Not the worst idea ever, but you should be sure enough of your choice not to ask for suggestions.Find out what style you like and look for artists in your area who do that style.Also consider whether or not you are fine with the style being trendy vs classic since it will be on you forever (traditional vs abstract vs black and grey realism etc). Do you want bold lines and a flat look or lots of shading with a realistic look? Do some instagram browsing and get inked from a reputable artist or shop.

I agree that the pinnacle of tattoo icons look cool but for 90% of people, their tattoos make them look worse. I know a lot of people who were late tattoo getters and they look like trash and aren't edgy at all anymore.
