The Fragrance Groups 101 Chart
The Fragrance Flowchart for Beginners
>>18719019>is megamare similar to other orto parisi fragsYes and no. It’s pretty much completely different in terms of profile, but Gualtieri sometimes shuffles puzzle pieces between his compositions. So Megamare uses a similar musky base to the one in Bergamask and Risvelium. This gives them a similar texture even though theyre all different profiles. >SOTD MemoirIt’s slowly growing on me. The woody absinthe top was not exactly to my tastes to start but I am beginning to appreciate it more for the liveliness it adds. If you like mature, dry and slightly bitter masculine scents like Antaeus, Memoir is worth checking out.
>>18718986not that guyalso Azemour>>18718925some anon is extremely salty about LT and that is the only logical explanation>SOTD: Tauer Sundownerno, it's not a gourmand (imho)yes, it's good for summer
SOTD: KourosI love the smell during rainy season.
Tomorrow is Friday and I don't know what to wear when I go to the mosque for Friday prayer. Lord or Dakar?
>>18719277>some anon is extremely salty about LTYou're obsessed with a dirty jew that has never contributed anything and everyone called you out on it.
I've had a sample of Tauer's incense extreme for years and every so often I'd spray it and think it's the best fragrance ever made, yet I never buy a full bottle. Hmmmm.
>>18719323I did and I regret it. It's very strong and long lasting but the smell is very situational. It's not often I want to smell like a priest cleaning the old closet in a monastery.
>>18719322cope, seethe and dilateywnbaw¯\_(ツ)_/¯
>>18719327Not even what it smells like. Only NPCs associate it with that. Unless I'm just biased because incense is literally the best scent of all time. Churches don't smell like that though.
>>18719332>like the first whiff of incense smokeTell that to the man who made it. You have been to the wrong churches. To me it smells like the lingering smell of a place where incense has been lit a while ago and very dusty old clothes.I swear some of you go full retard sometimes. It's not that complicated.
>>18719323How does it compare to his desert series
>>18718996Megamare is the king of aquatics imo. Works incredibly well in both warmer and colder weather. The scent opens up differently depending on temp, I find that with some more heat it even develops a subtle touch of sweetness. The similarity between it and Boadicea Aqua Sapphire is ridiculous. It's almost silly, side by side it starts getting really difficult to tell them apart. Take that for what you will, but it goes to show note writeups online are often mainly a suggestion
>>18719299You tried Versace Dreamer? I get the same feeling from it like with Kouros
>>18719301The siufi oud in bakhoor, brother
>>18719162>they dont make wearble colognes only for the sake of arti really wouldnt say that, because what is perfumery really? Im sure as an art form im severely ignorant of its nuances... but im still confident in saying its peak isnt department store designers and white labeled "l'homme" citrus-woody stuff. Not saying im above that either, most of my collection is designer stuff i can wear and "smell good" to normies.. just maybe that i try to engage with perfumery beyond that. I would say imaginary authors falls somewhere between those two, none of the frags would feel out of place at sephora.. but some people would describe some of the smells as "not good" based on preferance, whereas i have a hard time imagining someone describing YSL Y that way. Hope that makes sense, and even if you skip them for now id say well worth doubling back to sample.
Hola /fa/ggots I was out walking on the beach in Spain and I think I found a large lump and smaller pieces of ambergris over 2.5kg. I'm not 100% it's the real deal but the smell is sweet and woody fragrance and pungent. Anyone have any idea on how to grade (outside of ai/Google search) and to find a buyer if it's legit.
>>18719344It smells better.>>18719341I'm telling you that you're a bitch and to sygau.
>>18719064>very dry and ashy drydownIt's actually fruity, sweet, and patchouli, the opposite of what you described. You might be confusing Michael for Men (2001) (also called Michael Kors for Men) with Michael Kors for Men (2014).
>>18719379I would contact some local perfumers. There is a thread on reddit from 4 years ago.
>>18719262>>18719263Imagine unironically browsing or checking this shit.
> finally bought Encre NoireThis is how I found out I'm noseblind to Iso E, thought it was pretty weak so I wore 5 sprays yesterday and people around me wouldn't shut up about it
>>18719367Dreamer is great but how is it similar to Kouros?
How is Lonestar Memories? I'm interested in the Western inspiration. I imagine a smoky note like this incense I have called Tuscon, which rules.
>>18719489It's pretty much ACDD + leather. Strong amber-incense base with leather, I like it but prefer ACDD
Picked up some decants for the summer> Beach Hut Man Amouage> Interlude Man Amouage> Interlude Black Iris Amouage> 40 Knots Xerjoff> XJ 1861 Naxos XerjoffInitial thoughts: Beach Hut wasn't what I was expecting. 40 Knots either.
>>18719491Cool, I'll have to try both and decide. ACDD was very impressive to me just off the sprayer at the store. >>18719500I also tried 40 Knots and found it underwhelming, mostly powder and amber. There is a mineral aspect in there, but overall the marine theme seems misplaced.
