You have to buy directly from the brands own store just to not get a counterfeit now.

i dont think anyone is making fake calvin klein 3 packs of t shirts
>>
>>18683066
If you're being serious: they do. They make fakes of literally everything, even stuff like value packs of Fruit of The Loom underwear. That's why reviews always say stuff like "these seem way shittier than the ones i got a few years ago" and people saying flat out that they think they're fakes.
>>
>>18683072
even if you buy from the store everything has had a drastic decline in quality though
>>
>>18683077
yeah at least you don't have to worry about buying something you think is a deal but it's literally just a fake. There's multiple ways this happens.

Amazon for example does "commingling" where they literally mix third party seller inventory with their own Sold By Amazon inventory, which invites counterfeit items and it's a huge issue to them. Coincidentally they "ended" this practice last month but who knows if they're serious and how long it will take to be really done.

Then there are a lot of seeminly normal stores that are effectively outlets/discount stores. Famous Footwear for example is a discount store. Brands make cheaper shittier versions of their products specifically for these stores and give no indication that they're cheaper shittier products. There's no way to know if you don't have the real version to compare it to.
>>
>>18683079
i think the success of 'factory' stores like famous footwear with identical products of lower quality sold by brands is why they just went ahead and made everything shit. normal shit you could buy at target or walmart or whatever, packs of socks, under shirts, etc has all gotten so absolutely terrible
>>
>>18683082
yeah but the brands website/brick&mortar store sells the real thing. Also there are supposedly real stores that aren't discount or outlet or factory stores. Like Foot Locker apparently doesn't sell that shit, but who really knows anymore.

other people have talked about this stuff: https://www.reddit.com/r/femalefashionadvice/comments/e8ubzj/list_of_stores_that_sell_made_for_discount/
>>
>>18682997
If the counterfeit is that good at fooling me, then it's probably just as good as the real thing.
>>
>>18683246
you wouldn't really know unless you bought the same exact thing from the brand website or went to their store and compared them.
>>
>>18683066
They make fakes of everything now, because it's basically free money.
>>
>>18682997
This is why you only buy clothes made in Japan by trusted flannel and selvedge merchants.

Workwear chuds we win again.
>>
If you can't tell if something is fake, then it doesn't matter.
>>
>>18683809
I was thinking about this and isn't Etsy, like a local maker, better than really anything else? They're basically selling for the cost to make it + some measly sum, and there's no faking it or anything because it's not a brand anyway. It's all about build quality at that point.
>>
>>18683246
>>18683822
This is such a retarded take.
>>
>>18682997
You have to order online to get anything that isn't chink made plastic trash
>>
>>18682997
I'm not going to buy anything worth counterfeiting, on account of I'm not a nigger.
>>
>>18683830
Can you explain why?
>>
>>18683830
If there's no difference then it's the same as buying the original. Two things that are the same, are the same. Very easy to understand this concept, anon.
>>
>>18683839
>>18683840
real brands have actual QC and follow regulations that fakes do not at all. they could be made of fucking lead or stored in a hazardous waste warehouse or something lol

not to mention it will not be the same quality. that's the point. it costs less to make. you are being scammed.
>>
>>18683832
Everything is faked now, even the dumbest cheapest things.
>>
>>18683851
>real brands have actual QC
No, they don't. That hasn't been true in a very long time, especially Italian garbage. Not to mention that there isn't any reason to store clothing around lead in a fucking clothing factory. This is the same scaremongering shit the big brands do. Granted, I don't buy lookalikes or even branded stuff, but you're clearly drinking the kool aid.
>>
>>18683853
The reason is that it's cheap. Nice regulated and clean facilities cost money.
>>
>>18683853
what do you buy, random etsy stuff?
>>
>>18683851
You know what, yeah good point.
>>
>>18683859
A mix of local shops and imports. There's a place near my hipster ass town that makes good denim jeans by hand. I don't know where they source their materials, but it's decently cheap and feels nice. I import boots, shoes, shirts, and for my suits, I have a MTM tailor and a local shop do the suit. Is it expensive? Yeah, but it's cheaper than buying big brand stuff, and I look the way I want to. I have a single brand-name coat, and that's a trench coat that I bought in Japan about thirteen years ago.
>>
>>18683866
So everything you buy is some handmade non-branded thing or an import(whatever that means)? What about basic stuff like underwear, socks, undershirts?
>>
>>18683839
>>18683853
*coats the clothes you're about to buy in a shitload of formaldehyde because it's a cheap preservative and we hold no accountability because we're a random warehouse in a third world country*
>>
>>18682997
I just buy from ali express so I can get the chinese shit directly
>>
>>18684052
>So everything you buy is some handmade non-branded thing
Pretty much.
>What about basic stuff like underwear, socks, undershirts?
I buy Chinese cottong shirts and underwear from Amazon. Some Chinese undershirts are very nice. I have also worn skillcraft underwear, and those weren't bad.

Grim.
>>
>>18684202
You show me someone selling a 10oz cotton shirt that doesn't cost more than $30 and I may even try it.
>>
>>18684206
why do you want a 10oz? that's really heavy for a t-shirt. i can barely find any in general

i found some 7.5-8.5oz

>>
>>18684268
I'll try a meme for $30. I do like them.
>>
>>18684206
