How do you find a style that actually fits you? I don't want to look out of place like this.
>>18697865Go for stuff that both feels good to wear and looks good to you in the mirror. That's your style. No matter what you wear, not everyone is gonna think it looks good on you, so don't bother trying to people-please with your style.
>>18697865This looks great though and he's pulling it offFuck off Rabbi
How many images of random asian men have I filtered because you're a closet case with yellow fever?
>>18697865That doesn't stand out at all in any city.
>>18697898It kinda does just because that jacket is writing checks his face can't cash. I agree that the rest is unremarkable.
>>18697896just rabbi making the board less fun so people leave
>>18697865You need to develop your own aesthetic and whatever you wear people are going to critique you no matter what so you just need to be confident in why you wear and do.
>>18697865Gorillamaxxing is all you need
99% of looking good today is how fit, handsome, and tall you are. The other 1% is leaning into social signals about who you are, what you do, and where you are rather than what you like. If some geeky short skinny fat Asian tech bro wears a leather biker jacket it just looks LARPy. But if he’s handsome, fit, well groomed, and dresses like you’d imagine a successful tech roundup starter dressed he looks good. It’s really pretty simple.
Parroting what this guy >>18698362 says. If you are average looking or below average, you really cannot afford to dress outside of your lifestyle. If you are attractive, you’d be able to pull off statement pieces like leather jackets. Some rules of thumb for putting together good, natural looking outfits >don’t be fat >balance your proportions. This is probably the most important thing you can do apart from every other tip. If you have fat quads, do not wear slim cuts. If you are tall, opt for classic straight or relaxed cuts so that you don’t look too lanky. Have a mix of tops that are slightly cropped and some that are normal length. Avoid shirts or jackets that are too long, these are made for guys who are fat. There are some exceptions to this rule, but generally if a shirt or jacket hangs below the seat/crotch of your pants then it’s too long unless you balance the proportions with picking a high rise or slouchy pair of pants>buy classic pieces of casual clothing. Hoodies, oxford shirts, 501 style jeans, chinos, slacks, converse, vans old skools/authentics, pair of dress shoes, pair of leather boots, military jacket (m65, MA-1, A-2, N-1, etc), cropped canvas jacket (carharrt Detroit style), puffer jacket, plain t shirts, ringer tees, vintage graphic tees >learn color theory. Figure out your natural palate (color of hair and eyes, tone of skin) and coordinate colors that complement these without adding too much harsh contrast. Start coordinating outfits that use mostly modest/muted colors and then pick one or two articles of clothing with a bright color to pop out with some contrast. Don’t go overboard. Color is like hot sauce; a little bit can elevate an outfit to something amazing but too much can make it completely unpalatable. Avoid wearing colors that clash too harshly, e.g. teal and pink These are not the only rules you need to follow, but it’s kind of hard to fuck up an outfit if you follow these
Fuck these haters. They had rather this dude wear flipflops, shorts and a too large graphic t-shirt than actually try to actually dress like an actual respectable person. Just by trying, he respects the people around him and himself. I like his style, but even if it was bad at least he tried to overcome the societal ennui that the degenerates in this thread are trying to enforce. Wear cool shit, learn what works, and wear it better the next time.
>>18698396He tried and failed. Seriously man, anybody who is being honest would admit he can’t really pull off the leather jacket. There’s so many other things he can wear that would actually complement him, nobody is saying he needs to be wearing any of the retarded shit you just listed. >Just by trying, he respects the people around himlol what the fuck does this innocuous statement even mean? By wearing something he cannot pull off, he is giving secondhand embarrassment to everyone else around him which isn’t really respectful.
>>18698400It just means I had rather him wear something that stands out, than blend in with the rest of the Walmart wearing losers, even if it overrides the rest of the outfit. Is a Perfecto too loud for him? Probably. But he took the risk and was willing to walk around in it, and probably felt like a million bucks. He wanted to look good in front of others, and that's more of what we need in the modern era.
>>18698401Okay. The thread is about how to not look like that guy. The unspoken understanding between everyone here is that the outfit is shit because he is dressing outside of his lifestyle and it looks uncanny/unnatural. That's cool that maybe you have so much heckin empathy, but this thread exists because OP wants some no bullshit advice on how to dress and not look like a fucking retard
>>18698396False dichotomy. You're implying his only choices are to LARP as a greaser or dress like a hippie. It’s not true.