>>18719514To me ACDD is the best and most versatile of Tauer's well-known ambers, people say it's LDDM but ACDD is more rounded and feels like a more balanced composition. I haven't tried Noir though
>TOP SECRET fragrance tech for /frag/ anons ONLYThis better not leave this place, I don't want to see it end up on tiktok or youtube.>Fragrance:Dior Purple Oud>Prologue:Fragrance reviews are easily misguided and even the consensus can be wrong. Notes are simply advertising suggestions and even when listed wrong people take them as gospel and swear to smell them.>Abstract:Everyone got Purple Oud wrong thinking it's a heavy winter scent but it's very versatile and can be worn in summer.>Summary:I have been experimenting with the fragrance. It has gotten me multiple compliments but I wear it very sparingly. I had a feeling that it would work in summer because it wasn't very dense. Yesterday night the base reminded me of Mugler Cologne, which confused the fuck out of me. Why would an oud fragrance smell like a fresh cologne? Obviously the answer is that Purple Oud has "orange" and Mugler Cologne has "orange blossom", "neroli", and "petitgrain". Purple Oud never smelled very orangy to me but it does have a general citrus smell throughout. I get a lot of Fahrenheit from Purple Oud, with its gasoline like smell. So to me Purple Oud is kind of a mixture of Fahrenheit and Mugler Cologne. If they named it "Dior Purple" I think people would have been more open minded and not categorize it as a winter fragrance. (inb4 It's not real oud, it's western oud. I know, not relevant here.)>ConclusionTry Purple Oud, go sample it if you can and report back if you agree or disagree.>Further work:It's very hot today. I might douse myself in it and see if it holds up.
Rumour mill is saying Myths, Sunshine, and Bracken are all getting rereleased by Amouage.
>>18719544I've never tried any Amouage but might blind buy Outlands just for the thrill
>>18719546its really good. lives up to the hype imo
>>18719544>SunshineBig if true, Sunshine Man was fantastic. If that comes back & Byredo gets the sticks out of their ass long enough to bring back Tobacco Mandarin, I'd have my dream seasonal go-to's locked.
>>18719546I saw a ton of bottles “missing test sprays” hit the secondhand market in the weeks after it launched, and I still see them moving pretty slowly. They’re your shekels tho boss dawg
>>18719548I'm guessing that if I love amber and incense fragrances I'll probably at least find it decent>>18719553Wouldn't be my most risky blind buy but worst case scenario I give it away as a nice gift
>>18719322please share your contribution with us, anon...
What happens if I spray directly into my armpit?
>>18719599it would be extremely painful
>>18719379Pics or it didn't happen
>>18719601You're a big guy
>>18719538Purple Oud is an absolutely goated masterpiece. Agreed with the versatility of it
Think I got a fake 200ml bottle of coach green from Jomashop lads. Batch code doesnt pull up at all.
>>18718631You're an insufferable faggot. Please stop visiting these threads, underage retard. >P-PLEASE SPOONFEED ME This is literally youSOTN: Eau de Citron Noir
What are your favorite summer fragrances?
>>18719639Send it back.
>>18719646My gfs armpits.
>>18719639Aren't online shops like jomashop and notino supposed to be legit
>>18719641M8 he's probably at least one of the 11 posters in these threads atm (3 of which are likely the same person with multiple personalities). Let the young cricket stay and learn something >SOTD ELDO Nostos
>>18719624FOR YOU>sotd: Jorum Athenaeum
>>18719650They are. Still possible that they got-got. Anon could contact the manufacturer if he wants to make certain first, and then if it is a fake, take it up with Joma. Or just take it up with Joma.
>>18719646I wish I knew, I'm not pleased with anything I have for summer right now. My next samples are going to be CK One and Roja Oceania, if the Amouage Search and Allure Edition Blanche samples I have en route are a bust. I'll probably just go back to wearing Acqua di Gio EDP honestly, it just works.
>>18719599Your armpits go straight to your lymphatic system. It would be like spraying gay cancer juice straight into your immune system.
>>18719692Every time with you people.
>>18719373NTA you responded to, I already replied to him here >>18719256But hyper focusing on this statement>none of the frags would feel out of place at sephoralol. Bull’s Blood and even worse Untamable would never make it into a Sephora. Some of the others are questionable, but those two are the worst offenders, and I say this as someone who doesn’t hate them. >>18719459Good or bad wouldn’t shut up about it?>>18719489It’s a very soft leather to my nose, not quite suede, but very soft and smooth.
>>18719620Happened
>>18719639are you using checkfresh? ive been having problems with their site. a BDC bottle that i bought at an actual chanel boutique doesnt have its batch code come up either
>both modern GIT and modern Cool Water have shit-tier longevity and projectionpain
>>18719755Ya I used the checkfresh and 2 others, I read their databases arent the end all be all.
>>18719489Honestly found it disappointing. Very balmy, somewhat herbal, incensy. I really get almost 0 associations with the frontier/west. The leather is drowned out and abstract, and I get practically no smokiness or "campfire woody" notes whatsoever. He could've slapped a name like "Air of Algerian Desert" and called it a day, not sure Lonestar Memories is fitting whatsoever
>>18719749Legit question, does it float?
>>18719749If you pass it to me, anon, I can find out if it's legit or not and get back to you
>>18719777We all float, it floated for the last 30 years until I lifted of the beach this morning. It smells phenomenal never smelled anything like it. Passed the hot pin test, now I have to find someone to buy it
Anyone here have experience with Tam Dao EDP? Is it wearable year-round?
>>18719788I'll buy it. How much do you want?
>>18719788That’s not an answer of “I have seen it float on water.”
>>18719797it wears a little thin in the winter but its fine. creamier and more longevity than the edt
I dont understand all the Casbah hype herei get the spicy woody incense thing theyre going for but it just comes off as Dr Pepper to me. i would love a two-note incense and iris fragrance though (NOT black iris)
>>18719788I'll send you 60 bucks for it. It's probably mostly unusable by the looks of it.
