because the plastic of the strap may seep into my skin and affect fertility and lifespan negatively
>>18677922To be entirely fair, they did try to create a non-fren thread where watches could actually be discussed but it was pretty viciously sabotaged. But you still can’t discuss watches here either. That’s why all the frens with great collections left and we’re just left with the dregs.

It arrived, finally. I couldn't be happier, it's everything I hoped it would be and more now that I have it in person. Stunning dial, completely clear crystal with zero glare, perfect solid link bracelet that's so comfortable, clasp is beautiful and has quick adjustment. I just can't stop marveling at it.

I'm gonna write an SAT test, the only allowed time keeping device is a a fucking analog clock - should I take the gatespill and duromaxx? Haven't worn a watch in ages
