The Fragrance Flowchart for Beginners
Friendly reminder, especially for newfriends: if someone posts about or recommends>to wear more (classic) fougeres>montale sandflowers>9pm and flankers>bruno banani energy>aigner statement>bugatti gold iconiq>interracial relationships>fucking their german/white/aryan gf>redheads>Mila KunisOr they make lengthy posts completely unrelated to fragrances and add "SOTD: [one of the frags above]", their posts (see pic related) are spam and you shouldn't take their opinions seriously.Ignore them and/or report them for off topic posting, spamming/flooding, avatar/signature use or ban evading (he's been banned countless times already).
>>18687131I know this guy sucks BUT Classic Fougeres are very good.
Today a lady got angry because i didnt want to buy something, she was very pushy, but her store gave me the ick. I wanted a Gucci Rush 2 clone, it was my mom's favorite, but they discontinued it. It seems like there are none. Also, I forgot how it smells, so I can't really confirm it.And her Elizabeth Arden recommendations were also bad.
If you guys had to reduce your rotation to 3 frags, which would you choose?
>>18687163>Eau d'Hermés>New York Intense>Guerlain Vetiver EDT
My Thameen Carved Oud just arrived today. Is it normal for it to smell like mint bubble gum?
>>18687163I realistically couldn't but if I must right now it would be:>L'Artisan Parfumeur Fleur de Liane>Dior Leather Oud >Gucci pour Homme II>
>>18687057This looks most promising and price is not out of the space I will take a look on them anon and order samples. Thanks
I do enjoy grandpa fragrances, but every woman i know (mom) dislikes them.
>>18687216that sucks (to be her)
do you spray your dog?
>>18687221>do you spray your dog?everyone doing that deserves the ropeno exceptions
I've never smelled the actual creed. is this a good clone? not spending hundreds on the real one. what do you anons think of the dossier brand clones?
Received my Parfum d'Empire discovery set. So far my favorites are Le Cri and Azemour, but is Le Cri too feminine for men?
>>18687271>my favorites are Le Cri and Azemourpatrician taste>is Le Cri too feminine for men?maybe a bit but i couldn't care less - it's an awesome frag
>>18687271azemour just came off as floor cleaner to me
What's your favorite vanilla frag? For me it's Angelique Noire, despite it often being labeled as a women's frag I find it a lot more wearable than most vanilla focused frags which are often way too powdery, and occasionally also too sweet, for my taste.
>>18687208You’re welcome Anon, let us know what you decide to order and how you like them. If you’re undecided on anything and are looking for input I can tell you my thoughts on specifics.
>>18687271>Le CriNot at all. It's a very fresh rose, almost benign. It's not overly floral, fruity, or other shit people typically think of when it comes to women. I got into an disagreement with an Anon here back when I got my set. Lyric Man (which I also own) is hilariously rosy and if you were to plot it out, basically diametrically opposite to Le Cri. IMO, there are two "sneaks" in the kit. Un Bel Amour is supposed to be unisex, but it is absolutely a woman's frag but an Anon here disagrees. I mean, more power to him, but I think it fits firmly in the realm of woman/femboy if you're wearing that. And Eau Sauve, which is supposed to be a woman's frag I do not think is. It's definitely got masculine properties to it, but not so much that you're wearing diesel and leather. Those that are there, IMO, blend well with the softer ingredients and the drydown is quite pleasant. If I had to say any woman were to wear this, it would be a contemporary butch/stud. It's masc. I bought a half bottle when Joma went schizo a few weeks back because I enjoy it, and it was rock bottom pricing.
Kouros just came in the mail. wtf this actually smells good? Everybody says it smells like piss and gay anal but I'm just getting powdery honey, musk and flowers
>>18687350for me, i always come back to Tobacco Vanille.
>>18687377It smelled like a sauna to me. (after the rancid ferret piss settled and the soap took over)Order came in, 3 regular frags (Bottled Night, Fierce, Gentleman Intense). Like Todd would say, it just works.>discount price designers smell so good when you aint got no /fraggot/ telling you it's boring
all blind buys btw, I'm happy they turned out to be decent. This is the only excitement I get lately
>>18687377I get a very airy soap with orris and some incense. I get why people say it's pissy, like I can understand it but it doesn't smell too much like that to me. I do have the vintage.
Bad Purchases to avoid - Post your bad blind buy and your bad selections. Here's mine to start:1) Narciso Rodriguez for Him Bleu Noir - It's Terre d'Hermes with lemon instead of orange. it's absolutely redundant2) Kenzo Homme Indigo - a "marine leather" is just a weak leather with no real body to it. It just doesn't smell good OR interesting. a particularly unimpressive fragrance.3) Hermessence Santal Massoïa - A light crisp sandalwood that doesn't really try to do anything. Completely uninteresting and has an insane price point for what it is

