I have bought so many pairs of glasses till date but all of them irritate my nose. I am constantly hyper aware of the pressure of them on my nose bridge. I have tried titanium, silicone, plastic... I really want to kms sometimes because of this. I cant look at screens without glasses which sucks because i am a CS major learning to code. This creates a huge friction to study. Can you guys please point me to a resource where I can look into what kind of glasses I should buy or what to look for while buying glasses? No, asking the seller is a no go because most of them are retards who pushed me to buy this super expensive titanium frame which felt good in the shop but i got hyper aware the same after some time. Please no for lenses as well. What should I do?!
You have 4 options:>rough it out till it doesn't hurt>get contacts>glorious nipponese cheek support glasses from Neojin where the pads rest on your face rather than your nose bridge>try a saddle bridge that has no padsIMO saddle bridge's have been more comfortable, but I had mine professionally fitted by a rep of the maker; don't know what these "generic/all fitting" saddles are like. You need to know your bridge with in order to get the right size I would say. Pic related, a saddlebridge up top, the traditional way glasses were fitted before nosepad even became a thing, and below the neojins - different styles available.Your best option is probably to import somehow one of these>https://www.neojin.jp/
>>18690030Here, some dark gold neojins, made in glorious nippon out of thousand times folded titanium
>Please no lenses"Lenses" is the English term for ANY device that focuses light, and it's more commonely used for mechanical equipment like cameras or microscopes. I assume you meant "contact lenses" in a thread where you complain about eye glasses, but I could be wrong. It would be better for YOU to be more clear (pun!), though speaking in 2 paragraphs about how much you hate one thing while requesting help only to immediately curtail the obvious response to help is provocative.• Place a blue-light protective screen over your computer monitor(s)• Wear contact lenses• Pic related• https://vimeo.com/569132474?fl=pl&fe=ti• Get surgery
>>18690030Saddle bridges are also called Windsor glasses. I'm wearing a pair now, they aren't bad but absolutely depend on fitting the proper size to ones nose and finding people that know their shit on them is rare.
>>18690039>they aren't bad but absolutely depend on fitting the proper size to ones nose and finding people that know their shit on them is rare.Yeah, hence my caveat. Also they tend to fit the lenses closer to the eyes than pads would. Saddle bridge is a "try on in store only" kind of purchase imo.
>>18690040Agree, but once you find your measurement, you can purchase any pair (mostly vintage) that lists them the sizes properly.
>>18690030So you mean to say that I will have this hyper aware/ pressure problem with all the normal, freely available glasses-frames? In this post, I wanted to ask about the points to check or ways to know if it the perfect fit for me since I have been wrong 4 times now. The solution I thought of was to 3d print my nose amd jam it in the middle of some store bought glasses, but for obv reasons this would be ridiculous.
>>18690036Yeah by lenses I meant contact lenses. I will try out the video you linked. I have some fishing gear at home with a gluegun, lets see if your solution works. Thanks for the help! This did look promising
>>18690047>So you mean to say that I will have this hyper aware/ pressure problem with all the normal, freely available glasses-frames? Well your track record so far make it seem that way.Like I said, an option is just to get used to it. Did you have these fitted by a competent optometrist? Either they're all retards, which you suspected already, or you're just hyper sensitive which is also possible. A good optom will fiddle with them on your face and adjust them in-store for you. It takes me like 15mins of trying on, giving back for adjusting, trying on again and again whenever I've gotten new frames. I get that many shops cbf doing that but if you've spent that much money with them you should expect a certain level of service.
>>18690051Not op, but finding a shop that is competent and gives a damn is a challenge. Then again, it's like that for literally everything now unless you can find some independent guy that's been in business for decades. Most places are either big corporate chains or are trying to sell you glass after your eye exam.
Recently made a pair of glasses from gifted vintage american optical frames (extended family are optometrists) and they have these big and supportive nose pads.
>>18690051I had an option to spend a lot of money on a frame OR buy an over priced frame plus pay a guy who i hope would do an honest job. Until now I went to the most popular shop in my city hoping that he would give a better suggestion purely from experience. I actually fif ask mphim to adjust but eventually he started looking at me like I was the retard there. My mom also started to talk to me like I was a mental patient. This is the only place i expect people to understand me. I have gone with no glasses whenever possible but now its just not possible because I am FORCED to use a laptop which I cant without glasses. The sellers do give service but when I say, "let me wear these for 15 minutes" then "it hurts here" and again "okay wait now". They get tired and irate real soon. This is why I wanted to learn what to look for to quickly /know/ which is my fit. >>18690050I did the glue gun diy abomination. Lets see if it works. It feels a LOT better than before but 1. Its still not perfect and 2. Cant go out like this because it does look like an IED
You can relieve 100% of your nasal pressure if you simply divert that pressure to your temples or behind your earlobes. They make all kinds of rubberized attachements that will slip/stick to the end of your glasses' arms. Pic related. Probably costs about $5-10 for a 3-pair.https://www.amazon.com/iliftz-cozy-eyeglass-socks/s?k=iliftz+cozy+eyeglass+socks
>>18690065Just go back to the shop and tell them that shit hurts. Who cares if they get annoyed that's their fucking job. Annoy them. You never have to see them again if you get it right.
>>18690030Where can I buy replacement cable temples in Europe?
>>18690142>EUDon't know, even though my pair of Beuren's was made there.https://www.theoldglassesshop.co.uk/beuren-curlsides-only/This shop sells replacements for that brand. Beuren from Germany. NOTE: thing is these little nieche handmade type brands might use their own screws, meaning they cannot use the generic one that is in virtually all (luxottica) stuff out there that every glasses shop the world over has buckets of. Been there, done that with Savile Row - fucking hassle. Not had any issue with my Beurens uncrewing, thankfully, unlike the old English made old Saviles. I had to drill it into the head of the guy putting in my lenses to NOT lose the screws just in case, because shoving in the generic universal screw could fuck them. You're honestly better off buying a new pair of glasses with cable temples/curl sides/riding temples instead. Send the glasses shoppe people an email and ask whether or not beurens use regualr ass screws if you cbf. But then you need to know the right length too. I've bought riding temple glasses where the arms were too long for my face so the curled temple shot past my ear. OR you could just buy pic related silicon hooks that come in a range of shapes, sizes and work just as well. Easily replaced when lost, available everywhere in the world from I dunno, amazon and aliexpress etc. If only these things had been available when I was younger.
>>18690021Contacts or LASIK. There is zero reason to wear glasses in 2026.
Oakley Overthetop
>>18690245
>>18690245>>18690246This is probably the only thing that only looks "cool" if you're bald or shaved. Doesn't work otherwise. Looks retarded if you have hair.
>>18690142Cable temples are generally for glasses that are for strenuous activities where you need extra hold. They are really hit or miss in long term comfort, at least vintage pairs are.
>>18690153>lasts for 15-20 years then your eyes go to shit>chance of fuckup on the operating tablenand you go blind>chance your eyes pop out due pressure changes when in an ascending aircraft no thanks lol
you need to go through the different nose pads that a shop has in supply. you can now get air filled nose pads at specsavers. i tried out a few but ended up rubbing off the soft ones loose and now im just used to ignoring the pain of sturdier ones.you should also practice adjusting the nose pinch on your own on an old pair. yes the easiest way to this would be a 3d printed nose, but shops usally just put them on the top of a long triangle and centre them. however if you pinch your nose then look at the distance between your finger from that pinch you can gauge how tight it should be then adjust. you can do this with your hands and show a fitter in an opticians and they'd be able to fit you easier.
