I have over $1000 in amazon gift cards i get from work every year and i dont really buy stuff on amazon so i figure id get new dress shoes since mine are like a decade old.
I had some cole haans my parents bought from DSW 12 years ago.
They were basic black cap toe oxfords, i dont think they make that model anymore but it was hawthorne or some shit.
Pretty similar to florsheim sorrento which ironically is what Trump wears.

I've been looking at Allen Edmunds Park Ave because it is a classic look which i assume all these black cap toe american shoes are based off of but i hear the quality is not worth the price and has gone downhill. However they are on amazon so i feel like im not spending money if i use giftcard money. Idk if there are better options on amazon.
I know TLB mallorca 128s and Alden 907s are better

Buy Jordans

Allens are bulky trash and made of increasingly shitty materials
I have TLB 198's and there are a few imperfections but otherwise the build is excellent and last is nice, probably will get a 199 as well later for rotation
I've heard Carmina is similar but haven't seen them in person

I don't wear oxfords because they're too narrow, so they crush my toes. Derbies are much better. Wide like boots but look clean and formal like oxfords.

Are you looking for something to wear just with a suit or something to wear with something more casual i.e do you want Oxfords (suit) or Derbies (jeans, khakis, whatever basically even a suit)?
>>
>>18688214
You really cant go wrong with Ace marks or Paul Evans. They have a good return policy too if they don't fit. I have 4 pairs of their shoes and they are underpriced for what they are.

>do you want the lace up shoe type 1 (super duper formal) or lace up shoe type 2 (identical to type 1 but without a line on the toebox so it's casual (except you'll look 50 either way))
menswear dorks are so weird bro

I just wear loafers, most recent ones are from morjas. Next time I’ll wear a suit will be my wedding (well my boys wedding a month before too) and the suit is a unstructured linen situation, I don’t really need derbies or brogues

TLB Mallorca are the undisputed kings right now. I will try in the future Yearn and Yohei Fukuda. And like others have said, never buy clothes from Amazon.

I think it’s a pretty current look to have like black derbies with blue jeans and maybe even timeless I don’t know but oxfords with jeans is like the reason why people don’t wear even derbies with jeans. Pic related has given people severe anxiety and I don’t blame them.
>>
>>18688703
Aren't those derbies? The facings are exposed. Bigger issue is no socks
>>
>>18688703
It’s not current. It’s 2015 /mfa/ shit that is raiding this board.
>>
>>18688581
Go back to your sneaker thread retarded nigger.
>>
>>18688706
Imagine not wearing socks with oxfords/derbies. That's how you know the guy doesn't actually wear those shoes and is larping. Leather formal shoes will not only chaff your foot if you don't wear socks, it will also destroy them from the inside from your sweaty skin constantly rubbing against the surface. Socks on the other hand act like a lubricant and protect your shoes from damage.

Derbies with jeans were pretty popular throughout the 20th century because they are semi-formal shoes. Which is why they're back now because Y2K fashion has been trendy for over 5 years. Keep up, grandpa.

yeah i bet the goldman VPs you surely do work with every day really care about the holes and lines in your shoe and your 2016 tumblr ass friends love the skinny jeans with grandpa laceups
it is the ginormous '26 now, just wear loafers
>>
>>18688214
Park Avenues are fine shoes if you don't buy them at retail price. I'd suggest waiting for one of the tons of sales or buying them as factory seconds (especially during a sale) which probably excludes Amazon from being used unfortunately. Will almost certainly be an upgrade from the Cole Haans and whatever crap Florsheim puts out these days, but don't expect beyond a mid tier shoe.
>>
>>18688846
>just wear loafers
No. I'm not a faggot or a retard who can't tie laces. I like shoes with laces because they're much more comfortable and adjustable and look way better. And it's not about the holes and lines, you retarded nigger. Clearly you know nothing about oxfords and derbies.
>>
>>18688852
Are you retarded or just acting so? Park Avenues are cap toe Oxfords, I said nothing about loafers of any kind. OP literally asked about the Park Avenue.