>>18687270Dossier is a decent brand; it has been around for a while. A few years ago, Dossier started to be available at every Walmart and that helped the brand grow considerably. Dossier is also known to always invest a lot into marketing specially for targeted ads on social media.Long story short, they are really good for their price. Some fragrances are hits and some of them are misses, but this is very common with dupe brands. The one you bought is very close to a current retail version of Aventus. Aventus nowadays is very easily cloned; the oils are readily available. There are many Aventus clones, but this one by Dossier will do just fine. Overall, I'd say it is a solid 8.5/10 when it comes to both similarity and price/quality ratio. I'd wear this Dossier dupe over the classic Club de Nuit Intense Men EDT (current 2026 formulation) easily. On a separate note, Dossier also has a great BR450 EDP inspiration. Leans femenine, but it's very good. BR450 oils are also readily available, but they're blended very good here. On the other hand, I tried both their Le Labo Santal 33 and it was a huge miss. Same with their version of Bleu de Chanel EDP.
>>18687409Designers at discounted prices are great for everyday fragrances. If you liked Bottled Night, try Bottled Infinite. Slight green apple with an albeit synthetic, but very mass appealing cedarwood note. It can work as both a date fragrance and an everyday work fragrance. Very versatile.
>>18687440>Osmanthus Absolu by Essential ParfumsJust a terrible. Look at the accords on it and you'd think it's going to be the best thing of all time. Actually spray it and it's horrid. I am convinced it could be salvaged if it was sweeter, or there was a lot of vanilla in it. Super disappointed by it, and not sure what to do. I don't think I can hock it to someone who somehow actually likes it. Especially since it's "used" with me spraying a total of three times and immediately realizing my error. >Lattafa Badee Al Oud For GloryI was told this was a solid clone, it's really not. It's fuckin' terrible. I got it for $25 bucks, I wouldn't give it to my worst enemy, so I chucked it. >Klone AnythingJust avoid the brand. I grabbed two of their clones to see how they fared against the originals, and it wasn't close. Not to mention they aren't exactly cheap. Someone shilled them here a while back and I wish I could ask him some questions, primarily "Did you have a brain injury that impairs your sense of smell?" "Do you enjoy huffing dogshit?" That kind of thing.
>>18687440I’m pretty opposed to blind buys, and have done really well avoiding them, but when Rogue came out with Absolue de Mousse I was torn. I love Mousse Illuminee so I really wanted to try his flanker, but Lucky Scent was the only place with stand alone samples, and I fucking loathe Lucky Scent, so I wasn’t ordering from there. Ended up blind buying it and it’s such a distant relation of Mousse Illuminee they may as well not be related. It reeks of earth and soil, none of the bright green, vaguely smoky grape-ish scent that is MI. Completely regret the purchase, thankfully only picked up a 30 ml, and it’s not like Rogue’s stuff is particularly expensive. I feel vindicated in the fact that the fragrance was discontinued when he cleared out his back catalog, and of his produced stock which was available for sale on his website, Absolue de Mousse was the last one to sell out by a large, large margin.
Blind bought and bracing for disappointment.
>>18687507I doubt you’ll dislike it, but it’s hard to live up to the hype it surrounding it, especially with a modern version.

What the FUCK is this note in the top of Halfeti? It's like a very spicy nutmeg with a hint of citrus oil, or a very woody cardamom with some nutmeg.I feel like I've smelled it before, but I can't quite figure out where.
>SOTD Chanel 1957 This is the best clean white musk I have ever tried, but I don't like the price. Any recommendations for similar fragrances or musk fragrances in general?
>>18687573>similar fragsI'm afraid no good substitute exists for most Exclusif frags, be it because they're particularly high quality or because they're unusual.>musk frags with the same feelEau de Lingerie (I think this costs more than 1957), maybe Shalimar Millésime Iris, maybe The Musk by Essential Parfums, and Musc Ravageur is you don't mind something slightly dirty.Though if you want 1957, the only frag that will satisfy you is 1957.
the atomizer on this is making me crash tf out fr
>>18687573>>18687586Call me a noselet if you like, but white musks all smell the same, it’s the other ingredients that really differentiate them. Never smelled 1957 though. Also, there is literally nothing dirty about Musc Ravageur. It’s just a meme people repeat because they’ve never smelled it and the name implies it’s some kind of animalic beast.
>>18687525Do they all smell like Zyklon or something?
I think Animalic Musks only appeal to gay men. No woman on the planet wants to smell that on some rando guy.

is l'eau d'issey worth purchasing if I already have D&G light blue intense, versace pour homme, and dylan blue?
thoughts on the tux?
>>18687865It is worth purchasing. L'Eau d'Issey is not entirely similar or redundant to the fragrances you have mentioned. L'Eau d'Issey is a fragrance in which the most prominent note is yuzu. D&G Light Blue Intense has a main note of grapefruit, and Versace Pour Homme is a sparkling fresh bergamot fragrance. Dylan Blue is on a different fragrance family altogether. In summary, if you want to give it a shot, it's good. It's a clean, lowkey, daytime fragrance. It's decent. You can try a 75ml bottle, you don't have to commit to a 125ml bottle. If you are in the United States many discount rack stores such as Burlington or Ross Dress for Less usually have the OG L'Eau d'Issey readily available in their fragrance sections. If not, you can just buy it online. It's very affordable. All things considered, I would say it's a 6/10 fragrance. Not bad.
>>18687870This fragrance is very divisive. I have tried it and I liked it, but it really depends on your skin. For some people it works, and for some others it does not. This is very common with any fragrance, but with The Tux the discourse has been especially divisive. It's a good release from Maison Alhambra, that is for sure.
