Realistically what's the difference between discount store Levi's vs "real" Levi's you get at their store?
Both are made overseas, most likely in the same factory by the same people

they wear out faster. I've had a pair of real 501's for 10 years that i bought used at a thrift store and they are still great, meanwhile the pairs i've bought from walmart had buttons fall off, pockets rip, seems fray and holes worn in the knees.

This guy performed tests on levis from different retailers at different prices. The conclusion is tgat there's not much difference. I don't think those tests are conclusive, though, and nothing beats actual usage over time.

My mum bought me a pair of jeans from kmart when i was a teen that were branded levi strauss. i think they were under $20 australian. they were a bit tight and long in the legs but they were okay quality. a lot better than the trash kmart sells now (kmart was sold off and they stopped selling name brand shit)
