Any good ideas for animated (or not) home decor objects? Looking for something that looks aesthetically sophisticated.
For example I like Newton's cradles, hourglasses etc... Something vintage or retro would also work.

something like the newton's craddle or a hourglass would do.

Nothing sophisticated about any of that shit.

It’s 2026 dude. Stop trying to look “sophisticated” with a hourglasses like you’re a 13th century scholastic you spastic. Just be fucking normal.

But how else will I be able to tell when an hour has passed? My sun dial doesn’t work indoors.

Collecting Victorian-era baubles and trinkets doesn't make you "interesting" or "sophisticated" because it's just playing pretend. Those items' aesthetic comes from symbolizing the character and history of the owner, you can get all the vintage tools you want so your room looks like an "muh american gothic tool shed" and it looks like garbage if you don't know how to use them.
Are you actually deeply interested in astronomy enough to put a telescope next to your window or did you just see it in an anime once? What precise, repeated production process would you need to control by using an hourglass to make sure it runs for a specific time span? Are you a physics professor that can actually explain the working principle behind a Newton's cradle, even though it's a toy that doesn't serve a practical purpose?
Go get some steampunk funko pops or a live laugh love sign if you like dust collectors that much.
I don't mean to be derisive and overly brash but I believe you are missing the point.
