I can’t deal with my hair anymore. I can’t find a shampoo that works. It’s driving me crazy. I don’t understand because when I was like 14, my hair was perfect—everybody was jealous and wanted to touch it. I have curly/wavy/porous hair, and those of you that have it know how much of a torment it can be. After years of trying different products, hairstyles, and lengths, it’s either dry and dead or fatty and fucking clumpy. I have to wash it every 2 days at least because it just gets fucked up and greasy. Wash it just a little too often and you get dandruff as fuck and dry hair. How can it be fat, clumpy, and dandruffy at the same time? I’m not an unhygienic gooncave mongoloid, I assure you. I can’t go to sleep and wake up with it looking fine. It is just insane, looking in all directions and shit. Every time I style it the same way, it looks different every time. I am so tired and this fucking short of just getting a buzzcut. I have tried God knows how many different shampoos. My conditioner works fine(I have many), and with skin dryness/dandruff I can deal with a good tonic, but the fucking hair and shampoos... it looks like I’m homeless or something, and it’s not the cute messy kind. I have to wear caps and hats. What the fuck do I have to do to fix this? It is ruining my whole style and appearance, taking me down like 2–4 points on a scale of 10, no kidding. People of both genders were showing constant interest, now its basically none if I'm being honest, as far as I can tell. Its unironically downgrading my entire life.FYI I live in Germany. We have very hard water here(EC 800), so maybe I should only use soft water from a bucket to wash my hair? I dont know... Does anybody have recommendations for brands that are sold locally. I have no problem spending alot of money if something works, but what I have noticed is that the 10 times cheaper shampoos are just as good or even better.
>>18684285addition: I also take supplements and have recently done bloodwork. My levels are good on all major vitamins etc. Sodium was too high, which is true, I do eat too much salt(not insanely too much). Im also slim and with good circulation.
>>18684285I'm in the same boat as you. Still trying to figure out the solution. I have hard water also and honestly I think it plays a big part. I visited my parents recently and their water was much softer, and my hair seemed to retain its curls/waves much better. How are you drying it? Air drying and towel drying (even with the old tshirt trick) flattens my curls and makes me frizzy, so I air dry more often, but that increases risk of dandruff too.
>>18684285If I understand you, you have similar hair to me. I'm also trying to improve the look of it and I'm not exactly happy with it but I still have some tips: Shampoo way less, like once a week and only hit your scalp with shampoo. Try not to scratch your scalp if you have dandruff, dandruff cannot legally leave your lion's mane without your consent. Ideally you wouldn't even have water touch your hair every shower, but I haven't bought a shower cap yet and it's hard to avoid without one, I just condition it every time it gets wet. Use a leave-in conditioner and comb it through while damp, not dripping, though I rarely wait for my hair to air dry enough. I braid my hair when I sleep and use water & very light amounts of product to get fly away hairs in the morning, the leave-in controls it for the most part for a day or two though. Also may be worth gettting a little trim, my hair's got a lot of split ends & knots but I haven't gone to a hairdresser in way too long, split ends will make your hair look frizzier I think. I think keeping a routine that works for you consistently will help, my hair is a lot more manageable compared to when I started taking care of it.
